After the negotiations with Huo Qin completely fell through that day, Xie Yulin never contacted him again.
The Huo family is the best partner, not the only one.
The projects managed by Xie naturally attracted numerous companies eager to invest and share in them.
Not cooperating with him would be a loss for the Huo family!
Xie Yulin was busy with the project and never returned to Guye Pavilion.
And Chaochao did indeed stay at home obediently the next day and did not go to school to pick up her brother Jingcheng.
But she went again on the third day.
The little girl called it her time to let loose.
She, she wasn't tempted by the street vendors' skewers of milk tea and candied hawthorn...
Xie Jingcheng still frequently went to the Huo family's house for dinner, because there were security guards leading pigs, sheep, and dogs to blatantly block people at the gate.
The driver dropped the person off right at the entrance of the Huo family villa.
"..."
Others passing by often caught glimpses of the Huo family of three dining together, leading many residents in the community to harbor their own suspicions.
When did the Xie and Huo families become a blended family?
...
On a sunny afternoon, Chaochao sat in her high chair, swinging her little legs, with a tablet on the counter opposite her.
"What is Chaochao doing?" the old man on the screen asked curiously.
Chaochao was engrossed in what she was doing, and said in her childish voice, "I'm making cookies~"
Dad is away from home today because of work.
When Chaochao saw that Aunt Ning was making cookies, she immediately got excited and raised both hands to join in.
The little girl rolled up her sleeves, revealing her chubby forearms that looked like lotus roots. Her smooth hair was tied into a fluffy bun, making her face appear even smaller and more delicate.
A wisp of slightly curled hair fell onto her cheek, tickling her. Chaochao raised her arm and rubbed it against her face.
The little hand fell down, leaving a smear of dark cocoa powder on the porcelain-white cheek.
Grandpa Huo on the other end of the video call immediately burst into laughter, "You little rascal!"
How can she be so cute?
Chaochao, however, was completely unaware of this. Her little face was serious and cautious, as if she were carrying out a major scientific research project that would advance human development for fifty years.
Then, start sprinkling flour.
She picked up a plastic measuring cup, filled it with flour, and poured it into a large basin. Aunt Ning watched the weight and called for a stop when it was almost ready.
"Alright, that's enough flour. You're great, Chaochao!" Aunt Ning praised.
Chao Chao breathed a sigh of relief; making cookies was indeed a very tiring task.
When we eat the cookies later, we must finish them all and not waste any!
Having successfully completed her mission, Chaochao pulled over a large basin, scooped out a clump of flour with her two little hands, and proudly held it up in front of the tablet. "Grandpa, look, this is the flour Chaochao poured!"
"I saw it! Chaochao is really amazing! She controlled the flour perfectly!" Old Master Huo praised her highly.
Chaochao's bright almond-shaped eyes curved like crescent moons. "Wait a minute, Aunt Ning is going to use it—"
A few specks of powder in the air landed on the tip of Chaochao's nose, and her nose twitched immediately.
It's so itchy!
Achoo!
Chaochao couldn't help but sneeze loudly.
The flour in my palm was suddenly blown about by the gust of air.
The tablet directly in front of you is the first to be affected.
"..."
Grandpa Huo, whose vision was suddenly filled with white, once again felt the fear of being dominated by dandelions.
Fortunately, the camera lens on Chaochao's side was not covered in dust. After the white dust slowly settled, Chaochao's bewildered little face was revealed in front of the camera.
With patches of black and white on its cheeks, it looked just like a kitten that had just been brought back from collecting trash.
Before Chaochao's little brain could react, she only felt like someone was tickling her nose, so she couldn't help but sneeze, and then the world suddenly turned white!
"Chao Chao?" Old Master Huo called out cautiously.
Chaochao blinked, her gaze falling on her empty palm, then on the thin layer of white powder on the countertop.
I finally came to my senses.
This white and pink color looks so familiar...
Two seconds later, the little dumpling froze.
Isn't this the flour she poured out?!
Aunt Ning, who had just come out of the kitchen to get ingredients, returned and saw this scene. Her expression changed. "Oh dear, what happened? Chaochao, come and wipe it clean."
Aunt Ning picked up the dazed little dumpling and walked out. Three seconds later, her slow reflexes finally transmitted her emotions to the brain.
The little dumpling pouted, and the next second it burst out as a Type-C interface.
"Waaaaah!!! My pink one—"
A deafening sound came from the living room, and Old Master Huo tried his best to control his expression.
It's a bit tragic, but also a bit funny. What should I do?
After Aunt Ning repeatedly comforted Chaochao, saying that only a little flour had been sprinkled and not much had been wasted, Chaochao finally calmed down.
After a while, Chaochao came back online. This time she was wearing a mask, only revealing a pair of round, determined eyes.
This time, she definitely won't sneeze!
On the other end of the video, Grandpa Huo leisurely sipped his tea while watching Chaochao make cookies.
Even though most of the little girl's face was covered by a mask, her dark, grape-like eyes seemed to speak volumes. Sometimes they were as cautious as a small animal, and other times they were as bright as light bulbs. The old man was thoroughly enjoying watching them.
The little girl was too young, so Aunt Ning only had her weigh the flour at the beginning and sprinkle icing sugar at the end.
But these two tasks alone made Chaochao feel very involved, following the cookies from the moment they came out of the oven and then eagerly waiting for them to cool down.
Ta-da! Bear-shaped cookies!
Chaochao picked up a small plate and suddenly appeared in the center of the screen.
