The system read aloud the prize description beneath the floating green cloud: "Chao Chao, this needs to be used within three days at the latest... Have you... thought it through?"
Are you sure you want to use the prize you redeemed by consuming all your energy on someone else?
The system asked cautiously. Although Chaochao was only three and a half years old and did not have legal capacity, the system respected her choice.
"Why do we have to wait three days? Can't I use it now?"
Chaochao didn't understand. It was like a delicious candy falling from the sky when you were hungry. Of course, you would eat it immediately.
System: "You can use it at any time during the validity period."
"Can I give it to someone else?"
Chaochao blinked upon hearing this.
"Sure, the prizes are for the host to distribute, but once the recipient is confirmed, there's no going back."
The little dumpling waved her hand boldly and said in a clear voice, "Then I'm going to give it to Brother Yu Shen, right now."
The system asked hesitantly, "Is it really confirmed for Chaochao?"
"Yes, yes! No regrets!" Chaochao replied without hesitation.
One second passed.
"Alright, the transfer is complete."
After the system finished speaking, it felt very empty inside.
The clouds that emitted a faint green light in front of me dissipated like smoke in the wind.
Chaochao opened her eyes wide with curiosity: "Will Brother Yushen be able to receive it this way?"
The system proudly puffed out its chest: "That's right, produced by the Time and Space Bureau, instant payment!"
We won't even take a cut from the middleman's price!
"Then Brother Yu Shen can stand up right away?"
The system hesitated, "Well... not necessarily."
If they could stand up immediately, wouldn't that be a medical miracle that would make the world's headlines?
"However, he's bound to have some good news coming his way soon."
The system explained it to Chaochao, and the little dumpling immediately smiled and her worried mind relaxed as she heard that there would be good news anyway. She slowly let out a sigh of relief.
"Brother, I'm here! Where's my milk curd? I really want to eat one!"
Jiang Chi, who was making his bed in the yurt, suddenly heard Xiao Tuanzi's calls coming from afar. He looked up and saw Chaochao, who had returned from performing a ritual, skipping and jumping into the room with a bright smile on her face. The first thing she did upon entering was to rummage through her little backpack.
"My little milk curd~ Where are you~"
Unaware of the silent gaze of the young man beside the bed.
"…………"
Looking at Chaochao, who had undergone a complete transformation and whose spirit was practically renewed, Jiang Chi had a fleeting, unrealistic thought—
Does this method actually work?
Did I gain points through some kind of mystical method?
Concentrating on rummaging through her backpack, Chaochao was completely unaware of her brother's suspicious and inquisitive expression. As soon as she found the milk curd, she quickly tore off the packaging, squinted her eyes, and put it in her mouth.
When the rich, sweet milky aroma exploded in her mouth like a cannonball, the little dumpling let out a sigh of pleasure.
She finally got to eat it; she really racked her brains just now.
At Songhe Hospital, the moonlight flowed like water across the high-rise windowsills, blending into the cool-toned lights of the room.
The handsome young man leaned against the hospital bed, his expression serene as he intently watched the grand bonfire party on TV. The boy's fair face reflected the leaping flames, and when he laughed joyfully, he looked like a living, breathing New Year's picture doll. The comments on the screen were all clamoring for kisses, hugs, and to be lifted up high.
Pei Yushen watched quietly, his slightly clenched fingertips curling up almost imperceptibly.
When he heard the little dumpling mention his name on the phone, a glimmer of light appeared in Pei Yushen's dark and indifferent eyes.
His expression remained normal, but his thoughts couldn't help but wander.
As usual, Shu Han placed a plate of cut fruit on the bedside table. Her face, which could not hide her fatigue, showed a gentle smile, but the corners of her mouth that were forced up were tinged with bitterness.
Before leaving the ward, she turned around one last time and saw the boy in his hospital gown looking calmly ahead.
Shu Han recalled that when she heard Dr. Tomas's diagnosis today, A Shen had also responded with a faint "I understand," without any emotional fluctuation.
Shu Han couldn't help but wonder if she had really made a mistake.
Her and Lu Ying's persistent pursuit of any possibility of recovery only caused Ashen to suffer repeated disappointments and despair, until he eventually became numb, like a puppet without joy or sorrow.
Shu Han choked back tears and quietly closed the door.
Pei Yushen's wandering thoughts were all brought back when his phone suddenly vibrated. His slightly bewildered gaze fell on the video call invitation, and his dark eyes swept over the little dumpling holding a watch in the live broadcast.
He paused, then reached out and picked up his phone.
"Brother Yu Shen, I thought you weren't going to answer."
The little dumpling's round, delicate face suddenly appeared on the screen, and perhaps because she had been waiting for a long time, her sweet little voice carried a hint of sadness.
Pei Yushen: "I just didn't hear it at first."
Chaochao suddenly leaned closer to the watch, blinking her big eyes intently as if she were examining something.
The boy in the video still had handsome features, a calm and composed expression, and showed no signs of sadness.
The little dumpling breathed a sigh of relief.
She thought that Yu Shen was crying sadly under the covers because he hadn't answered the phone earlier.
But for some reason, even though Pei Yushen's expression remained the same, Chaochao always felt that something was pressing down on her deep sadness beneath his sullen eyes.
After observing, Chaochao moved a little further away from the watch. Pei Yushen quietly loosened his grip on the watch, but froze the moment the little dumpling's voice rang out.
"Brother Yu Shen, are you unhappy?"
Chaochao sat in the swaying grass, her soft almond-shaped eyes looking down at the person on the screen, her gentle tone full of worry.
