In the past, no matter what happened, the boy was like a wooden doll without any feelings. But when she was with him, Shu Han rarely saw a dazed and confused look in Ah Shen.
Pei Yushen sat in his wheelchair by the window, the clear sunlight casting dark shadows on his pale eyes. His gaze was unfocused as he stared at the lush forest outside the window, lost and bewildered.
A light, unreal feeling enveloped his mind.
—Brother, you'll get better soon.
Is it really a coincidence?
Pei Yushen's eyelashes trembled slightly.
He thought of the pharmaceutical company that was developing the new drug.
Shu Han glanced one last time at the silent boy by the window, and let out a heartfelt sigh, as if releasing all the pent-up frustration of the past two days. Suppressing her inner joy, she quietly closed the door behind her as she left the room.
The sound of the door closing quietly echoed in the silent room, but Pei Yushen acted as if he hadn't heard it.
A thought grew stronger with the pounding of his heart in his chest.
He wanted to call and ask her.
Just as his outstretched finger was about to touch the phone, he suddenly stopped and slowly withdrew it.
Let's wait a little longer.
They might still be on the plane right now.
...
The morning after the bonfire party was the time for the production crew and guests to leave the grassland ranch.
Chaochao got up early and went to many places non-stop to say goodbye to her new friends, including both humans and animals.
"Ben Yangyang, I'll definitely miss you~"
The little dumpling, her feet glistening with morning dew, lingered and stroked the soft sheep's head, then hugged the heart pattern on its back tightly. In that moment, their hearts were intertwined. "Little sheep, you must be happy here, and don't miss me too much! I've already told Uncle Huru that he will take good care of you."
Uncle Huru is that shepherd from Inner Mongolia, but his real name is Huhelu. For the past two days, he has been bringing sheep to Chaochao's house to apologize. Before long, Chaochao, being a social butterfly, became familiar with him. Faced with Jiang Chi's questions, Chaochao repeatedly insisted that he was Uncle Huru.
The sheep that Chaochao is holding now is the one that Uncle Huru let out to reunite with her.
"I wish I had a grassland at home..."
Holding the lamb, Chaochao looked a little wistful.
“That way you can take the little lamb over to play,” Chaochao quickly added, “but you’ll have your friends here too, and you’ll definitely miss them if you leave…”
The sheep responded softly, "Baa~ Baa~"
With its round, black eyes full of innocence, who would have thought that this little lamb would often have such unrestrained and playful behavior?
For example, Uncle Huru said that the sheep pen, which was raised by half a meter, was upgraded and renovated for it.
Chaochao: "Baa~ Baa~"
The lamb responded with a bleating sound.
The person and the sheep went back and forth four or five times, while Changchang from next door was speechless.
As expected of Chaochao, even though he dared to touch the lambs, he still couldn't communicate as freely as his younger sister Chaochao.
Not far from the sheepfold was the ostrich farm. Chaochao shivered and quickly slipped away, clinging to the yurt next to it.
However, it was a little disappointing that Chaochao did not see the beautiful and elegant red horse in the stable's private room.
I heard they went for a drive on the vast grasslands this morning and haven't returned yet.
Chaochao grabbed a handful of hay from the herdsman uncle and put it into the stone trough in her room. The little dumpling thought that when Mama came back and ate this hay, she would surely understand her longing.
After going around in circles, Chaochao and Jiang Chi finally carried their luggage to the original meeting point, just like when they arrived.
But my feelings are completely different now.
When she first arrived, Chaochao was afraid of the tall and rugged local people around her and only dared to walk close to Jiang Chi's trouser seams.
Now, Jiang Chi has become the one who has been squeezed to the periphery. Along the way, there are always children or older brothers and sisters, as well as their parents, stuffing all sorts of small gifts into Chaochao's little backpack. They treat the little dumpling not like a tourist from out of town who has only been here for two days, but more like a college student who has been supported by the whole village and is about to go to school.
"Chaochao, come play again next time! They've been throwing a tantrum without your singing," the uncle who manages the cattle said with a smile.
“Oh, Mini Hu is really going to miss you. He wants you to teach him how to play with that stone,” said an aunt whose child was close to Chaochao.
“Take this fried rice with you. You can make your own milk tea when you get home…” the uncle who was cooking said.
Others said things like, "The domestic hen started laying eggs after she went back," and "The bird that held a grudge against humans because of a misunderstanding finally stopped pooping on the roof to vent its anger," and so on.
Listening to the noisy and enthusiastic voices, Jiang Chi silently pondered what good things his little dumpling had done behind his back these past two days, including but not limited to playing with him, getting free meals and drinks, and acting as a go-between...
The small gifts sent were so numerous that Jiang Chi had to prepare a separate small bundle for her.
As the number of people on the road gradually decreased, the little girl, holding her brother's hand, would sometimes sigh shyly, and sometimes smile with squinted eyes in embarrassment and joy, displaying a range of emotions that Jiang Chi frequently glanced at.
Before parting, Chaochao gave all the snacks that the program crew had confiscated to the local children she had played with over the past few days. These were all her favorite snacks, and she didn't seem to feel any reluctance when giving them away.
Jiang Chi glanced at the cheerful little dumpling.
Bye-bye~~~
"Brothers and sisters, my dad's here! Goodbye—"
As soon as the recording ended, Chaochao was taken into a black extended Bentley parked by the roadside. She was saying goodbye to her companions the last second before closing the car door.
