Chapter 2 The End is Coming (2)

As an 8-year-old kid still in elementary school, Chu Xi didn't know what was going on.

Because she ate one more dumpling than her brother on the Winter Solstice today, she was still secretly happy thinking about her brother's jealous look.

All I knew was that the school was in chaos in an instant, the world had changed, and my ears were filled with earthquakes caused by meteorites hitting the earth, fires, air raid sirens, explosions, the sound of violent brakes, and the chaotic and shrill shouts of my classmates.

They screamed and panicked as they crawled under the desks, then followed the crowd to the playground amid the teacher's forced calm shouts. Those who had not yet reached the playground ran into the building in fear at the craters that kept appearing on the playground, running, screaming, and crying in chaos.

Something that I will regret for the rest of my life just happened like that.

Chu Xi, who was so scared that she almost lost her mind, was only a second-grade primary school student at that moment. When her brother, who was three years older than her and went to the same school as her, came to her, she cried and shouted for her parents.

Chu Tian, who still had a glimmer of clarity, calmed down after a moment's hesitation and then, after a brief moment of panic, protected Chu Xi and ran straight to their home. However, on this road, less than a kilometer away, after dodging two onrushing vehicles, Chu Tian faced another oncoming bus. Unable to evade the oncoming bus, he was pushed to the side of the road. Amidst Chu Xi's terrified cries, he was thrown into the ditch by the roadside, his life or death unknown.

"Brother!" After the bus crashed into the guardrail and overturned into the ditch, Chu Xi endured the severe pain and large scratches on his body and rushed directly to the ditch. However, many people fell out of the bus that had just overturned into the ditch and were struggling and groaning in the ditch, but he could not see his brother at all.

She cried out in deep regret, "Brother, brother..." If she hadn't been so obsessed with finding her parents, her brother wouldn't have died. "Brother, brother..." She cried until her voice was hoarse, but she still couldn't find her brother Chu Tian.

Suddenly, when Chu Xi passed by a meteorite crater as thick as a basketball and bottomless, a ray of red light flashed out of the crater and floated at the edge of the crater. When Chu Xi passed by crying "Brother", the red light was swept by her panicked arm, and the red light stayed in the palm of her hand and gradually disappeared. Chu Xi, who was still heartbroken, did not know that an event that was enough to change the trajectory of her life had happened.

Fortunately, the guardrail beside the ditch blocked the two cars that were rushing towards Chu Xi, otherwise, given her distracted state, she would definitely not have escaped.

"Uncle, aunt, please help me, my brother is still in the water!" When disaster strikes, everyone flees. Not to mention relatives and friends who may leave directly, everyone is running for their own lives in the face of natural disasters, not to mention a helpless little girl.

Hopeless, she received no help from anyone. She wondered where her parents were, and was afraid she'd missed her brother's call for help. As her voice grew hoarse and her strength gradually faded, Chu Xi's eight-year-old body was filled with despair and regret, wishing she could die in her brother's place.

The lonely and helpless little body slowly squatted beside the ditch. "Brother, brother..." However, she didn't know that a greater danger was approaching.

At some point, light rain began to fall from the dark sky, and the disaster that befell mankind truly arrived.

According to later records, out of the world's 6.5 billion people, nearly 6 billion were infected in this silent drizzle, of which 5.7 billion were transformed into zombies without humanity and reason. Only 300 million people survived because they developed antibodies and mutations for various reasons.

The unknown is scary.

The frail Chu Xi was unaware that zombies were gradually appearing on the road behind her. The area was crowded with schools and businesses, so naturally, the population was high. Zombies began to gather in groups of twos and threes, and the danger was getting closer.

Chu Xi, staring at the water and still calling out for her brother, was unaware that the red light that had merged into her body gradually moved from her palms to her forehead, eventually merging completely with her. Her body began to glow red and hot, even steam rising from her head, and a red light flashed in her eyes.

Without her knowledge, the raindrops falling from the sky retreated immediately as soon as they landed on her skin, as if they had encountered their natural enemies. As a result, while others were soaked, she remained dry.

The thin body that was gradually turning red was changing, but Chu Xi was still unaware of all this.

Finally, the zombies on the road spotted Chu Xi, who was whimpering beside the ditch. Chu Xi suddenly remembered that she needed to go home quickly to seek help from her parents.

The moment she stood up, the frantic horde of zombies had already reached the roadside guardrail. She felt dizzy and nearly fell as she suddenly stood up from her long squatting position. As she leaned back, she saw the hideous corpses.

Their expressions were dull and livid, their clothes tattered, and most of their faces and bodies were covered in blood, whether their own or others'. A group of "people" were frantically attacking a red sports car on the side of the road, while a stylishly dressed woman inside frantically pleaded for help. In the distance, another group of "people" seemed to be tearing at something on the ground.

Chu Xi's breath hitched, and she instinctively turned and ran. She didn't know where she found the strength to escape from her nearly exhausted body, but she ran away in an instant. The crazy crowd of "people" reminded her of the zombies in American movies.

In a flash, several zombies were approaching, and the panicked Chu Xi was almost forced into the water. Because the population density nearby was extremely high, a large number of zombies gathered here. Even with her best physical strength, she couldn't escape the zombie swarm's pursuit.

In a state of near despair, she thought of her grandparents, father, mother, and her home.
