Chapter 16
Lin Shengwen's questioning was not particularly reasonable or well-founded.
Although he and Liang Xun have lived together for some time, since he spends much more time in the hospital than at home, there is actually a time difference in the pace of life between him and Liang Xun.
This also led to Lin Shengwen actually having no idea what Liang Xun ate every day.
Lin Shengwen could sometimes find takeout boxes in the kitchen trash can. Liang Xun was not used to using plastic tableware, but since there were too few tableware and the dishwasher was too sparse, he probably thought it was a waste, so he would wash the used forks, spoons, and chopsticks and put them back in the chopstick holder.
But if that were the case, Liang Xun wouldn't have become so thin.
Lin Shengwen could only think of two possibilities. The first was that although Liang Xun ate every meal, perhaps his basal metabolic rate was naturally exceptional, several times higher than that of the average person, so no matter how much he ate, he couldn't gain weight. The second was... Liang Xun simply wasn't eating properly. It was definitely impossible for him to occasionally skip a meal or two. Perhaps he only ate one meal a day.
Only then did Lin Shengwen begin to regret why he didn't have a body fat scale at home. He even had the urge to take Liang Xun to their hospital for a full physical examination.
He got Liang Xun a set of his pajamas, closed the door and left Liang Xun alone in the bathroom. Lin Shengwen walked into the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of ice water and drank most of it in one breath. He felt a little restless and paced back and forth in the kitchen twice, trying to suppress his abnormal desire that had inexplicably begun to take hold.
Liang Xun put on Lin Shengwen's pajamas. The sleeves and trouser legs were two sizes larger than his usual clothes, and looked loose. He tied the laces of his silk pajamas tighter and walked out of Lin Shengwen's room in slippers.
There was a soup pot on the dining table. Lin Shengwen served him a bowl and placed it on Liang Xun's side, along with two breakfasts on white porcelain plates.
Lin Shengwen is probably used to eating Western food, so most of the things he cooks are Western-style, which are the most basic combinations. They can't be said to be very delicious, but they are definitely not unpalatable.
"Such a rich meal." Liang Xun blinked, sat down, looked at the breakfast in front of him, and sighed.
Lin Shengwen replied calmly, "Normally."
But Liang Xun, adhering to the idea of not complaining when there is a free meal, did not say anything more. He whispered, "I'm starting to eat," picked up the cutlery and started to eat heartily.
The hangover soup tasted quite good. Lin Shengwen added a little bit of spicy flavor to it. Liang Xun couldn't tell the specific ingredients, but he just thought it was quite appetizing. He drank several bowls. Lin Shengwen himself didn't drink any of it, and the whole pot of soup went into his stomach.
Lin Shengwen put his finished bowl and chopsticks aside, sat down again, and asked him like he was interrogating him: "Okay, now tell me, how do you usually solve your meal problems?"
Liang Xun lowered his head, feeling that Lin Shengwen's current posture easily reminded him of the look of his high school homeroom teacher when he was lecturing. He was intimidating without being angry, so he gave up the idea of lying that he had not yet grown up with.
"Uh... maybe I can only eat one meal a day... basically I just order takeout, that's all?"
He raised his eyes and looked at Lin Shengwen. In fact, Lin Shengwen was not really angry, he just didn't smile at all.
Liang Xun had seen him without smiling too many times, and could tell the subtle differences between different cold faces. For example, Lin Shengwen was actually thinking about his response, but he didn't know what he was thinking about.
Lin Shengwen thought for a while, then made up his mind and said, "I understand. Starting tomorrow, I will be responsible."
"Ah? Responsible for what?" Liang Xun wondered.
"Your three meals a day," Lin Shengwen added, "I don't want you to faint one day and be rushed to our hospital, only to be diagnosed with malnutrition, which is rare among adults."
"You are so busy, it's not appropriate." Liang Xun gave a fairly rational rebuttal.
"There's nothing inappropriate." Lin Shengwen said without question.
Liang Xun stayed at home for the whole weekend.
Lin Shengwen always kept his word. Not only did he cook three meals for him all day on Saturday, but the next day Lin Shengwen got up at six in the morning to go to work at the hospital. Liang Xun slept until noon and woke up to find that Lin Shengwen had left lunch boxes for him for three meals in the refrigerator, even in borosilicate glass lunch boxes that can be heated in a microwave.
Liang Xun thought that if he asked Lin Shengwen to cook three meals for him every day, it would not be a big deal. Lin Shengwen's work was obviously much busier than his. After a while, he could suggest to Lin Shengwen that he would eat three meals a day, but he could order takeout himself, freeing Lin Shengwen from managing his diet.
However, being able to eat Lin Shengwen's handmade lunch box is a top reward for him. Let him enjoy it for a while before it becomes too much of a burden to Lin Shengwen.
Liang Xun brought his lunch bag to work, but when he entered the office he felt as if he was receiving inexplicable attention. He sat down at his workstation, and Sheng Biao stood up shyly and walked to his side.
