Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Liang Xun came out of the private club, feeling a little dazed for a moment. He said goodbye to Wang Wanling and politely declined her suggestion to have the driver take him home.

He just wants to be alone now. He needs some time without being disturbed to sort out his thoughts.

Liang Xun was walking aimlessly on the road. The sun was so hot that it almost burned his skin, but the temperature sensing function in Liang Xun's body seemed to have been forced to stop during the conversation with Wang Wanling just now.

He had a strong sense of unreality, as if he had been pulled away from the real world. His steps became empty and weak, and he continued to walk mechanically. He didn't know where he was going, but if he turned back, he didn't know where he could return to.

The conversation with Wang Wanling just now was like a recorded cassette tape, and Liang Xun was very sure that once this record was archived, it would never be opened again, just like a secret letter that would be burned after reading.

Half an hour ago.

"Ms. Wang, what can I do to help him?"

Liang Xun's voice was soft, but it contained a firmness that could not be ignored.

He was performing a sacrifice, and the object of the sacrifice was himself.

Wang Wanling wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with a soft tissue. Her eyeliner was wiped off a little, revealing her clear eyes.

Her husband, Lin Xiaodong, the father of Lin Yunshen and Lin Shengwen, and the biggest actual beneficiary of the Lin family, dropped the tablet he was using to read the news when Hou Ying's family exposed the medical accident at Tingda First Hospital.

The electronic gadget banged against the corner of the table, then fell face-first onto the black jade and gold brick floor, sending tiny fragments flying. Not far behind him, a servant crouched down at Lin Xiaodong's feet, silently gathering up the items the master of the house had used to vent his anger.

Lin Xiaodong scared Wang Wanling, thinking that he was furious, but Lin Xiaodong's expression did not change at all. He was so calm that it seemed as if the person who had just thrown the things was not him at all.

"what you do."

He glanced at Wang Wanling and said, "You advised me to support his choice and let him develop freely. I gave in for your sake, but all I got in return was a smear campaign against our family. What did I tell you then? I said he should join Mingsheng and marry the second daughter of Meixin Media at the right age to strengthen the Lin family's influence in the media industry."

"If you do what I say, this will happen?"

His tone was extremely calm, and he was intimidating without even being angry.

"Just treat what I said as bullshit." Lin Xiaodong sneered through his nose.

Lin Xiaodong wrote off all the hardships that Lin Shengwen had experienced over the years, and attributed all his misfortunes to his wife's negligence in education, while also pointing out that he himself had foresight.

Wang Wanling was silent. She looked at her husband's expression. She had never been good at guessing how much of Lin Xiaodong's thoughts could not be resisted and how much could be mediated.

Lin Xiaodong gave her the full responsibility of raising two children, but did not give her any trust at all, and only blamed her for her low ability.

She knew clearly that if Lin Xiaodong had not intervened before the news came out and concealed Lin Shengwen's background, they might have faced a large fluctuation in the share price of Mingsheng Holdings.

Lin Xiaodong was mocking Lin Shengwen like this, most likely because he was going to discipline him personally. The men in the Lin family have a strong desire for control, and Lin Xiaodong has taken this desire for control to the extreme.

Wang Wanling looked at her husband, and the light in her eyes suddenly seemed to go out, and there was dead silence.

After a long while, she finally asked, "Do you want Shengwen to quit his job at the hospital and come back home so that you can control him for the rest of his life and make him live according to your wishes?"

"Have you ever thought that if you really do this, can the Śrāvaka be considered alive?"

"He's my child, Lin Xiaodong. If you really believe this is due to my upbringing, then you might as well come and deal with me."

Her voice gradually rose, and as soon as she finished speaking, she raised her hand and swept the teacup beside her to the ground. The edge of one of the porcelain pieces scratched Wang Wanling's wrist, and soon blood oozed out from the broken skin. Wang Wanling had no energy to care about the pain and looked at Lin Xiaodong fixedly.

This is a confrontation between her and Lin Xiaodong.

Wang Wanling couldn't explain what her feelings were behind her rebellion against Lin Xiaodong. She didn't know

Lin Xiaodong lowered his gaze, and there was a hint of scarlet in his eyes.

Finally, he finally whispered: "...At least, he shouldn't marry a man without permission."

The implication was that as long as Lin Shengwen got a divorce, Lin Xiaodong would help him sort out other issues. Wang Wanling understood that Lin Xiaodong had already made the biggest concession, so she didn't say anything more.

In the private club, Wang Wanling pushed the divorce agreement in front of Liang Xun.

Liang Xun was stiff for nearly five minutes, then he picked up the pen and signed his name on it.

He had his signature designed by someone after he joined Mingsheng. It was quite different from his usual handwriting. He practiced it for a long time at that time and has become accustomed to it now. His strokes are smooth and he writes them in one go.

Wang Wanling seemed to want to apologize, or perhaps thank him, but Liang Xun waved his hand to stop her from saying anything else.

He seemed to have no strength left to speak. He squeezed out a few words from his throat with difficulty, speaking in a halting manner: "I promised you, and you must fulfill your promise, Ms. Wang."

