Chapter 643 The Wedding (Part 4)
She used to think Su Xiao was just average-looking, not because she was blind, but because the mirror was faulty.
"Can I have this mirror? I think it makes me look pretty." Mu Run didn't want to return it.
Lin Tong breathed a sigh of relief. "Your servant welcomes you, young mistress. The Zhen Gui Mirror can be kept by you for the time being. As for whether it can belong to you, that requires the consent of the old lady."
"Okay." Mu Run turned to look at Leng Zhi, then asked Lin Tong, "What about them?"
"They will stay in a villa outside the manor first, and then enter the manor to attend the wedding banquet on the wedding day."
"Then let's arrange it this way. Remember to treat them well, but I won't let any mistakes go unpunished." Mu Run's expression hardened, and his imposing aura immediately emanated from him.
Lin Tong hurriedly bowed his head and said respectfully, "It is the young mistress."
Mu Run boarded a carriage, and before leaving, she lifted the curtain and waved to Leng Zhi.
Leng Zhi's expression did not seem pleasant.
Mu Run: "...?"
...
Mu Run sat in the carriage for an hour, then changed to waterways and took a boat for half an hour before finally arriving at his destination—Fuxi Manor.
Fuxi Manor is built on a sword-shaped mountain, surrounded by waters and shrouded by a defensive sword formation.
Mu Run finally understood why Leng Zhi had gone to such lengths just to get into the manor. Even as a layman, she could tell that this defensive sword formation must be very powerful.
Lin Tong used the communication talisman to notify the guards stationed at the formation. Then, the guards would personally open the door to the defensive sword formation for them before they could enter.
“There’s still a long way to the inner courtyard from here, and it’s riddled with mazes. Young Madam, you’ve had a long and tiring journey. Why don’t you go through the teleportation array?” Lin Tong said to Mu Run.
Mu Run nodded, "Okay."
The teleportation array was like a door. Stepping inside, you would see a white light and when you opened your eyes again, you would be in your destination, a courtyard of moderate size.
The courtyard is divided into two sections, front and back. The front section has three main rooms, left and right wing rooms, and side rooms. A wide jade stone walkway runs through the center, making it look quite grand.
The courtyard was very clean, but there were no lights in the main house.
Mu Run looked at the darkening sky. "Is nobody here?"
Lin Tong replied, "The young master is not in the front courtyard. Please come in, young mistress."
Mu Run followed him toward the backyard of the second courtyard.
The building in the backyard is a two-story building with a regular octagonal shape and red lanterns hanging from each corner of the eaves, as well as exquisite carvings.
In the courtyard stands a bronze sword cauldron, emitting wisps of smoke that seem to envelop the entire courtyard.
"What is this?" Mu Run asked Lin Tong.
Lin Tong replied, "This is a sword furnace, where a spirit sword is being nurtured. The furnace will be opened on the day the young mistress and the young master get married. This spirit sword is also one of the young mistress's betrothal gifts."
"Lin Tong, this must be the young mistress." A middle-aged woman, around fifty or sixty years old, hurried out from upstairs to greet her. She bowed respectfully before Mu Run, "This old servant, Min Shi, greets the young mistress."
Mu Run looked at Lin Tong.
The latter said to her, "She is from the Min family. She is the one who tells the young mistress about the rules of the manor and the young master's situation."
Mu Run lifted her skirt, gently bent her knees, performed a half-bow, and smiled, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, Granny."
Granny Min quickly stepped aside, repeatedly squatting down to return the courtesy, saying, "No, no, how could the young mistress bow to this old servant? It's too much of an honor for this old servant."
Mu Run smiled and said, "Granny, there's no need to refuse. I'm new here, so please feel free to tell me if I do anything wrong. Don't be shy."
“Young mistress is so well-educated and reasonable, this old servant is truly happy for the young master.” Granny Min’s old eyes were slightly red as she looked Mu Run up and down, and choked up as she said, “It’s a pity about the young master… otherwise they would have been a perfect match.”
“The young master will get better sooner or later,” Lin Tong sighed, though he himself didn’t quite believe his own words.
Mu Run was completely bewildered and didn't understand the situation. "Where is the young master?"
Lin Tong cupped his hands and said, "Then I will take my leave first. Granny Min will inform the young mistress of the rest."
Mu Run replied, "Okay."
After Lin Tong left, Granny Min led Mu Run into the small building. "The young master is inside. He just got drunk and has already gone to rest."
Mu Run smelled the strong smell of alcohol in the air and said, "They've drunk quite a lot."
"Sigh!" Granny Min sighed and led Mu Run into the bedroom.
On the weapon rack facing the entrance to the room lay a longsword. The floor was stained with wine, and there were two pieces of broken wine jars that had not been swept clean, indicating that they had been broken recently.
On the spacious canopy bed, a tall and slender man lay supine, his sword-like eyebrows furrowed, his face obscured by stubble, only his high, straight nose standing out like a mountain peak.
Mu Run frowned. "When will he wake up?"
Granny Min replied, "Around noon tomorrow, young mistress, please come with me to wash up and rest. There are still some things I need to tell you."
"Alright." Mu Run glanced at the young master again before leaving with Granny Min.
From Granny Min, Mu Run learned that the young master of the manor, Fu Lu, was originally a sword cultivation prodigy. He had already reached the Foundation Establishment stage before the age of twenty, and his strength was comparable to that of the Golden Core stage.
Later, Fu Lu's cultivation reached a bottleneck, and in order to break through it, he left the manor to gain experience.
He returned a year later, but his spiritual veins were completely severed, leaving him a cripple! This was the secret of Fuxi Manor. To the outside world, they only said that he had suffered serious injuries and was recuperating.
Later, the old lady had someone tell the young master's fortune. The young master was not without a chance; things would get better if he got married.
The young master did have a marriage arranged since childhood, but the other party somehow found out about Fu Lu's situation and directly broke off the engagement, and the two families no longer had any contact.
Just when the old lady didn't know what to do, the young master painted a portrait of a woman and said that the woman in the painting was his fiancée.
The old lady sent people to search everywhere, but they found only fakes.
Persistence pays off, and I finally found it...
Mu Run raised her hand to touch her face, looking at the painting Fu Lu had drawn; it really was exactly the same.
It's a pity, she's a fake too.
Shaking his head, Mu Run rolled up the painting and tossed it into the painting tube.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. The young master of the manor was not interested in finding the person in the painting. He didn't even look at her and continued to spend his days drunk.
Mu Run didn't care; as long as she got married, her mission would be accomplished.
With 500,000 taels of gold in hand, that should be enough for her to buy her way to the Zhen Continent.
The eighth day of the eighth lunar month is an auspicious day for marriage.
Mu Run was woken up while it was still dark.
The room was filled with maids and nannies, all waiting for her to put on makeup and get dressed.
Mu Run: "..."
This was far more grand than her wedding to Shi Xuan. (Biquge)
With everyone watching, she dared not stay in bed, so she quickly got up to wash and get dressed.
