Chapter Three: Battle Between Immortals and Demons!

Zhang Shaozhong huddled behind the giant mushroom rock, his hands tightly covering his ears, but the terrifying sound and vibration still penetrated everywhere, making his internal organs churn.

He felt like a leaf in a storm, about to be torn apart at any moment.

Curiosity eventually triumphed over pure fear. He gritted his teeth, trembling, and cautiously peeked half his head out from behind the rock, looking carefully in the direction of the sound.

He will never forget that one glance.

In the distance, the once soft and bright sky was now torn apart and filled with two completely different and terrifying energies.

On one side was an intensely bright platinum-gold light, holy, vast, and carrying a majestic aura that could cleanse everything.

At the center of the light, a tall and slender white figure could be vaguely seen, his robes fluttering, his face obscured. However, he was surrounded by countless sharp and unparalleled sword energies, which seemed to have a life of their own, swirling and turning into streaks of white rainbows that tore through the sky. Each strike carried the force of thunder, as if it could cleave mountains and split rivers!

On the other side, there was an intense, impenetrable black demonic flame, cold, violent, and filled with an aura of destruction and despair.

Within the demonic flames, a blurry black figure grinned maliciously, and with each swing, towering black flames rolled and condensed into huge skulls, ghostly claws, or ferocious demonic dragons, roaring and charging. Wherever it passed, even light seemed to be swallowed up, and space itself twisted and collapsed!

The demonic flames and the white sword energy collided wildly, each clash unleashing a deafening roar and a destructive energy shockwave. Colorful energy turbulence exploded and splashed everywhere like fireworks!

Sword energy surged! Demonic flames roared!

This is a battle that no human can comprehend!

This is like a myth come to life!

No, it's even more awe-inspiring than myths and legends!

Zhang Shaozhong's mouth dropped open, his glasses slipped down to the tip of his nose and he forgot to fix them. He stood frozen in place as if he had been frozen in place, his mind blank. All his scientific knowledge and materialistic worldview were shattered at this moment, leaving not even a trace.

"Immortal...Demon...?"

He squeezed out two words that even he found utterly absurd through gritted teeth.

The man in white swung his sword, unleashing a massive blade of light that cleaved the approaching demonic dragon in two. The dissipated sword energy rained down on the forest below like a meteor shower.

In an instant, it turned large swathes of glowing trees into dust, leaving deep, scorched trenches in the ground.

The man in black cackled, and demonic flames transformed into a gigantic hand that blotted out the sky, slamming down on the man in white.

The man in white moved with agility, transforming into a streak of light and flashing away. His demonic palm struck a glass-colored mountain wall in the distance, causing the earth to shake violently. The hard mountain wall melted and collapsed like a candle being scorched by high temperatures, and the broken rocks, carrying demonic flames, scattered in all directions like meteorites!

A stone burning with black flames, as big as a millstone, trailing a long tail of flame, roared toward the direction where Zhang Shaozhong was hiding!

"Oh my god!!!"

Zhang Shaozhong was terrified. He let out a strange cry, and his survival instinct kicked in instantly. He didn't care about hiding anymore and scrambled to the side.

Boom!!!

The burning boulder grazed his back and slammed into the giant mushroom rock where he had just been hiding!

The hard rock was easily smashed to pieces like tofu, and exploded!

The powerful shockwave, mixed with rubble and icy fragments of demonic flame, sent Zhang Shaozhong flying more than ten meters away!

"puff--!"

He crashed to the ground, rolling several times before stopping. A sweet taste rose in his throat, and he spat out a mouthful of blood. His bones ached as if they were falling apart, and his back burned, probably from being grazed by flying shards of stone and demonic flames.

But he couldn't even check his injuries; a strong fear of death gripped him.

He scrambled to his feet, almost instinctively, and crawled to hide behind a larger, half-buried black boulder nearby. He curled up into the smallest ball, trembling, his teeth chattering uncontrollably.

That's terrifying!

That's terrifying!

This is not something he should be watching!

Even just watching from afar, even just a little bit of the aftershocks of the battle, would be enough to kill him a hundred times over!

What kind of power is that?

Is that power that carbon-based life forms could possess? A sword that can split a mountain, a palm strike that can cleave lava!

The visual effects are 10,000 times more stunning than an IMAX 3D movie, but the real shockwaves and the threat of death are also 10,000 times more terrifying!

He was now 100% certain that he was no longer in his original world!

He had already left Earth the moment he passed through that icy "water film"!

Does this world have gods? Or demons?

Has he stumbled into the set of some fantasy novel?

The fierce battle in the distance continues, and it seems to have entered a white-hot phase.

The roars, explosions, sword blasts, and demonic howls grew increasingly intense and violent. Two figures clashed and intersected in mid-air at speeds imperceptible to the naked eye. Each clash caused the heavens and earth to lose their color, and energy storms swept through the entire valley, ravaging everything in their path.

Zhang Shaozhong clutched his head tightly, huddled behind the boulder, his heart filled with despair and confusion.

What should he do now?

Are we just waiting to die?

Who will win this battle?

If that demonic guy wins and discovers that he's just an "ant," will he just crush him on the spot?

If that white-robed immortal wins... how will the immortal treat this mortal from another world of unknown origin?

Neither outcome seems promising.

He now misses that ordinary, even somewhat boring, Earth immensely; he misses the potato and chicken stew in the school cafeteria; he misses his parents' nagging; he even misses his roommate Da Liu's raspy voice...

Just as he was lost in his own thoughts and filled with unbearable fear, the sounds of battle in the distance suddenly reached an unprecedented climax!

A pure white holy light that seemed capable of purifying everything collided violently with an extreme dark magical energy that devoured all things!

Time seemed to stand still at that moment.

Immediately afterwards—

"BOOM!!!!!!!!!"

A massive explosion, indescribable in words, suddenly erupted!

Zhang Shaozhong huddled behind the large, black rock that had saved his life, feeling like a tiny ant in a storm, about to be crushed into nothingness at any moment.

The commotion outside was beyond description; it wasn't a fight, it was a natural disaster!

This is the end of the world! It's like two mobile humanoid nuclear bombs exchanging fire!

He covered his ears tightly, but the sound seemed to seep into his very bones.

One moment there was the sharp, piercing sound of thousands of swords whistling through the air, making his head ache.

A moment later, there was the wailing of millions of wronged souls, a demonic sound that made his heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys tremble.

The energy shockwaves rippled outwards, sweeping across the ground. Even the giant rock he was hiding on was shaken and buzzed, with pebbles and dust constantly falling down, almost burying him alive.
