08. Guidance
The next morning, Jiang Nan woke to three email alerts. They were all market analysis and competitive product reports, all from Wei Yan. She quickly sent him a thank-you email, then quickly scanned through the emails while thinking about a thank-you gift for him.
She was surprised to find that the information was much more detailed than what the company had access to, and even included internal sales data for several competitors.
"This is too amazing." Jiang Nan muttered softly, quickly wrote down the key data, and then hurried to wash up.
After washing up, Jiang Nan was about to leave the room when she smelled the aroma of coffee. She followed the scent and saw Chen Yunsheng standing at the counter, pouring coffee. He was wearing a well-tailored suit.
It looks like he's getting ready to go out.
"Good morning, Mr. Chen." Jiang Nan greeted him a little stiffly.
Chen Yunsheng nodded: "Have you received the information?"
"I got it. It's very comprehensive. Thank you so much," Jiang Nan said sincerely. "I plan to adjust the plan according to your suggestions last night after I get to the company."
Chen Yunsheng also poured her a cup of coffee: "The driver will wait for you downstairs at 8 o'clock." After saying that, he put the cup down and prepared to leave. But after taking two steps, he suddenly stopped and turned back to her and said: "I have a social event tonight. If you eat at home, you don't have to wait for me."
Jiang Nan held the coffee and nodded blankly: "Okay. You should drink less."
She regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth.
The tone was like that of a real wife caring about her husband.
However, Chen Yunsheng just nodded slightly and left without saying anything.
Jiang Nan breathed a sigh of relief, quickly finished her coffee, and packed up to go to work. Before leaving, she habitually wanted to leave a sticky note for Chen Yunsheng, but after last night's instructions, she felt that this small gesture seemed a little strange - a bit like flattery.
After much hesitation, Jiang Nan finally wrote a pink bunny sticky note and stuck it on the coffee machine:
Thank you for your help! The coffee is delicious (☆▽☆)
She regretted drawing the smiley face because it looked a bit childish, but Jiang Nan still put it on.
When she went out, Jiang Nan instinctively wanted to catch the subway, but as soon as she left the building, she saw the driver Zhang Lei.
So Jiang Nan had no choice but to tighten her bag strap, walk over quickly, and thank Zhang Lei before getting in the car. She didn't dare ask Zhang Lei to park the car near the company, so she got out of the car at an intersection in advance - if Peter saw her, he would definitely gossip about her.
After arriving at the company, Jiang Nan said hello to Wenwen and rushed to his workstation.
As soon as she sat down, she got down to work.
With the information and suggestions provided by Chen Yunsheng, she quickly sorted out her thoughts and began to restructure the plan. At noon, Wenwen came to her for lunch and saw the new plan on her computer. She was surprised and praised it.
"Oh my god, Nannan, this is a great idea! It seems my braised spareribs are very effective."
"Of course." Jiang Nan bit the straw and agreed vaguely.
Wenwen blinked, moved closer to Jiang Nan, and asked quietly, "Could this be your cheap husband's idea?"
Jiang Nan nearly choked on her milk tea. She said guiltily, "No... just a friend who understands the market."
Wen Wen looked at me with an expression that said, "I understand," and didn't ask any more questions.
In the afternoon, Jiang Nan continued to improve the plan and didn't even notice that Pete was sneaking around her workstation several times. It was not until her colleague Li Lan couldn't stand it anymore and asked Pete a few questions out of pretended curiosity that Jiang Nan realized it.
But trouble still came.
When it was almost time to get off work, Wang Paopi suddenly called a meeting for the project team.
In the conference room, Wang Papi's face beamed with joy as he announced, "Everyone, great news! The client is very serious about this project and has sent their marketing director to hear our proposal presentation tomorrow morning!"
Jiang Nan frowned slightly.
Her plan hasn't been completely revised yet.
"Xiao Jiang," Wang Papi looked at her with a smile, "You are the main creator, so you will give the report tomorrow."
Peter grumbled sarcastically, "Jiang Nan has been working so hard these past two days. How's the plan going? It's not finished yet, is it?"
Jiang Nan forced himself to remain calm: "I've already adjusted to the new direction. I'll be ready tomorrow."
