Chapter 4 The Departure of Loved Ones

1 day, 5 days, half a month...

There has been no help or hope. Maybe the whole city, even the whole country and the whole world is like this.

Chu Xi and her mother were desperate. They had been trapped in their home for half a month. The water, electricity and gas had been cut off long ago, and they could only survive on the remaining food and water in the kitchen every day.

They didn't dare to go out. Faced with the inhumane, brutal and terrifying zombies, they didn't dare to step out of the room.

I also have no hope for the survival of any of my loved ones.

Chu Xi also explored and discovered his own special abilities in half a month.

In one's mind or consciousness, there exists a space as big as a 20-square-meter room. Time inside it is still. No matter what is put in, there will be no change when it is taken out, including hot food. However, living things cannot be stored there.

They were able to survive by relying on her space to store food.

The most important ability was teleportation. Half a month later, Chu Xi began to make several attempts, carrying her mother on her back. Still timid, she watched her mother gradually weaken after her illness. She bravely explored the rooms on this floor and searched for food.

In half a month, she was able to teleport freely within 50 meters, but she couldn't use it too much in a day, otherwise her mental strength would be exhausted, her head would feel swollen and she would have a severe headache, which was not a pleasant feeling.

With her miraculous ability of teleportation, she gradually grew braver and was able to at least keep the two of them alive.

Faced with her mother who was becoming increasingly thin and haggard with lifeless eyes, Chu Xi took the initiative to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of her mother.

Chu Xi, who is fearless like a newborn calf, can now face zombies head-on instead of being panic-stricken when he sees them.

After repeated brave attempts, and even close observations, she gradually became familiar with the habits and characteristics of zombies. She suppressed her fear of the ugly and terrifying zombies and blood, and used her two special powers to expand the search range, hoping to get some information about her relatives, medicine, and even help from doctors.

After searching several households in the building, we found survivors and also saw mutated zombies, animals, and plants downstairs.

When she climbed to the roof, she saw that the devastated city had turned into ruins. The formerly clean and magnificent skyscrapers had become riddled with holes, and unburned black smoke rose from countless corners as if connected to the dark clouds.

As far as the eye could see, the congested, paralyzed streets were dotted with potholes left by gas pipeline blasts. Not far away, two black cats, each a size larger than their own, were climbing vertically along a glass wall as if it were flat ground. A vine growing in a building across the street had pierced the glass and extended outward...

One day, Chu Xi met an elderly couple downstairs who looked very familiar to her. Looking at the kind yet haggard Grandpa Li and Grandma Wang, she was kind-hearted and even provided some food and water.

She was naive and was quickly tricked into revealing the family's situation. Knowing that there was only one woman and only a source of food and water at home, she prayed that they could huddle together for warmth and help each other so that they could better survive.

Chu Xi also hoped that her mother could be taken care of in her absence, but this was just the beginning of the nightmare.

For a month, Chu Xi explored Building 2 where he lived, avoiding places with zombies and basically exploring other areas.

She looked at the commercial building opposite, thought about her frail mother, and hoped to find a doctor and medicine.

Feeling well prepared, she planned to teleport directly to a room on the seventh floor of the building opposite and continue exploring.

After looking at her mother's weak face which was forced to smile but still full of worry, she resolutely left. She wanted to save her mother, who was her last relative.

However, she could never have imagined that this would be the last time she saw her mother.

A day later, Chu Xi returned home with only some medicines but no doctor.

He just looked at the mess in the house and the glaring, almost coagulated blood in the middle of the hall.

The terrified Chu Xi immediately began to look for her mother. However, when she ran to the stairs of Uncle Li's house downstairs, her mother had been bitten beyond recognition in the corridor. Looking at the familiar figure, hairstyle and clothes, she knew that her mother had left her, and her last relative was also gone!

She remembered that Uncle Li and Grandma Wang had asked her many times to escort them home to get their son's photos and supplies, but she had not agreed. Her mother's death must be related to them.

They promised her that they would never open the door and take good care of her mother. She was deceived! She was deceived!

"Ah!" Her eyes flushed crimson as she instantly lost her mind. The entire corridor was shattered like a Category 12 hurricane. Several zombies still pounding on Uncle Li's door were chopped to smithereens by invisible blades before they could even react. The solid concrete walls of the corridor were reduced to shattered rubble, like tofu dregs.

Apart from the body of Chu Xi's mother, the entire corridor was in a horrific state. Even the specially made thick steel bars in the load-bearing walls revealed a smooth cross-section, and the entire building became a dangerous building.

Not to mention the security door of Uncle Li's house, which twisted and chopped off and disappeared. Listening to the faint human moans and cries for help in the house, she finally regained some sanity and stopped her outburst.

In grief and anger, Chu Xi activated the third ability of his spatial power, the spatial storm of the spatial blade.

She ignored the cries for help. She began to no longer trust anyone. Her heart was closed. She only knew that her mother who gave birth to her and raised her was gone.

Chu Xi hugged her mother's broken body tightly and burst into tears...

"I'm sorry! Mom, Mom...I shouldn't have left you..."

I suppressed the grief in my heart, helped my mother to prepare her remains, and buried her quietly on the hill behind the community.

Chu Xi, who activated her spatial ability again, gained a certain degree of attack and self-protection capabilities. With the passing of her mother, she decided to look for her other relatives with vague hopes.

Suddenly, with a loud bang, the building where she had lived since childhood collapsed without any warning.

It cut off her only escape route and also strengthened her resolve to go out.

The originally gentle and cute baby face has become hard and even heartless!

Just like that, a little girl of only eight years old began her lonely wandering...
