Seeing that she had taken the bowl away, Mo Xiaowan had no choice but to say sullenly, "Then remember to give it to Madam. I stewed it all night."
"I know, I know, you should leave now." Hongmi pushed her out of the room.
Mo Xiaowan looked back at the door that had been closed again, stomped her foot hard, and then left.
Hearing the footsteps receding into the distance, Mu Run breathed a sigh of relief and said to Hong Mi, "You don't know, the bird's nest she made was too fishy, and I don't know what she put in it."
Hongmi looked down and smelled it; it did indeed have a fishy smell. "I've had Sister Cai's cooking before, and it wasn't fishy at all. Does she not know how to cook?"
Mu Run: "Yes, she cooked once before you guys came, but the taste was just so-so."
"That's right, you know how but you can't do it well."
"Maybe. But I really don't like drinking this stuff. If you want to drink it, then drink it; if you don't, just pour it into the flowerpot."
Hongmi put the bird's nest aside, saying, "I'll talk about it later."
Madam Cai brought over two sets of clothes and knocked on the door. "Madam, it's me."
Mu Run replied, "Sister Cai, come in quickly."
Madam Cai went into the room, put the clothes on the bed first, and then walked towards the bath tub. "Has Madam had her back scrubbed?"
"Not yet," Mu Run replied.
"This servant will rub your back." Cai took the towel and then said to Hongmi, "Master said he wants to hire a doorman. Let's go to the market together tomorrow to see if there's a suitable one to hire."
Hongmi replied, "Okay. But instead of hiring one, it's better to buy one who sells herself, so she can come up the mountain with us in the future."
Madam Cai nodded. "I think it's a good idea. What do you think, Madam?"
Mu Run yawned, "Anything is fine."
Seeing that she was sleepy, Madam Cai quickened her pace and finished washing her hair in no time. However, her hair was still wet and would not dry easily. "Madam, would you like some tea to refresh yourself? Wait until your hair is dry before you go to sleep, otherwise the dampness will cause you to have a headache tomorrow."
"No need, I'll just read for a while to keep myself occupied." As Mu Run got dressed, she remembered the sacred silk gauze dress that Xin Sui had given her.
"Sister Cai, do you see if there's a wad of yarn in my pocket?"
Madam Cai picked up the clothes Mu Run had changed out of and examined them closely. Sure enough, there was a clump of crystal-clear gauze. "What is this?"
Mu Run replied, "It was a gift from a guy named Xin Sui. Your eldest son said it was to protect against mosquito bites, so I'm giving it a try."
"Hehe." Madam Cai laughed. "Madam, no matter what clothes you wear, they will keep out mosquitoes. They're all layered in between."
“…Oh right.” Mu Run suddenly realized, “Look how slow I am to react, I was fooled by your family.”
"This material is quite rare."
"Well, it's a gift from someone who cares about it, so find a place to put it." Mu Run stretched. "I'm really sleepy."
After Hongmi tidied up the bathtub and took it out, she said to Murun, "Sister Run, if there's nothing else, I'll go back to my room to sleep first."
“Go ahead, go ahead,” Mu Run replied, and said to Cai Shi, “Sister Cai, you should go back too. I’ll go to sleep once my hair is dry. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow.”
Madam Cai nodded, "Alright, if you need anything, Madam, just call me."
...
Mu Run sat in the warm pavilion, flipping through the Book of Songs. She planned to give the tea she was making a few nice names, unique tea names that belonged only to her.
The flickering candlelight made me sleepy, and after turning only a few pages, I fell asleep on the small coffee table.
The room door was gently pushed open.
A tall figure entered the room and headed straight for the warm pavilion.