"Liang Xun, are we still good friends? You didn't even tell me that you were in a relationship?"
"Ah?" Liang Xun was startled and asked again, "No, how did you know?"
Sheng Biao flipped through his phone and showed him a photo from a group chat on his chat app. Last Friday night, he'd been harassed by Chen Guangquan, and when Lin Shengwen came to his rescue, an intern from the department next door was leaving the office building, probably intending to take a picture of the handsome Lin Shengwen. The photo was captioned with a picture of a handsome idol drama actor they'd met. Sheng Biao noticed with a sharp eye that the handsome man in his arms was Liang Xun, and that was why he'd been so frustrated on Monday, trying to get a definitive answer from Liang Xun.
Liang Xun thought for a moment and gave a correct answer: "I didn't have time to tell you. It hasn't been long since then."
"You're so mean... Didn't you say you'd treat me to a meal after you talked to someone? If I had known you were talking to Mr. Lin's brother, I would have given you a good beating!"
Liang Xun grabbed Sheng Biao's clothes.
"...Wait, what did you say, Mr. Lin's brother?"
"Yes, look, there's a reply from a lady from the General Affairs Department below this one, saying that she had seen him once before at the annual meeting, and that the handsome guy seemed to be General Manager Lin's younger brother. Is this true or not? It can't be fake, right?" Sheng Biao scrolled down the chat history on the screen.
"What's true or not... I have no idea."
Liang Xun was terrified when he thought about it. So...
"They all do have the surname Lin."
Sheng Biao was full of gossip and wanted to pull him over to ask him for more clues when Chen Min suddenly came near them and called Liang Xun.
"Liang Xun... Sheng Biao, you're here too. Come over too. I'll assign you guys an outing. Come over and chat."
Chen Min took him and Sheng Biao to the small conference room. The main point was that Mingsheng's villa area was about to be completed, and the interior decoration would be done next. Chen Min asked him and Sheng Biao to inspect the luxury stone materials of a stone company in another province and bring back a batch of samples. If the price-performance ratio met their requirements, they would sign a contract with the stone company.
Liang Xun had not received any new big projects after finishing Da Jiang Yue Hua, and Sheng Biao was in a similar situation. They both agreed and had to set off the day after tomorrow.
Sheng Biao booked air tickets and hotels for the two of them. When booking the hotel, he was careful and asked Liang Xun if he could book a standard room or two rooms.
"Why bother with so much trouble? Just take a standard room." Liang Xun was almost sweating profusely.
"Okay, then I'll book a standard room. If your boyfriend blames you, you must speak up for me. I'm a straight-laced man, and I never cheat anyone."
Liang Xun was speechless and gave him a look to shut him up. Liang Xun then sat back at his workstation and began to read the company's introduction.
This company mainly deals in luxury stones and related products. What Mingsheng wants to purchase most is the Prada green jadeite stone imported from Italy, and the processing should also be entrusted to this company, so this time he also went to see the quality of their stone itself and the processing technology.
Liang Xun read the information for a long time, but his mind was still circling with the rumor that Sheng Biao mentioned in the morning that Lin Shengwen might be the younger brother of Mr. Lin, the actual controller of Mingsheng.
He opened the browser and searched for Lin Yunshen's name. Photos of Lin Yunshen popped up and he looked through them one by one.
The human brain's processing of information is extremely deceptive. Once something is hinted at, it is easy for people to mistakenly believe that the suggestion is correct.
For example, when Liang Xun looks at Lin Yunshen's photo now, he feels that he is somewhat similar to Lin Shengwen.
At this moment, Liang Xun's cell phone on the table suddenly vibrated again. It was a message from Lin Shengwen, reminding him to have lunch. Liang Xun glanced at the time in the lower right corner of the computer and found that it was already 12:30 in the afternoon. Some of the colleagues sitting around him had already gone downstairs for lunch.
Liang Xun opened the lunch bag and heated up the lunch inside. When he thought about it carefully, he realized that he hadn't eaten lunch on a weekday for a long time. He didn't even feel hungry at all. He finished the meal slowly, joking while eating. After he swallowed the food in the lunch box, which was a bit too much for him, Liang Xun took out his mobile phone, took a picture of the empty bottom of the lunch box, and sent it to Lin Shengwen.
He added: "Delicious."
But Lin Shengwen didn't reply for a long time, and didn't even have a read status. Liang Xun thought about it for a long time and speculated that Lin Shengwen might have set the message to be sent on time, and he was actually in the operating room. This made sense.
Liang Xun put down his phone, but after a while, he picked it up again, typed for a long time, and was reluctant to press send.
Since Lin Shengwen asked him to treat him normally, shouldn't he comply with this request and speak to Lin Shengwen in a more casual tone?
Liang Xun edited the message for a while, then added a simple emoticon at the end of the sentence and clicked send.
Liang Xun: "The day after tomorrow I'm going on a business trip to Province X >_<"