"I promise you, Liang Xun..."

Wang Wanling nodded. The tears in the corners of her eyes had long dried up, and not even a trace of tears was left on her delicate face. It was as if the crying Liang Xun had just seen of her was just an illusion.

Liang Xun didn't know how he got back to Dajiang Yuehua. He opened the door and found that Lin Shengwen was not at home. He left a note on the refrigerator saying that he had to go back to his parents' house for something urgent.

He took off the note and held it in his palm.

When he moved in with Dajiang Yuehua and Lin Shengwen, he didn't bring anything with him. Now that he was leaving, he realized that he might not need to take much with him.

His feelings towards Lin Shengwen went from spying on him from afar, to getting close to him by chance, to trying to fall in love with him, and even having quite intimate physical contact, but in the end, he could not erase a trace of fear from his heart.

Liang Xun was afraid. All the sweet things about Lin Shengwen were just a beautiful dream he had. No matter how good a dream was, there would always be a moment to wake up. Now was the time for him to wake up.

He packed simple necessities, including his ID, bank cards, and some work documents from Mingsheng, leaving them untouched, with no intention of putting them in the suitcase.

Mingsheng Real Estate is the Lin family's property. It is impossible for him to meet with Wang Wanling and sign a divorce agreement with Lin Shengwen, and then shamelessly pretend that nothing happened and go back to work at Mingsheng.

Liang Xun also believed that Wang Wanling would take care of things for him as she had said.

He stood up and took two or three more sets of clothes from the closet. While sitting on the floor folding clothes, Liang Xun suddenly noticed the storage box containing the photo album that he had put under the bed.

He stared blankly at a corner of the storage box. The transparent plastic frame showed the blue cover of the photo album inside.

Liang Xun didn't dare to reach out and open the box to take out the things inside.

Seeing the things reminded me of the people, Liang Xun thought, it would be better not to leave any memories for myself.

His eyes suddenly stopped on his finger again. The diamond was sparkling. The ring was too eye-catching. After wearing it for such a long time, he was almost used to the ring.

Don't take it away either.

Liang Xun thought about it, took off the ring, found a drawer in the room, and threw it in.

He closed his suitcase, walked out of Room 3801, locked the door, and put the key under a corner of the carpet outside the room.

Liang Xun took a taxi to Tingdong Airport. He did not take the check given by Wang Wanling, but accepted her proposal to book a plane ticket for him. Wang Wanling's secretary booked a first-class ticket for Liang Xun to fly to Kangfu that night.

Just before takeoff, Liang Xun's finger was still on Lin Shengwen's contact number. The flight attendant half-knelt beside him and gently reminded him to turn on airplane mode if he needed to use his phone. Finally, as if waking from a dream, he forced a smile at the flight attendant.

"good."

He tapped a button on the screen with his fingertips and a prompt popped up.

Are you sure you want to delete this contact?

Liang Xun clicked OK.

He turned on airplane mode, turned off his phone screen, and let himself sink into the first-class seat that was so big that it could cover his entire body.

Lin Xiaodong asked Lin Shengwen to go back home, as if summoning him.

However, Lin Shengwen did not expect that when he returned to the old house, Lin Xiaodong did not scold him as he expected. Instead, he just said that he would handle the matter and sent him away.

Lin Shengwen couldn't help feeling puzzled. When he came out of his father's study, he found his mother sitting alone in the audio-visual room, looking through videotapes of his childhood.

Lin Yunshen and Lin Shengwen were very cute when they were young. She bought a few cameras at that time and recorded a lot of videos of the two brothers out of curiosity.

Wang Wanling was a nurse in the emergency department. She quit her job at the hospital before marrying Lin Xiaodong. After giving birth to two sons, she spent most of her time at home with them, and only occasionally appeared at Mingsheng Holdings.

She did not grow up in an environment where she was loved, and it was difficult for her to clearly define her feelings for her two children as love.

But Wang Wanling was clear about one thing: if her children were with her and Lin Xiaodong, they would never learn how to love someone. Only by letting go could her children know what the most important human emotion is.

"Mother." Lin Shengwen called her softly.

Wang Wanling turned her gaze to look at him and said in a trembling voice, "Shengwen, Mom did something wrong."

It was already midnight when Lin Shengwen returned to Dajiang Yuehua. He opened the door with his key, but the room was dark. Lin Shengwen felt a little tired. He threw the file bag he had snatched from his mother on the dining table and entered Liang Xun's room.

Liang Xun was nowhere to be seen, and there seemed to be no change in the room, but a suitcase in the corner was gone.

Lin Shengwen sighed, the lingering feeling of depression making him feel slightly suffocated. It was only when Liang Xun left that he finally realized what his feelings for him were, but it was too late. He was confident that Liang Xun liked him and would not accept the ridiculous deal his family had proposed.

But he misjudged the importance of the relationship between him and Liang Xun. Liang Xun didn't just like him, he loved him, so he accepted such a condition in order to give him a bright future.

He knelt gently on the ground, but his lowered gaze was suddenly drawn to a plastic box.
