"Did I...did I say something wrong?" Tuantuan felt uneasy when she saw that they were all silent.
Fu Yunchen beckoned to him, "Come here."
Tuantuan walked over and said, "Dad."
Fu Yunchen pulled him into his arms. "It's alright, your mother will wake up."
"When will you wake up? I miss my mother." Tuantuan leaned against Fu Yunchen's chest, her eyes filled with longing.
Zhuangzhuang watched as Tuantuan snuggled up to Fu Yunchen and wanted to get closer, but he knew Fu Yunchen didn't like him, so he silently stood still.
Huanhuan patted his little shoulder, "Come here, let your big sister give you a hug."
"Sister, what does the lotus seed soup Mother Queen makes taste like?" Zhuangzhuang asked.
Huanhuan replied, "There are also some fruits and red beans inside, they're sweet and fragrant."
Suddenly, a loud eagle cry rang out from the sky.
Fu Yunchen looked up and whistled.
Gray swooped down from the sky.
It landed in front of Fu Yunchen.
Fu Yunchen looked at Huihui, who was now almost as tall as him, with a single wing spread over ten feet.
"You've really grown into a demon."
Grey Grey let out a cry like an eagle, and flapped its wings a few times. Suddenly, a huge wave of wind rushed towards Fu Yunchen and the three children.
Fu Yunchen was alright, but the three children were all scrambling around. Zhuangzhuang, in particular, even rolled over on the ground.
He grabbed Zhuangzhuang, pulled him into his arms, and shouted at Huihui, "Stop!"
Grey immediately stopped fanning herself.
Another female eagle descended from the sky, landing beside Gray Gray, appearing exceptionally small. Fu Yunchen recognized it as the same female eagle that used to follow Gray Gray around.
"You two are still together?" Fu Yunchen asked Huihui.
Grey nodded to him and let out a joyful eagle cry.
Looking at the size difference between the two eagles, Fu Yunchen found it hard to imagine how the two eagles could get along.
Perhaps... just being there for each other is enough.
Grey fluttered its wings and flew into the sky again, and the mother eagle followed it.
"Daddy, Gray is so big now." Huanhuan watched Gray and the mother eagle gradually disappear behind a white cloud.
“It’s no ordinary eagle,” Fu Yunchen said. “It has the blood of a mountain beast.”
Speaking of mountain beasts, Fu Yunchen's mind stirred...
He put Zhuangzhuang down from his arms and said to Huanhuan and Tuantuan, "Daddy is going to Chongyang Mountain."
"Oh." Huanhuan was a little reluctant to leave. "When will Daddy be back?"
"I'll be back after I finish my business; it shouldn't be long."
...
After sending the three children back to the palace and handing them over to Yun Ruji, Fu Yunchen rode off to Chongyang Mountain.
When Yun Ruji left, she instructed him, "If you can see the mountain god, that's fine; if you can't, don't go against his will."
"I know." Fu Yunchen rode away.
Yun Ruji sighed, looking at Fu Yunchen's back, "This child is so much like his mother. He dares to do anything for the one he loves, and he's also very reckless."
After riding at full speed for an hour and a half, Fu Yunchen arrived at the foot of Chongyang Mountain. Looking up at the lush and green Chongyang Mountain, he dismounted.
He let the horse graze and rest while he hiked up the mountain.
He kept walking, following the rich spiritual energy in the Chongyang Mountains, and the place with the richest and most profound spiritual energy should be where the mountain god resided.
After an unknown amount of time, a lake as calm as a mirror came into view.
A man was fishing by the lake. He seemed to know that Fu Yunchen was coming, as he had prepared another fishing rod and a futon next to him.
Fu Yunchen walked over and bowed respectfully, saying, "I apologize for my unauthorized visit, Mountain God."
“I’m idle all day anyway, sit down.” The mountain god glanced at him and gestured for him to sit on the futon and fish.
"Thank you, Mountain God." Fu Yunchen looked at the prayer mat, which was the same as the one in the Mountain God Temple.
After sitting down, I picked up the fishing rod and found that there was no hook, but I didn't mind and waited quietly.
The mountain god said, "I don't come to the Three Treasures Hall without a reason. Speak."
Fu Yunchen replied, "Indeed, I have something to ask you. Then I will speak frankly."
The mountain god responded with a "hmm".
"My wife is Empress Murun of Chongming Kingdom. Five years ago, when she was giving birth to her youngest son, the Corpse King defied the heavens and stole her unborn child, causing her soul to leave her body. I wish to find her; is there any way to do so?"
"I see that your soul has left your body more than once," the mountain god said, looking at Fu Yunchen.
"Five times, crossing the bridge."
"The Bridge of Fate... a spiritual treasure of the Witch Clan. Since you possess such a treasure, you should be able to find her, right?"
“I’ve been to the same continent, Zhen Continent, for five years, but each time I only have seven days. Before I can find her, I have to come back. Each time I come back, I have to wait a year.”
"You must find her, even if it means abandoning everything here?" the mountain god asked.
Fu Yunchen hesitated; he still had three children.
The mountain god seemed to sense his concerns and continued, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."
"What if I could give up everything here?"
"I'll give you a soul puppet, so you can stay there for a long time. After seven days, the soul puppet will return in your place. But your original soul may never come back."
"What is a soul puppet? Is it a real soul?" Fu Yunchen asked.
The mountain god replied, "Of course not. It is merely a spirit pouch imprinted with a trace of your soul."
As he spoke, a ball of golden spiritual light appeared in his hand. The light dissipated, and a transparent, egg-shaped spiritual pouch appeared in the mountain god's hand.
Fu Yunchen's fishing rod trembled and almost slipped from his grasp.
"Here you go." The mountain god used his spiritual power to drive the spirit pouch, which flew to Fu Yunchen.
