Next to the roadblock was a thatched hut, and two soldiers were drinking in front of it.
Fu Yunchen stopped the carriage in front of the roadblock.
The soldiers exchanged a glance, put down their wine bowls, and came over.
"Do you have a travel permit? If not, it's one tael of silver per person."
"Robbery!" Mu Run had already been robbed of an unknown amount of money, but that was on someone else's turf. Now that they were at her own doorstep, she was about to be robbed again. Even with her good temper, she couldn't control herself anymore.
He raised his leg and kicked the roadblock away!
Several other people nearby, who wanted to cross the roadblock but had no money or travel permits, looked at Mu Run in surprise.
Fu Yunchen, wearing a bamboo hat that covered most of his face, sat motionless in the carriage, letting Mu Run vent his anger.
"Where did this shrew come from? Are you looking for death?" One of the soldiers drew his sword from his waist, pointing it at Mu Run with a fierce glare.
Mu Run picked up a stick from the roadside. "I think you're asking for a beating."
Seeing that Mu Run had picked up a stick, indicating that he was about to fight, the soldier immediately called to another soldier, "Something's about to happen."
"Then let's make an example of them and show these poor bastards what's what. They'll see if this roadblock of mine is just for show." As he spoke, he drew his knife and slashed at Mu Run.
Mu Run struck their hands holding knives with a stick.
With two sharp cracks, two knives clattered to the ground. Then, two soldiers clutched their wrists, screaming in agony.
"I've been holding back this anger, so I'm giving it all to you." As she spoke, she brandished her stick and gave the two soldiers a good beating.
The two soldiers initially hurled insults at Mu Run, but after receiving an even more severe beating from him, they began to kneel and beg for mercy.
Fu Yunchen got off the carriage and reached out to Mu Run for a stick, saying, "Give it to me."
When Mu Run saw that he was about to take over, he flicked his wrist and struck the two soldiers twice more with the stick, knocking them unconscious.
Because Fu Yunchen, when he makes a move, it's deadly!
He dropped the stick in his hand and pushed him back to the carriage. "They're just two vicious dogs. It's not worth your trouble. I can handle it. There are bigger ones in the back."
Then he addressed the other onlookers, saying, “Everyone, please go ahead. Prince Chongyang has not asked for any travel permits or expenses. Wherever you wish to settle, simply register your household information at the local government office. There will also be temporary housing, a large canteen, and job arrangements. If anyone charges you even a single penny, go directly to Yunzhai near Chongyang Mountain and report them to Prince Chongyang. He will surely punish them severely!”
"Really? We heard that there's a fee for settling in Chongyang Prefecture now," someone shouted.
“Tell me where you'll pay,” Mu Run asked.
"The nearest prefecture I heard costs twenty taels of silver per household."
"Let's start with the prefectural capital then," Mu Run said, turning to Fu Yunchen.
Fu Yunchen nodded.
Mu Run said, "Go ahead and do your thing. If the government dares to take your money, just go directly to Chongyang Mountain."
After saying this, he boarded the carriage, and Fu Yunchen shook the reins, sending the carriage speeding away.
The remaining men looked at the unconscious soldier and exchanged bewildered glances.
"Are you going or not?"
"Go, or you'll have no way to survive."
Is what that woman said credible?
“I think there’s a chance. Why don’t we go and take a look first? If it’s not like what she said, then we can go to Chongyang Mountain.”
"Alright, it's settled then. If they really do accept money, we'll go to Bianyun Village."
The group immediately followed Mu Run and Fu Yunchen's carriage and continued on their way.
