Just before the city gates closed, Mu Run and Shi Xuan's carriage entered the capital.
Looking back at the people hurrying to get into the city, Mu Run sighed, "That was really close; we almost didn't make it."
"It's alright, I have an inn outside the city. Even if we can't enter the city, we can stay there temporarily." Shi Xuan held the riding whip, urging the horse to walk slowly.
"You even have an inn?" Mu Run looked at him in surprise, then burst out laughing. "I feel like I married a reclusive tycoon."
"Hidden Hero?" Shi Xuan asked, puzzled.
Mu Run looked him up and down, finding him unremarkable no matter how she looked at him. "It means he's a hidden tycoon."
Shi Xuan chuckled softly, his voice carrying an indescribable magnetism, "...I wouldn't call myself that, I can only say that I'm not worried about money right now."
"Ha, if you say that out loud, you'll deserve a beating. Even the emperor wouldn't dare say he has no worries about money."
"..."
Mu Run leaned against the carriage door, glancing at the flaking skin that had reappeared at his ears. "I have something to tell you. The day after our wedding, I went to pay my respects to the Princess, but she didn't see me. Do I have to pay my respects to her again from now on?"
Shi Xuan brandished the riding whip in his hand. "No need to go. You're just a stewardess, not someone from the Prince's harem. There's no reason for you to go and pay your respects to her."
"What if the princess assigns me tasks?"
"It depends on the situation." Shi Xuan looked at her. "Actually, I earn enough money to support my family, so it's fine if you stay at home and do nothing."
"That's a nice thing to say. But we're not really husband and wife, so it's better to keep our expenses separate." Mu Run stretched and rubbed his stomach, which was full from snacking all the way.
Shi Xuan drove the carriage without saying another word.
"Brother Shi, is that you?" a girl with some pockmarks on her face and a bundle on her back called out.
Shi Xuan stopped the carriage and got down. "Xiao Lian, what's going on?"
"I'm going to deliver some embroidery to Aunt Wang, could you give me a ride?" Xiaolian asked Shixuan, but her eyes were fixed on Murun.
Mu Run met her gaze and greeted her naturally, "Xiao Lian, is that you? I am Shi Xuan's wife."
"Huh? Brother Shi got married?" Xiao Lian exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise.
Shi Xuan nodded. "Get in the car first."
"Sister-in-law, you are so beautiful." Xiaolian's eyes were filled with amazement as she looked at Murun up close.
Mu Run smiled and said, "Thank you, Xiao Lian. You're very cute too."
Xiao Lian blushed slightly, then glanced at Shi Xuan and said, "Brother Shi is a little unworthy of Sister-in-law."
Shi Xuan: "..."
Mu Run laughed out loud: "Haha, right? I think so too."
"But Brother Shi is a very good person. Sister-in-law, you'll definitely be on the right track with Brother Shi."
"Yes, I think so too. Whoever follows your brother Shi is very lucky."
Upon hearing this, Shi Xuan looked at her, then raised his hand and touched the back of his ear.
"Perfect, here's a pair of pillowcases embroidered with the character 'double happiness' for you. May you be forever united and grow old together." Xiaolian took out a pair of bright red pillowcases from her bundle, embroidered with patterns of mandarin ducks playing in the water and gourds growing in abundance.
Remembering that she had just said she wanted to send embroidery work, Mu Run said, "No need, this is someone else's order, don't delay it."
Xiaolian replied, "No, no, this wasn't ordered by Aunt Wang. It was ordered by my neighbor's sister who's getting married. But she said a couple of days ago that she's not getting married anymore, so I'm taking these things to Aunt Wang."
"I see. Then I'll accept it without hesitation."