Wang Baopi smiled meaningfully: "That's good." After that, he clapped his hands and announced the end of the meeting.
Several colleagues from the same group patted Jiang Nan on the shoulder and followed Wang Papi and Peter out of the meeting room.
Jiang Nan slapped her lips in frustration, then stood up and returned to her workstation. After finishing her plan, she pondered for nearly ten minutes before picking up her phone and sending a WeChat message to Chen Yunsheng:
Mr. Chen, the client is coming to hear the project presentation tomorrow morning, and Director Wang has designated me as the lead speaker. I don't know if I'm overthinking it or being too sentimental, but I just feel like there's something wrong here.
After posting, she realized she had used emojis, so she quickly retracted the message and posted a new one:
Mr. Chen, the client will come to listen to the plan report tomorrow morning. I need to explain the plan in public, and I am a little worried.
This time Chen Yunsheng responded quickly:
Is the information sufficient?
Jiang Nan:
It’s enough, the plan has been revised, but I have never reported such a large project to a client alone.
Chen Yunsheng:
Please send me the final plan.
Jiang Nan quickly sent the PPT over and then waited anxiously for a reply.
Ten minutes later, Chen Yunsheng called directly.
"Hello, Mr. Chen?" Jiang Nan answered the phone in a low voice and hid in the tea room.
"The overall concept is fine," Chen Yunsheng's gentle and calm voice came through the microphone, "but the demonstration logic needs adjustment. Where are you now?"
"Still at the company."
"I'll ask the driver to pick you up. See you at Yuanshan Restaurant in an hour." Chen Yunsheng hung up the phone without giving her a chance to refuse or ask further questions.
Jiang Nan was staring blankly at his phone.
Is Chen Yunsheng going to guide her personally?
Jiang Nan instinctively felt that the attitudes of both Chen Yunsheng and Wang Baopi were problematic, but she was definitely more willing to believe Chen Yunsheng than Wang Baopi.
It wasn't long before work ended. Before leaving, Wang Pa Pi and Pete both had meaningful looks on their faces.
Wenwen wanted to help, but after learning that Jiang Nan had completed the plan, she went home with peace of mind.
——
An hour later, Jiang Nan stood at the door of Yuanshan Restaurant, nervously tidied up his appearance, and then went in.
Then she followed the waiter to a quiet private room.
Chen Yunsheng was already waiting for her inside.
There was a tablet in front of him, and on it was a page from the PPT she had made.
"Sit down." He motioned Jiang Nan to sit down.
Then Chen Yunsheng skipped the pleasantries and got straight to the point: "Your proposal is good, but a presentation isn't just about reading a PowerPoint. You need to tell a story."
For the next hour, Chen Yunsheng patiently instructed Jiang Nan on how to construct the report framework and how to highlight the core selling points, even going so far as to explain in detail how to express each transition sentence.
Jiang Nan took notes seriously and asked questions from time to time, and Chen Yunsheng answered them one by one.
“Remember,” Chen Yunsheng concluded, “what really impresses customers is your understanding and confidence in the product, not fancy slides.”
Jiang Nan nodded, suddenly feeling more confident and less afraid of tomorrow's report. She looked at Chen Yunsheng, who was concentrating on looking through the plan, and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Chen, why are you helping me so much?"
Chen Yunsheng raised his head, his calm eyes fixed on her. "It's written in the contract, it's mutually beneficial." He paused and added, "Besides, I don't like to see valuable efforts wasted."
Just as Jiang Nan wanted to thank him for his affirmation, the waiter knocked on the door and said, "Mr. Chen, your guest has arrived."
Jiang Nan then realized that Chen Yunsheng had a business appointment here. She quickly stood up and said, "I'm sorry to have wasted your time. I'll be leaving now."
Chen Yunsheng showed a gentle smile: "The driver is waiting for you downstairs. Go back and practice well, and you will do well tomorrow."
Jiang Nan nodded gratefully, packed up his things and left.
As she walked out of the restaurant, the night breeze brushed against her slightly hot cheeks. She took a deep breath, and an unprecedented courage surged in her heart.
A top-level boss gave her guidance, so there will definitely be no problem.
