Chapter 28 Favor

Liu Lao Er said, "Xue Niang, we must not boost the morale of others and diminish our own. As the saying goes, even a powerful dragon cannot suppress a local snake. Even if the Wu army comes, they may not be able to do anything to us."

"What does the chieftain think?" Yan Zhengkun asked.

Fu Yunchen asked Zhong Jiu, "What's the reaction within the imperial court?"

Zhong Jiu replied, "One battle, one peace, a fierce storm, neither side willing to yield."

Fu Yunchen was silent for a moment, then said, "The Northern Jin Dynasty is on its last legs, and all forces are waiting for an opportunity to rise up. Emperor Xiaozhi's move is absolutely in line with the wishes of all parties. As a result, great chaos is imminent, and it is hard to say whether the Wu Kingdom can even advance into the Northern Jin again, let alone come to Chongyang Mountain."

"Should we take this opportunity?" Bai Shalu gripped the golden flute in his hand, his ambitious eyes fixed on Fu Yunchen.

Fu Yunchen glanced at him, "Immovable Venerable, sit back and watch the tigers fight."

...

In the evening, after dinner and a bath, Mu Run lay in the small garden, closing her eyes to enjoy the comfortable, warm spring breeze, not wanting to move at all. Fu Yunchen hadn't visited her for several days; he must have seen a great beauty like Bao Chan, and she, this little nobody, had been abandoned.

This is truly something to celebrate!

If there's alcohol, we should definitely have three drinks to celebrate.

As Mu Run was basking in his smug thoughts, Madam Cai walked up to him and whispered, "Madam, the chieftain has arrived."

"Hmm, hmm?" Mu Run immediately opened her eyes. "Why is he here? You must be seeing things."

Fu Yunchen heard her reluctant tone, "What, you don't want me to come?"

"Of course it is... no!" Mu Run gave a fake smile, the kind that couldn't be more fake.

Fu Yunchen walked to the recliner where she was lying, looked down at her, and said, "You seem to be enjoying yourself."

Mu Run was too lazy to get up. "Where's the comfort? I'm exhausted. I still need to do some rough processing of the tea leaves that have been withered these past two days."

Fu Yunchen picked up a strand of her still damp hair. "Have you taken a shower?"

Alarm bells rang in Mu Run's head as she glared at him, "What...what are you going to do?"

"You." Fu Yunchen replied with a single word, then bent down, picked her up, and walked towards the room, saying to Madam Cai as they walked, "No one is allowed to disturb us."

Madam Cai smiled and bowed, agreeing, "This servant obeys."

Mu Run struggled violently in Fu Yunchen's arms, "I don't want to, I don't want to."

"You don't want it, but I do!" Fu Yunchen lowered his head domineeringly, kissed her lips, and imprisoned her with both hands.

Mu Run could only endure his furious tirade...

Outside Zhengxiang Garden, Baochan's personal maid, Xiaoli, hurriedly left and returned to Fangyu Xiaozhu, where the sound of zither music lingered.

Not long after, the music abruptly stopped.

Little Fox exclaimed, "Miss, your hand!"

Blood was gushing from Bao Chan's left index finger.

"You're saying the chieftain went to Zhengxiangyuan?"

"...Yes. But it shouldn't be a problem for the chieftain to go to the lady's place, right?"

"Madam? Does she look like a bandit's wife? I recognize Tou Xue Niang, I will never recognize her."

"Miss, I heard that Xue Niang brought up the Madam at the meeting in the main hall today."

"What did he say? What was the chieftain's reaction?"

"It was about picking tea leaves. The village chief shielded his wife from it and even said... as long as his wife doesn't betray him, it doesn't matter what she does."

"What! He dotes on her so much?"

"This servant thinks that the chieftain might just be giving her face. If she were looked down upon, the chieftain would also lose face. However, this lady is indeed not worthy of our chieftain."

"Not only are they not worthy, they're not even worthy of carrying my shoes!"

...

The next day, when Mu Run went up the mountain to pick tea leaves again, he had to support his back from time to time, and his legs would become weak and he would want to rest after walking for a while.

Seeing this, Hongmi quickly came over to support her, "Sister Run, are you feeling unwell? Why don't you not go up today? I'll keep an eye on things for you."

"I strained my back while sleeping last night, and it's a bit uncomfortable. I'll be fine after a rest; it won't affect my climb up the mountain." Inwardly, however, she cursed that beastly chieftain. How petite she was, and how utterly heartless she was… Thinking of last night, Mu Run's ears subtly turned red as she continued, "Looks like quite a few more people have come today."

“If it’s profitable, everyone will definitely come.” Hongmi helped Murun up, and suddenly noticed a suggestive red mark on Murun’s neck. She had seen a similar mark on Murun before.

Hongmi immediately understood the real reason behind her "back strain".

She whispered to Mu Run, "The chieftain really dotes on Sister Run!"

Mu Run's face instantly turned as red as if she were drunk. "What nonsense are you spouting? I'll beat you up!"

Hongmi dodged aside and then ran towards the guards who were following the tea pickers.

Mu Run's back ached, and he couldn't keep up with her, so he gave up.

But soon after, the guards came carrying a sedan chair.

“Madam, please use the sedan chair,” one of the guards said, and placed the sedan chair on the hillside.

"I didn't call for a sedan chair," Mu Run said, looking puzzled.

Hongmi came over and said, "I called, Sister Run, please go upstairs quickly."

"I'm not that dramatic," Mu Run shook her head, indicating that she didn't need to be.

"Since we're already here, let's get in quickly." Hongmi pushed Murun into the sedan chair.

Being carried along, she began to feel a little dizzy and unsteady, especially on the mountain path, which made her feel very unsafe. Besides, everyone else was walking, and it was strange that she was the only one riding in a sedan chair. But as she looked around, it seemed that no one seemed surprised to see her in a sedan chair; it was as if she was meant to be.

"Run-jie, I have something to tell you." Seeing that Mu-run was very nervous, Hong-mi knew that she had never sat in this before, so she talked to her to distract her.

Mu Run gripped the edge of the sedan chair. "What is it?"

Hongmi said, "A new waitress named Mo Xiaowan has joined the inn."

"Huh? What did you say her name was?" Mu Run asked.

"Mo Xiaowan, it's said she's related to the boss."

Mu Run, unaware of this, asked, "Why did she go to the inn?"

"Sister Run knows her?"

“When I first arrived at Bianyun Village, it was she who led the way and took me to Chongyi Hall.”

"Uncle Yang said she made a mistake on the mountain. Originally, the eldest brother was going to find her a husband, but she didn't want to, so she came to the inn to help with the work and temper her temper. But these past few days she hasn't done any work at all. Yesterday, I don't know what got into her, she insisted on pulling up the vegetables in the garden and made Yang Yang plant flowers."

"Planting some flowers and plants in the inn will make the guests feel more comfortable, which is great." Mu Run didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

Redmi thought for a moment, "That makes sense."

“We’re all teenagers, the same age group, there’s nothing we can’t understand. If she does something outrageous, then you can intervene.”

"Well, that's why I told Yang Yang to take good care of this lady. Anyway, there are no other guests at the inn, so we can use her as a practice subject for dealing with difficult customers."

"...Haha, you're the most cunning one."
