Chapter 8 There's no need to fulfill your dying wish.
Lu Yanzhi also got involved.
"Do they know it's me?" Shi Nian asked another question.
Shi Nian didn't say it explicitly; she was asking if Han Wei knew that "Yan" was her, Shi Nian. But she knew that Fu Jinyan understood what she meant.
"I don't know," Fu Jinyan replied immediately. "I'm very sure about this."
Shi Nian fell silent.
Cars came and went around her, and she watched the clouds slowly moving across the sky. Then, she made a decision.
Shi Nian first called the doctor to confirm that the time could be postponed to the afternoon.
Then she told Fu Jinyan that she would come over now.
"Okay, come over as soon as possible."
After hanging up the phone, Shi Nian turned the car around, bought some things first, and then drove quickly to Fu's Entertainment.
After parking the car and putting on a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, Shi Nian walked into Fu's Entertainment.
With a "ding", the elevator doors opened.
Shi Nian walked into the office, wearing those Dior high heels.
"Yan, you're here." Fu Jinyan saw Shi Nian first.
Upon noticing her new outfit, Fu Jinyan raised an eyebrow slightly, but remained expressionless. He simply helped her in and seated her on the other side of the long table.
Sitting across the long table were Lu Yanzhi and Han Wei.
Upon seeing her walk in, Han Wei immediately stood up.
"Hello Yan, I'm Han Wei. I don't know if you've heard of me before." Han Wei smiled weakly, looking pitiful.
She said, "I really want to buy your song, and I hope you can sell it to me."
Shi Nian did not answer immediately, but glanced at Lu Yanzhi.
Lu Yanzhi didn't even glance at her; all his attention was on Han Wei.
Fu Jinyan sat next to Shi Nian and spoke first when he heard Han Wei say that.
“Miss Han, Yan doesn’t intend to sell this song. I’ve already told you that before,” Fu Jinyan said.
However, Han Wei ignored Fu Jinyan and looked at Shi Nian with red eyes.
“But Miss Yan, I really like this song of yours.” She said, then suddenly frowned, as if she were enduring some kind of pain.
Lu Yanzhi, standing beside him, frowned, his eyes filled with worry.
But Han Wei simply shook her head "strongly" and continued to look at Shi Nian.
"Miss Yan, I only have six months left to live, so I hope you can part with this as a way to fulfill my dying wish."
Shi Nian chuckled softly upon hearing this.
Another "wishes before death".
When Lu Yanzhi proposed divorce, he said that Han Wei's dying wish was to get a marriage certificate with Lu Yanzhi.
Now, I have one more wish before I die.
She believes in respecting others' pain and valuing life and death above all else, but it is she, Shi Nian, who has to pay the price for it.
She also didn't want to respect the third party who had interfered in her marriage.
Are you taking advantage of her because she doesn't have a disease that will kill her in six months?
"What if I say I don't want to?" Shi Nian thought to herself, then lowered her voice and said hoarsely.
Han Wei choked up.
“Ms. Han, I’ve heard about your situation.” Shi Nian continued in a low voice, “The countdown to the death of the well-known IP florist Han Wei has been a hot topic online these days, but whether the song sells or not is my business. I have no obligation to fulfill your ‘last wish’, and I don’t understand what you want to do with this song.”
Shi Nian paused slightly, then continued after three seconds, "Should we put it on your live streaming account across the entire internet, or... as your funeral march?"
"You!" Han Wei was furious and started coughing violently.
While patting Han Wei's back to help her catch her breath, Lu Yanzhi looked at Shi Nian with displeasure.
This was the first time Lu Yanzhi had seen Shi Nian since he entered the house.
"Miss Yan, don't you think what you said went too far?" Lu Yanzhi frowned and said coldly.
His brows were furrowed, and his dark eyes held a sharp edge.
His lips were pressed into a straight line, and his familiar face showed his dissatisfaction with her.
Shi Nian looked at Lu Yanzhi.
He had changed into a different set of clothes; it wasn't the same one he wore yesterday.
It looked like one of the outfits she had put together for him in the wardrobe in the villa.
It seems he has already returned to the villa where they got married.
They probably already know she's moved away.
They simply didn't care about it at all.
That's fine.
