I must say, this fox fur is quite warm, and it even carries his scent.
Once he warmed up, Mu Run ran faster and soon caught up with Fu Yunchen.
"Thank you, sir." Mu Run's voice was largely drowned out by the sound of horses' hooves.
Fu Yunchen ignored her.
They traveled day and night, changing horses but not riders. The caravan would only stop for an hour to rest, eat and drink, when they were too tired to ride anymore, before continuing their journey.
Finally, at midnight on the third day, while resting at a small temple along the way, Mu Run, dragging her leaden legs, collapsed in front of Fu Yunchen, utterly exhausted.
"My lord, no... I call you grandfather. Please allow me to rest for another hour. I really can't run anymore."
Fu Yunchen sat on a rock, with a clay statue of Guanyin behind him, looking at her with indifferent eyes, "If you can't run anymore, you don't need to follow."
"..." Mu Run felt like she'd been out of her mind to come talk to him. This old man hadn't paid any attention to her at all; even if she were to 'go home' right now, he wouldn't ask her a single question.
"I'm sorry to bother you, sir. You don't need to mind me." Mu Run turned and left. She had just seen a pile of thatched grass behind the small temple, which was a good place to go and rest.
Even though she has a slight obsession with cleanliness, she was too tired to be particular at the moment.
Fu Yunchen looked at her unnatural gait and said, "We've arrived at our destination. You can rest until dawn tomorrow."
Sure enough, she's an idiot. Why ask so many questions? Asking is the end of the line...
Seeing his eldest brother staring at the little girl, Qiao Dongzi smiled and asked, "Interested?" Sure enough, his eldest brother still liked the little girl, both before and now.
"Get out!" Fu Yunchen said softly, then closed his eyes to rest.
Curled up in the haystack, Mu Run quickly fell asleep.
But not long after, he woke up in a fright.
A low growl sounded from a dog.
A large yellow dog was approaching her, and it looked quite ferocious!
Looking at the big yellow dog drooling, Mu Run thought it might be a rabid dog carrying the rabies virus. If it bit her, she would be in big trouble! There was no rabies vaccine around here.
Immediately, without conscious thought, her body sprang to her feet, and she cried out in a drawn-out voice, "Help, help me—"
Her screams were so pitiful that they immediately attracted the attention of everyone in the temple. Several guards even rushed out, weapons gleaming coldly in their hands.
Fu Yunchen was a step too late... When he saw that it was just a dog and not an assassin, his brows relaxed slightly.
Upon seeing Fu Yunchen, Mu Run immediately ran towards him and hid beside him, ready to use Fu Yunchen as a shield at any moment.
When the big yellow dog saw a large group of people, and they looked menacing, it instinctively tucked its tail between its legs and ran away.
Fu Yunchen turned his head to look at Mu Run, who was quite frightened, especially since there were still a few strands of straw stuck in her messy hair. "Afraid of dogs?"
Seeing the big yellow dog disappear from sight, Mu Run's fear vanished, and he moved a little further away from Fu Yunchen. "It looked like a mad dog, I was a little scared. Thank you for saving me, sir."
Fu Yunchen tucked his hands into his wide sleeves, turned around, took two steps closer to her, and looked down at the little girl who barely reached his shoulder. "Oh? How do you want to thank me?"
"Offer yourself in return?" Mu Run blurted out without thinking.
Fu Yunchen's gaze suddenly deepened as he looked at her, then he returned to the temple without saying another word.
