...
Mu Run carried a full basket of vegetables and half a basket of eggs on her back and walked towards the city gate.
The guards at the city gate are playing cards.
One of them, taking a moment to glance at Mu Run, who was wearing a veil, saw that she was carrying vegetables and eggs on her back and assumed she was a village girl coming to the city to do business. Without asking any questions, he let her in.
After passing through the city gate and walking for a while, Mu Run turned into a small alley. Looking around to make sure no one was watching, he quickly put the basket and eggs into his spatial storage, then passed through the alley and entered another street.
The street was deserted; although there were many shops, none of them were open for business.
"It really is a night market; it doesn't open until night."
No sooner had he finished speaking than an unexpected restaurant opened its doors.
Mu Run hurried over and asked, "Hello, are you doing business now?"
The restaurant waiter draped a clean white rag over his shoulder. "Of course, of course. What would you like to order, sir?"
"A pot of tea."
"Alright, please come in." The waiter greeted them warmly.
"We have the finest Jade Dew and Immortal's Intoxication drinks, as well as large bowls of refreshing Gao Sui and Xiang Mo. What would you like to drink, sir?"
Mu Run, "Let's start with a pot of Jade Dew."
"Alright, a pot of Jade Dew tea—" the waiter called out to the kitchen inside, then asked Mu Run, "Wouldn't you like some appetizers to accompany your tea, sir?"
"Let me look at the recipe."
"good."
The waiter gave the menu to Mu Run.
Mu Run looked at the prices written on it. Jade Dew was two taels a pot, while Gao Sui and Xiang Mo were only two coins. The price difference was quite large.
"Aren't you going to serve a couple of tea snacks?" Mu Run asked the waiter.
The waiter smiled and said, "A plate of peanuts and a plate of osmanthus cakes will be served to you along with the tea."
"Then I'll have another cold lamb dish and a basket of crab roe buns."
"Crab roe buns, you may have to wait a little longer, but we'll wrap them up for you right away. They'll be ready in about the time it takes to drink two cups of tea."
"Okay, I'm not in a hurry."
"Alright then, please wait a moment, sir."
After the tea and snacks were served, Mu Run watched as the waiter carried a kettle of hot water and poured it into the teapot.
The teapot is filled to eight-tenths full. The waiter puts the lid on the teapot and, after a few breaths, pours all the tea from the teapot into the teacup, and then from the teacup into small cups.
Watching this performance, Mu Run nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad."
"Thank you, sir. Please enjoy your tea." The waiter finished pouring tea for Mu Run and prepared to leave.
Mu Run said, "Wait a moment."
"Is there anything else you need, sir?"
Mu Run took out a few coins from his sleeve pocket and placed them on the table. "Here's a tip for you."
The waiter was surprised that Mu Run would give him a tip, and became even more enthusiastic, "Thank you, sir."
Mu Run continued, "I have a question."
The waiter nodded. "Please ask. As long as I know the answer, just tell me."
"I'm new to Youdu and don't know much about the area. Where should I go to ask for information?"
"Sir, you may visit the Star Gazing Tower."
"The Stargazing Tower? Where is it?"
"It's not far. Just walk east along this street, and at the second fork in the road, turn right and you'll see it. The Star Gazing Tower is a five-story building. When it gets dark, it's brightly lit, and you can see it from here, sir."
"Okay, I understand."
"Please enjoy your meal, sir."
After the waiter left, Mu Run took a sip of tea. It lacked aroma and flavor, and was rather watery. It couldn't be considered a top-quality tea, but it was enough to quench his thirst.
When the crab roe buns were served, Mu Run took a bite... and found them quite delicious, so she immediately asked the waiter for another basket.