Shi Nian composed herself, her gaze slightly lowered behind her sunglasses, avoiding direct eye contact with Lu Yanzhi.
“I think forced buying and selling is even worse,” she said. “Since you’ve already done it, you should be prepared to endure unreasonable comments from others.”
Lu Yanzhi frowned even more, his expression growing more displeased as he looked at her.
"Brother Yanzhi, let me speak." Before Lu Yanzhi could say anything more, Han Wei kindly spoke up first.
The office lights were warm, but Han Wei's white Celine suit still made her look pale.
"Miss Yan, I really like this song."
As Han Wei spoke, she looked at Lu Yanzhi to the side.
"This song really touched me."
"I wrote a lot about my feelings for the person I fell in love with, passionate, secretive, and tinged with a bit of inferiority."
"The effort invested in a relationship, the joy received, and..."
Han Wei's eyes dimmed slightly as she said, "The deep despair of knowing that my days are numbered."
"A sense of despair that penetrates to the bone."
“Miss Yan, this feeling of despair has tormented me deeply, causing me unbearable pain.”
"But what moves me most about this song is the ending where the character lets go."
"Just like I am now, I accept everything, let go of everything, and live my last days in peace."
Han Wei spoke softly, her voice sometimes trembling, sometimes open-minded, as if she had experienced many changes in life, which made people feel sorry for her.
Lu Yanzhi, sitting next to her, confirmed this.
Shi Nian saw that when Han Wei talked about that desperate period of her life, Lu Yanzhi's eyes clearly showed heartache.
This was something she had never seen in his eyes before.
The seven years she spent with him couldn't compare to the less than a year Han Wei spent by his side.
Shi Nian looked at them as if she were looking at a loving couple who had gone through a lot of pain.
It's just a pity that she was the first wife.
I cannot be moved.
That's really out of place.
“Ms. Yan, this song perfectly expresses all my recent experiences. I understand the feelings you had when you wrote this song. I think you also hope that someone who understands you will buy this song.”
Han Wei continued speaking.
It seemed that since she had said that, Shi Nian would agree to sell the song to her.
After all, if songs are going to be sold anyway, selling them to someone who understands them is definitely the best option.
It's just a pity...
Shi Nian suddenly felt like laughing.
Because this song is about the wrong person she loved, and the betrayal she experienced in love.
It describes her falling in love with Lu Yanzhi and the joy she felt after marrying him.
The despair of discovering his infidelity, followed by the pain of letting go.
The touching love story that Han Wei tried to use to convince her was built on the pain of this song.
How ironic.
Thinking about it, Shi Nian couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Lu Yanzhi narrowed his eyes slightly.
“Miss Yan, the fact that Weiwei saw this song means that you originally intended to sell it.”
His voice was cold and calm, just like the countless proposals he had handled, hitting the nail on the head.
"If you're unwilling to sell now, it means either you're not satisfied with the buyer or you're not satisfied with the price."
Lu Yanzhi looked directly into Shi Nian's eyes, but all he saw were dark sunglasses.
"Famous songwriters charge millions, while celebrities can earn tens of millions in copyright revenue annually."
"Ten million," Lu Yanzhi said. "I think you should be satisfied with this number."
But Shi Nian just smiled.
Ten million is really too much for her.
Given "Yan's" current almost unknown reputation, several hundred thousand is already a very high price.
Lu Yanzhi gave ten million for Han Wei.
Shi Nian was laughing so hard that tears were almost streaming down her face.
Han Wei felt confused and became a little angry.
“Ms. Yan, this is already a very high price,” she said. “There’s a music variety show called ‘The Voice of Heaven’ that I think you’re familiar with. I plan to use it on that show as my main product, and I think…”
Han Wei was still talking when Fu Jinyan, who was standing to the side, could no longer stand it.
He slammed his hand on the table and stood up: "I said I didn't want to sell, Lu Yanzhi, don't push your luck!"
Lu Yanzhi remained seated, coldly glancing at Fu Jinyan. Though seated, his aura still overwhelmed Fu Jinyan.
Shi Nian wiped away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes and tugged at Fu Jinyan's sleeve.
“I’ll sell,” Shi Nian said.
"The Voice of Heaven" is the music variety show that Shi Nian will be participating in.
