Chapter 15: Did He Agree or Not?

Mu Run obediently opened it... and found a small, square tea cake.

"Tea cake?"

"Yes, I saw that my sister-in-law likes tea, so I bought a piece. It's not as good as the one from the Xiangxiufang shop, but it should be fine to sip water from."

"Thank you." Mu Run felt a little better. She looked down and smelled the aroma of the tea. It was aged white tea with a faint medicinal scent.

"That's nice. Where did you buy it?"

"There was a tea peddler by the roadside. He said his family was in the tea business, but a few days ago, something happened to his family, so he was selling some of his family's treasured tea. But I could tell he just wanted to sell tea; he was telling stories to entice people to buy more."

"You're quite shrewd."

Mu Run followed Hong Mi back to the boat the bandits had hired.

It was a large ship with two decks. The first deck was for loading cargo and where most of the bandits rested.

The second floor was where valuables were stored and where Fu Yunchen rested. Mu Run, as the bandit's wife, naturally lived on this floor as well. Hongmi, who served Mu Run, was in a small side room next to hers.

Hongmi bought a lot of things on South Street, but because she was busy looking for Murun, she didn't organize them and they were piled up messily all over the room.

"Sister-in-law, why don't you go back to your room and rest first? I'll finish tidying up and then come over to serve you." As she spoke, Hongmi took out a strap she always carried with her from her sleeve, neatly tied the sleeve, and prepared to get to work.

Mu Run said, "Let me help you."

Hongmi quickly shook her head, "No need, no need, this little task can be finished quickly. If you feel bored, you can go to the boat deck outside and look at the river view."

"Aren't you afraid I'll run away again?" Mu Run suddenly asked.

Hongmi paused for a moment, then denied it, saying, "I'm not afraid. My sister-in-law isn't stupid; she knows what the best course of action is."

Mu Run: "...What if I am a stupid person?"

Hongmi: "So, is that your sister-in-law?"

Mu Run gave a wry smile, "I'm going out for a walk."

Of course she wouldn't. If she could be blocked on North Street, escaping from this den of thieves would be even harder. Besides, there was water all around, and she couldn't swim. The only way to leave the den right now was to get Fu Yunchen to show mercy, or wait for another opportunity.

Hongmi replied, "If you need anything, just call me, sister-in-law."

"Okay." Mu Run didn't go outside. Instead, she went back to her room, lay weakly on the bed, and drifted off to sleep.

It's not physical exhaustion, but mental exhaustion. The feeling of failure—after planning for so long and finally getting the opportunity, only to have it all fall apart—is incredibly frustrating.

Mu Run fell asleep and even had a dream.

In her dream, she was a teenager, carrying a tea basket on her back, heading up a mountain to pick tea leaves. Suddenly, she discovered a tea tree she had never seen before, with a plump, white tea fruit on it. She immediately went over to pick the fruit.

Just as his hand was about to reach it, his foot suddenly gave way, and he plummeted into a bottomless black hole...

Startled, she suddenly opened her eyes and woke up.

Fu Yunchen was standing by her bedside, carrying a bundle in his hand.

Seeing that she was awake, he immediately threw the bundle he was carrying over her head.

Mu Run, who was already terrified by the nightmare, was further stunned by the heavy bundle, and her vision blurred.

He was instantly furious. "Are you crazy?!"

Just as Fu Yunchen was about to leave, he heard her words and immediately leaned forward, looking down at her pink lips that she had just woken up.

"What, what are you going to do?" Mu Run began to feel uneasy, her eyes filled with wariness!

Fu Yunchen's gaze moved from her small mouth to her eyes, his thin lips curving slightly, revealing a mischievous meaning, "Be a good girl!"

After saying that, he patted her head lightly with his long, beautiful hand, then turned and left.

Mu Run, whose head was still ringing from being hit, didn't react until the door closed. "..."

Besides the jewelry Fu Yunchen had given her, the bundle also contained two new sets of clothes and shoes.

The clothes are made of the finest jade brocade material from Hunan embroidery.

Hunan embroidery and jade brocade cost ten taels of silver per foot. These two sets of clothes would require about five meters of material. Including the workmanship, these two sets of clothes would cost at least one hundred and fifty taels.

She had just run away, yet instead of scolding or beating her, he gave her precious jewelry and beautiful clothes.

Sure enough, this guy is mentally ill, seriously ill!

In college, Mu Run had a roommate who loved cosplay and even made her own outlandish costumes. She was the most easygoing person in the dorm and was always dragged into modeling and trying on clothes. So she wore almost all of these ancient costumes.

The two outfits were so beautiful that Mu Run couldn't resist the urge to try them on. In the end, unable to resist her curiosity, she picked up a light smoky purple embroidered dress.

The brocade robe embroidered with peonies and green leaves in a circular pattern, and the pleated skirt with peonies in the same color, were truly exquisite and intricate. If her roommate saw them, she would probably be overjoyed.

Her thick, soft long hair was styled into a near-fragrant bun, with a peach blossom-patterned gold hairpin inlaid with pearls inserted diagonally. On her feet were a pair of shoes with a thick sole of about four centimeters, embroidered with peony feathers and cloud patterns. Finally, she played with a colorful embroidered peacock feather jade fan in her hand.

As the saying goes, clothes make the man and a saddle makes the horse. With this outfit, plus the gentle and graceful charm that Mu Run exudes from her very bones, she looks like a completely different person.

Hongmi came in carrying a rather large box, and when she saw Murun's appearance, she froze on the spot.

"Who are you?"

"..."

"Sister-in-law?"

“I’m a few years older than you, so please call me Sister Run.”

"Okay. Run-jie, you look so beautiful now!"

“The clothes are beautiful. There’s another set over there, why don’t you try it on?” Mu Run pointed to the clothes on the bed.

Hongmi quickly refused, "No, no, I can't wear this. I won't be able to work. I'm more comfortable in coarse clothes."

"Yes, that's true." Mu Run immediately changed out of her clothes.

"No, Run-jie, you look so good in it, let the boss see."

"Show him?" Mu Run remembered that he had just taken advantage of her, and that he had brought her these beautiful clothes. She took off her clothes even faster. "No way, my own clothes are more suitable."

Fu Yunchen's room was right across from Mu Run's. He came up the stairs, intending to go back to his room, when he overheard Hongmi and Mu Run's conversation.

Out of curiosity, he pushed open the half-closed door of Mu Run's room without considering whether it was safe to push it open.

What came into view was... Mu Run had just unbuttoned the pearl collar of his shirt, revealing a patch of delicate, porcelain-white skin that had never been exposed to sunlight for years, with a few bright red marks left by him.

Fu Yunchen: "..."

Mu Run: "..." Silently put her clothes back on.

Hongmi: "Oh, Boss is back! Look how beautiful Runjie is! Boss should buy more pretty clothes for Runjie in the future."

Fu Yunchen closed the door again, followed by the sound of the door opening and closing.

Redmi looked puzzled: "Does this mean they agreed or not?"
