However, Fu Yunchen was someone she couldn't reach, and her constant fantasies led to distorted thoughts. She found a substitute... but secrets don't stay hidden forever, and Prince Zhou found out about it.
Prince Zhou was furious and wanted to abandon her and send her to the royal temple to become a nun.
“You’ve made a pretty big mistake. Your royal uncle sent you to the Imperial Temple only because of the Prime Minister’s residence. If it were anyone else, they would have been beaten to death and thrown to the wild dogs long ago. They wouldn’t even have given you a thin straw mat.”
"Princess, save me!" Li Yingyu kowtowed repeatedly.
Xiao'an looked at her and sighed, "After all, we are cousins, and I can't just watch you walk down a dead end. How about this, you can stay at my residence for now. I'm sure your royal uncle won't trespass on my princess's residence. Later, when your royal uncle's anger subsides, I'll plead for you and see if you can be allowed to go to a manor in the suburbs. That's much better than going to the royal temple to live a life of solitude and eating only vegetarian food every day."
"Thank you, Your Highness. I will never forget your kindness."
"What are you saying? Get up."
...
Qiao Dongzi came looking for Mu Run, carrying a cloth bag. Qiao Yu, Xiao Xing, and Xiao Cao were also there.
Mu Run glanced at the three people beside her and, seeing their curiosity, asked, "Brother Dongzi, what is this?"
"This is from your sister-in-law." Qiao Dongzi handed her the cloth bag.
Mu Run looked bewildered. "You gave this to me by my sister-in-law?"
I opened the cloth bag and looked inside; there were five dried ducks.
Mu Run's eyes lit up, and she said to Qiao Dongzi, "Thank you for remembering, sister-in-law. I will definitely eat well."
"Let me know if you like it, I'll be going now."
"Yeah, Brother Dong is busy."
After Qiao Dongzi left, Mu Run immediately divided the dried ducks into portions, one for each person, saying, "Come on, everyone gets a share, let's eat together."
"Thank you, Hualing." Qiaoyu accepted the plump and fragrant dried duck.
Xiao Xing started eating right away. Being a glutton, she basically wouldn't let the food sit overnight. "It's so delicious, I could open a shop and sell it."
Xiao Cao was a little shy, holding the dried duck, reluctant to eat it, "Thank you, Sister Ling."
"Don't be shy." Mu Run tore off a leg of dried duck, took a bite, and found it fragrant and chewy. "It's really good. You should try some too."
While eating the dried duck, Mu Run recalled a poem about ducks. Her brother's daughter was learning Tang and Song poetry, and he insisted on teaching her to read it together. In the end, the little girl couldn't memorize it, but Mu Run did.
His eyes were filled with memories of the past. He said to the three women, "How about I teach you a poem?"
"Okay, okay." Xiaoxing's mouth was covered in the grease from eating duck.
Mu Run smiled and said, "It's about ducks. It's an ancient poem, cough cough~ Auspicious duck smoke is thick. At dawn, the sound of strings and pipes echoes in the frosty sky. The chill of winter is dispelled, and spring's beauty is borrowed, filling the garden with fragrant breezes. When will people descend from the Jade Palace? Remembering a thousand years ago, we celebrate this day. Holding full cups of jade wine, amidst the orchids and magnolias, in the brocade light..."
Mu Run was teaching three maids to read words, while Fu Yunchen listened from behind a wall.
Qiao Dongzi said, "This girl is quite talented."
"He said he didn't like reading." Fu Yunchen smiled and left.
Qiao Dongzi chimed in, "If someone loves reading, they can rival an adult."
Fu Yunchen, "..."
...
After finishing the duck, Mu Run was almost full. He said to the three women, "I'm going to wash my hands. You guys keep eating."
When Mu Run arrived at the well where he was washing his hands, he was about to draw water when he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He dropped the bucket and retreated as fast as he could.
A sharp blade grazed a few strands of her hair and fell away.
