Zhong Jiu hurriedly came to find Fu Yunchen.
Fu Yunchen had just carried Mu Run to bed to rest. Suffering from morning sickness, she appeared particularly weak after falling asleep, and Fu Yunchen carefully covered her with a blanket.
"Your Majesty," Zhong Jiu called from outside the door, his voice tinged with urgency.
Fu Yunchen lowered the bed curtains, gesturing for him to wait a moment before speaking.
After closing the door, Zhong Jiu reported, "Old Bai is injured."
Fu Yunchen frowned slightly. "How serious is the injury?"
Zhong Jiu: "The external injuries are nothing, the problem is that I've been poisoned by corpse poison."
...
Fu Yunchen was no stranger to corpse poison; he even raised a wandering corpse named Flying Snow General.
But when they saw the white-eyed creature with greenish tinges and its skin with a bluish-gray hue, they were startled.
Bai Shalu had an open, festering wound on the back of his hand, as if scratched by the sharp claws of a wild beast.
"What happened?" Fu Yunchen asked Bai Shalu.
"The deputy commander of Yongzhou City turned into a monster, not even human, with a blue face and fangs, and limbs like the claws of a wild beast, like the legendary blue-faced demon, with claws covered in corpse poison." Bai Shalu recalled the scene, his eyes full of solemnity, "When I struck him with my sword, it was as if I had struck a rock."
Qiao Dongzi said, "There are some old people, women and children in the secret passage. They are like dead puppets, obeying the orders of that blue-faced deputy admiral. Only by beheading or stabbing them in the heart can they fall to the ground and die completely. However, they can still move even if their arms or legs are cut off, and no blood flows out of their bodies, not even black blood. There is only thick, putrid, dark green corpse fluid."
Fu Yunchen looked at Bai Shalu, condensed his inner force into a blade, and cut open Bai Shalu's injured wrist.
Some of the dark red blood contained some dark green wisps.
His pupils dilated slightly, and he shouted at Bai Shalu, "Open your mouth!"
Bai Shalu obeyed.
Fu Yunchen used his qi blade to cut his finger, and blood instantly gushed out, dripping into Bai Shalu's mouth.
"Boss, it's you!" Qiao Dongzi immediately tensed up.
Fu Yunchen said, "If even my blood can't save him, then let's prepare for his funeral."
Bai Shalu swallowed Fu Yunchen's blood. He had drunk his own blood before; once, when he was angry, he would have a nosebleed, and lying on his back, the blood would flow down his nose and into his throat, gulping it down. At the time, he found the taste to be fishy and salty, and a little nauseating. But the king's blood was different... it had a fragrant aroma.
Uh! Does being good-looking mean even your blood smells sweet?!
As the wounds on Fu Yunchen's fingers gradually healed, the green veins in Bai Shalu's eyes began to disappear, and the blood flowing from his wrist began to turn back to bright red.
Qiao Dongzi breathed a sigh of relief and said to Bai Shalu, "Congratulations, Lao Bai, you've escaped with your life."
"Get out!" Bai Shalu cursed, then moved his previously stiff body and found that he had returned to normal.
He got off the bed and knelt down before Fu Yunchen, saying, "Thank you, Your Majesty, for saving my life. I will serve you with my life."
Fu Yunchen pulled him up, "You rest first, Dongzi and I will go to the secret passage."
Bai Shalu said, "That vice admiral who has undergone such an anomaly is truly strange. Your Majesty must be careful."
Fu Yunchen suddenly remembered what Mu Run had said about burning corpses and asked Bai Shalu, "How are the martyrs of our army who died in battle usually dealt with?"
Bai Shalu said, "If it's a complete body mortise and the home is relatively close, we'll send it directly back so the family can see it one last time before burial. If it's a more gruesome case and the home is far away, we'll cremate the body, put the ashes in an urn, add some compensation money, and send it back."
