Fu Yunchen released Huanhuan's little hand, helped her straighten her sleeping position, and watched her fall asleep again before chuckling softly, "It happened today. They were playing with Hu Zi. Tuan Tuan wanted to play chess with Hu Zi, and Huanhuan wanted to shoot arrows with Hu Zi. The two of them were fighting over Hu Zi."
Mu Run looked at him in surprise, "How did you know?"
Fu Yunchen said, "The servants who accompany them report to me everything that happens to them every day."
"You can manage to take care of yourself? What about me?" Mu Run asked, "Do you know what happened to me?"
Fu Yunchen did not deny it, "Even when I'm outside, news still gets through."
Mu Run's pink lips pursed slightly, revealing a hint of resentment. "So I wait for your reply every day, you know that, right?"
Fu Yunchen: "..."
"Is that the default?" Mu Run opened her mouth and bit down on his carotid artery, but did not bite down hard.
Fu Yunchen's body tensed, and his voice grew even hoarseer, "I'm sorry, I'll tell you the reason later."
Mu Run loosened her teeth and looked up at him. "The reason? Isn't it because you hate me?"
Fu Yunchen chuckled, "How could that be? I want you so badly, how could I possibly dislike you?"
Mu Run didn't believe it. "A man's words are deceitful!"
Fu Yunchen: "...Where did this feeling come from?"
Mu Run rolled over, turning away from his embrace. "I'm not telling you."
Fu Yunchen pulled her closer again, "I won't lie to you."
Mu Run curled her lips into a smirk. "But she'll keep it from me."
"Go to sleep." Fu Yunchen hugged her tightly.
Mu Run nudged him, but he didn't push her away. "I'm not sleepy anymore."
"I'm tired." His voice carried a hint of weariness.
Mu Run couldn't help but feel sorry for her. "Then, go to sleep."
...
The next morning, Mu Run woke up.
Fu Yunchen has already left; only Huanhuan and Tuantuan are still asleep.
Mu Run nestled lazily in the blankets, smelling the scent left by Fu Yunchen, recalling what he had said last night... the reason, what reason he couldn't tell her now.
He shook his head again. "Fine, as long as he hasn't changed his mind, let's just let this matter rest."
Once the words were out, I felt a sense of relief. Indeed, there are some things that don't need to be questioned to the end; sometimes it's better to be a little oblivious.
Tuan Tuan woke up.
He rubbed his eyes and saw Mu Run beside him, so he obediently called out, "Good morning, Mother."
"Good morning, Tuantuan. Do you need to pee?" Mu Run asked.
Tuantuan nodded, then got out of bed, bypassing Huanhuan who was still fast asleep and slouching.
After she finished urinating, she climbed back onto the bed, crossed her legs, and asked, "Where's Daddy?"
"He must have gone to do some work. By the way, you and your sister don't need to go to school today." Thinking about the recent corpses in the palace, Mu Run decided it was best to stay by her side. It wouldn't be too late to go to school when it was safer.
“Today is the Midnight Witchcraft class,” Tuantuan replied.
"Huh?" Mu Run was taken aback. "Are you with Zi Wu today?"
"Yes. Last time you said you would teach us how to use witchcraft to control objects."
“Then let Ziwu come to Mother’s for lessons. I’ll also take the opportunity to see how you learn witchcraft.”
"Okay." Tuantuan looked at Huanhuan, who was still asleep, and patted her arm. "Sister, wake up."
Huanhuan shoved him aside with a slap, pouted, and said, "I want to sleep more."
Mu Run glanced at the bright sky outside, then gently patted her tummy. "Huanhuan, dinner's ready."
"What? Dinner's ready!" Huanhuan immediately jumped up.
Mu Run: "...This glutton, I wonder who he took after."
Lady Cai led her entourage into the bedchamber and happened to overhear Mu Run's words. She smiled and said, "It's a blessing that children love to eat."
