After watching Liu Lao Er and the others leave, Fu Yunchen and Qiao Dongzi returned to the temple.
Wrapped in a fox fur coat, Mu Run smacked her lips and muttered, "Roasted whole deer...mine..."
Fu Yunchen, who was passing by her, was suddenly struck dumb, staring at her in utter shock!
...
The next day, the sun was high in the sky.
Mu Run woke up.
The person was on a horse-drawn carriage!
My body was relaxed, but a sudden wave of alertness washed over me. Then, I turned my gaze and saw another person in the carriage, and only then did I feel relieved.
Fu Yunchen had one leg flat on the ground, straight and long, and the other leg raised, with his arm draped lazily over his shoulder. He leaned against the carriage wall with his eyes closed, resting. He was probably not feeling well, as his brow was slightly furrowed and there were obvious dark circles under his eyes.
I hadn't noticed when he was awake that this guy could get tired too. Mu Run looked at his sleeping face. I have to say, a handsome man is a handsome man; he's pleasing to the eye even when he's asleep.
After admiring the sleeping beauty for a while, Mu Run tiptoed out of the carriage.
The driver, Qiao Dongzi, saw that Mu Run had woken up and gestured for her to sit down next to him. "How were you? Did you get enough rest?"
"Okay." Mu Run yawned and sat down lazily. Actually, she felt that her thighs were probably chafed raw and hurt terribly.
"I wish you were a man," Qiao Dongzi said with a smile.
"I think so too. If you're a man, you can be loyal to your country, travel all over the country, be a chivalrous hero, and do many things without restraint."
"Come in." A deep, slightly sleepy, hoarse voice came from inside the carriage.
Mu Run felt a chill run down his spine. He glanced at Qiao Dongzi and whispered, "The master is calling you."
Seeing her become so cautious, Qiao Dongzi chuckled mischievously, "Since the master has woken up, he needs a maid to help him get up. Which of us is the maid?"
"It looks like...it's me?"
"No need for 'seems like,' it is."
Mu Run, head drooping, endured the pain in his legs and buttocks, and now a bit of a headache, as he entered the carriage.
"Did you call for me, sir?" Mu Run asked cautiously.
Fu Yunchen looked at the timid little girl and remained silent for a while before saying, "No."
"Okay." Mu Run immediately felt no pain and quickly got out of the carriage.
When Qiao Dongzi saw her come out again, he handed her the riding whip.
'Snap!' Mu Run cracked the whip loudly, reverting to his old ways, 'I told you it was for you.'
Qiao Dongzi laughed and said, "Drive the carriage well."
Fu Yunchen took a letter and read it. After finishing, he handed it to Qiao Dongzi. "Prince Zhou's men made their move first."
Qiao Dongzi, "Shall we wait and see?"
The carriage was moving rather slowly.
Fu Yunchen glanced at the carriage curtain. "At fifteen, she's reached the coming-of-age ceremony and can serve others now."
The carriage jolted violently with a 'thud'!
“…If the boss is interested, that’s fine too.” Qiao Dongzi also looked at the carriage curtain, his eyes full of mischief.
"Hmm, a little," Fu Yunchen replied lazily.
"Should I make preparations?"
Mu Run finally couldn't hold back any longer. He cracked his whip, lifted the curtain, and said to the two men inside, "To gossip about someone behind their back is truly the act of a petty person!"
"Eavesdropping is a grave taboo for slaves. The consequences range from death by beating and implicatement of the entire clan to being sold into prostitution or the battlefield." Fu Yunchen looked at her puffed-up face, a smile playing on his thin lips, like a devil's hook tempting the world. "Which one do you want?"
"I don't want either of them!" Mu Run replied decisively, then lowered the carriage curtain, a sudden unease rising in her heart. Could this guy really have sold her off?
