Chapter Sixty-Six: We're certified people now!

A few minutes later, a black sedan without license plates silently rolled over and stopped in front of them.

Two tall men in black jackets and sunglasses got out of the car. They had cold expressions.

One of them was carrying a brown paper bag.

Zhang Shaozhong's heart jumped into his throat, and he subconsciously moved closer to Ling Qingxue and Ye Meier.

"Did you bring the money?" the man carrying the paper bag asked, his voice hoarse.

"I...I brought it." Zhang Shaozhong handed over the schoolbag.

Another man took the bag, opened it, quickly checked it, and then nodded to his companion.

The man carrying the paper bag then handed it to Zhang Shaozhong: "Inside are two ID cards, with addresses in remote areas. They're absolutely clean and can withstand scrutiny. If anything goes wrong, you're on your own, understand?"

"Got it! Got it!" Zhang Shaozhong took the paper bag, his hands trembling slightly. He opened it and saw two brand-new ID cards inside! The photos were of two women he had taken with his phone before; their names were Ling Qingxue and Ye Meier, and the address was a small, unheard-of mountain village in southwest China.

It looks...like the real thing!

The transaction was complete. Without saying a word, the two men in black jackets turned around, got into their car, and quickly drove away, disappearing into the steel jungle of the junkyard.

The whole process was so fast it felt like a dream.

Zhang Shaozhong clutched the brown paper bag tightly until the car was out of sight, then let out a long sigh of relief, feeling his back was soaked with sweat.

"It's done...it's really done..." His voice trembled as he took out his ID card and handed it to Ling Qingxue and Ye Meier.

Ling Qingxue took the small card, her eyes filled with complex emotions as she looked at the unfamiliar name and information on it.

Is this proof of my existence in this world? So...light, yet so important.

Ye Meier also held her ID card, turning it over and over to look at it, and pouted: "Just this little card? It can prove who I am? How interesting."

"We're certified now!"

As the three walked out of the junkyard and looked at the long-lost normal streets, they all felt as if they had been transported to another world.

"Now... what do we do?"

Zhang Shao asked again, feeling as if he owned the whole world.

Ye Meier was the first to jump out, her eyes shining: "Nonsense! Of course we're going to eat something good! To celebrate! I want hot pot! The spiciest kind!"

This time, Ling Qingxue didn't object, but simply added, "Find a quiet and elegant place."

Zhang Shaozhong laughed heartily and waved his hand with great enthusiasm: "Let's go! To a restaurant! We'll drink until we drop... uh, fairy, please have some tea!"

He took out his phone and started searching for the highest-rated hot pot restaurants nearby.

The sun shines on me, warm and cozy.

Although the future remains uncertain and the constraints of the contract still exist, at least they finally have a legitimate starting point in this unfamiliar world.

A new life seems to be truly about to begin.
