Chapter Two: The Strange Valley!

"Where...am I?"

Zhang Shaozhong muttered to himself, his voice hoarse.

He rubbed his eyes hard and then pinched his thigh.

Ouch! That really hurts!

It's not a dream!

Where the hell is that?!

A hospital? This is what an ICU looks like?

Heaven? The threshold of hell?

He found himself sitting on an absurdly thick, dazzlingly green lawn, the blades so lush they seemed to drip with moisture, soft and yielding underfoot like a high-class carpet.

The air I breathed into my lungs carried an indescribable freshness and...sweetness?

Yes, it's sweet, mixed with all sorts of exotic floral and fruity scents. Every breath invigorates you, and the aches and pains all over your body seem to lessen considerably.

The air quality is off the charts; the negative ion levels must be off the charts. Even the deepest part of Yunwu Mountain isn't this bad.

He looked up at the sky and was once again awestruck.

The sky was a very pure azure blue, but the light source was peculiar. The sun and moon were not visible; the light fell evenly, soft and bright but not dazzling, as if the entire sky itself was glowing, and it also had a faint, pearly, mother-of-pearl-like luster.

It is surrounded by towering mountain walls that reach into the clouds, but their shapes are extremely peculiar.

Some of the mountains were so smooth, as if they had been polished like glass, reflecting the sunlight.

Some were covered with jagged clusters of purple crystals, sparkling brightly;

Further away, mountain peaks appear in an unnatural spiral shape, making one dizzy and disoriented.

This terrain... even a geography teacher would be baffled.

He stood up and looked around.

This place appears to be a huge valley, with vegetation that is denser than one could imagine.

He had never seen many of these plants before, including some that looked like giant dandelions but emitted a faint blue glow.

There are shrubs bearing fist-sized, translucent red fruits that look like gemstones;

There are also vines twining around ancient trees, their leaves silver, swaying gently without wind, making a crisp sound like wind chimes.

"A glowing plant?"

Zhang Shaozhong stared intently at a clump of flowers and plants that looked like blue lanterns in the distance, his eyes almost bulging out of their sockets.

"This...this doesn't make sense biologically! Does photosynthesis really need to be this exaggerated?"

He took a cautious step forward, the thick moss under his feet was frighteningly soft, and he almost tripped again.

The valley was unusually quiet, with only the occasional ethereal and melodious chirping of birds or other creatures, and the babbling of the stream.

He walked toward the sound of water, parted a huge, banana-leaf-shaped leaf that shimmered with a metallic sheen, and a stream appeared before him.

The stream was crystal clear, with colorful pebbles covering the bottom and faint, stardust-like white specks floating on the surface.

He even saw several small, transparent fish, with only their skeletons emitting a faint glow, swimming around.

Is this water drinkable?

He licked his chapped lips, hesitated for a moment, then bent down and carefully scooped up a handful of water.

The water was pleasantly cool, with a hint of sweetness. After drinking it, a refreshing sensation instantly spread throughout my body, and even my mind became much clearer.

"This is divine water...!"

He smacked his lips, feeling even hungrier.

My stomach started growling.

He looked at the ruby-like fruits and swallowed hard.

He still has the common sense that the brighter the color, the more poisonous it is.

But the enticing aroma of fruit kept wafting into his nose, making his mouth water.

"Would you like to... just a small bite? Just a small bite?" This question kept swirling in his mind, as if two little people were fiercely fighting inside him.

One little person said, "You absolutely can't eat this! This thing looks very strange. Who knows if it's poisonous? What if you eat it and die from poisoning?"

Another little person retorted, "But if we don't eat, we might starve to death here! Do you really want to starve to death like this?"

His heart wavered between the two voices, unable to make a decision.

On the one hand, his fear of unknown foods made him hesitant to try them;

On the other hand, the feeling of hunger grew stronger and stronger, making it unbearable for him.

"What if it's not poisonous?" This thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

"Perhaps this is something edible, we just don't recognize it."

If we don't eat, we'll definitely starve to death here, so we might as well take the risk.

In the end, hunger overcame fear, and he decided to take a small bite.

He reached out, his hand trembling, and touched the tempting red fruit.

Just as my fingertips were about to touch the fruit...

"Buzz—!"

A deep yet penetrating hum suddenly came from a great distance, as if some enormous energy had been activated, causing the ground beneath his feet to tremble slightly.

Immediately afterwards!

"boom!!!"

A deafening roar suddenly erupted, like a thunderclap from a clear sky, even more terrifying than the thunder he had heard on the mountain!

The entire valley seemed to tremble with that deafening roar!

A powerful sonic wave rushed towards him, almost making him lose his balance. The strange plants around him swayed violently, making a rustling sound.

Zhang Shaozhong was so frightened that he recoiled from his hand, his heart pounding so hard it almost jumped out of his throat.

"What's going on?! Is it thundering?"

"Wait a minute! This clear blue sky... ugh, this sky without even a sun!"

He looked in horror toward the direction from which the sound came from, into the deeper part of the valley.

Before he could even react—

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
