"That's really good." Madam Gong glanced outside the door, and seeing that no one was there, she lowered her voice and said, "It's better if no one from your husband's family is around. You'd be in real trouble if you encountered a wicked mother-in-law."
"What's wrong? Did my mother upset you?" Mu Run joked.
Madam Gong immediately denied it, saying, "Of course not, Mother is very good to me. In this world, no one dares to claim to be better than Mother, who is the best mother-in-law."
"Alright, alright, you know your mother loves you," Mu Run said with a smile, then picked up a bowl of already chopped minced meat. "Should this be seasoned?"
"Yes, you can adjust it."
"Okay." Mu Run looked at the prepared sauce on the table, smelled it first, and thought it was acceptable. He took a little bit and poured it into the minced meat. Then he secretly took out some seasonings from his space and added them to the minced meat as needed.
"Where is the sesame oil?" Mu Run asked Gong Shi.
Gong replied, "It's on the kitchen counter. Look for it. I'll go wash my hands."
Mu Run found the sesame oil jar and was about to scoop out the sesame oil with a spoon when she saw a moth floating on it. Moreover, the aroma of the sesame oil was not pure, as it was mixed with other oils.
Looking at Gong Shi washing her hands with her back to the kitchen, Mu Run took out an empty basin from her spatial storage, poured the sesame oil from the jar into it, and then took out another bucket of pure sesame oil and poured it into the sesame oil jar.
After washing her hands, Gong was walking towards the kitchen door when she smelled a rich aroma. "Wow, the sesame oil your brother bought this time smells really good."
While stirring the filling, Mu Run chimed in, "Indeed, it smells wonderful. Are we making dumplings?"
"These are steamed buns. Mother doesn't have a good appetite these days and can't eat unleavened dough. Steamed buns with leavened dough are easier to digest." Madam Gong came over and smelled the sesame oil. "This jar of oil is really good. When we go back to the capital in a couple of days, we must take it with us."
Mu Run smiled, then looked at her belly, "When are you going to give birth?"
"Two and a half months will pass quickly. Mother says it might be a girl, and I'm hoping it's a girl too. I'd be happy if she looked like you, her aunt."
"It's quite possible; many nieces resemble their aunts."
After finishing his homework, Su Shaoqian came to the kitchen to find something to eat. The aroma of various delicacies made his mouth water.
"Mom, Aunt, I'm hungry."
"Go find your father, we won't eat for a while," Gong said reproachfully.
Mu Run picked out the biggest and fattest chicken leg from the plate of freshly chopped roast chicken and handed it to Su Shaoqian, saying, "Come here, my dear nephew, this is for you."
Su Shaoqian quickly took it and ran off before his mother could say anything.
"How utterly ignorant!" Gong said with a smile.
"What's wrong with that? The child is just hungry, of course she needs to eat. She's growing, so she needs to eat well. We can't let the child's stomach suffer." As she spoke, Mu Run took another chicken leg and handed it to Gong Shi, "You should eat some too, don't let your unborn niece go hungry."
"I'm not hungry," Gong said, declining.
Mu Run didn't give her a chance to refuse, "Eat quickly, what other dishes do you want to make? I'll start."
In the kitchen, the two women, an aunt and a sister-in-law, chatted and laughed, getting along very well.
Su Shaoqian ran to his mother's yard with a chicken leg in his hand. Hearing the voices inside, he noticed a stranger and quickly stopped, straightened his clothes, and knocked on the door.
Su Qi opened the door and, seeing it was his son, said irritably, "Why are you here?"
"I brought a chicken leg to Grandma. It was given to me by my aunt. It smells so good." Su Shaoqian carried the chicken leg into the house.
Upon seeing Shi Xuanshi, he stopped.
