Chapter 299 Already Sharing a Bed with Him
The tea room was dimly lit, and the aroma of tea wafted from the tea on the table beside it.
Shi Nian lowered her eyes and looked at Lu Yanzhi in front of her.
He knelt here, his head once bowed proudly.
He kept his head down and didn't say a word.
Huo Yanmo, who was standing to the side, frowned as he witnessed this scene.
Huo Yanmo pursed his lips, glanced at Shi Nian beside him, then turned and walked to a corner. From there, he could keep an eye on the other side to prevent any accidents from happening, while also giving the two of them space to talk.
He sat here examining the numerous tea leaves displayed in the tea room, pretending he hadn't seen anything.
On the other side, Lu Yanzhi clenched his hands as he listened to Huo Yanmo's footsteps fade into the distance.
"Please," he said.
"Please forgive me, okay?" His voice was choked with sobs.
He raised his head and looked at Shi Nian in front of him, feeling humble and vulnerable.
His eyes held a sadness she had never seen before, and his voice was full of pleading.
The trees in the courtyard swayed gently in the wind, and the sunlight cast their shadows on the two of them, flickering in and out.
"A-Nian..." he called her name, his eyes reddening.
"What I did in the past was wrong."
He said sadly, "That day... I didn't know I had given birth to our child..."
He couldn't continue after that.
His eyes were even redder, and Lu Yanzhi closed them in pain.
“It was my fault. I didn’t visit you again after that.” He reached out and grasped Shi Nian’s hand.
Lu Yanzhi opened his eyes again and said softly, "Give me another chance to make up for all of this, okay?"
Shi Nian shifted her gaze from Lu Yanzhi and looked at the tea on the table.
"It's too late," Shi Nian said softly.
She couldn't pretend that nothing had happened.
What's lost can never be regained.
There are too many things separating them; they can never go back to the way things were.
My hand tightened.
Shi Nian lowered her eyes slightly and looked at Lu Yanzhi again.
This was the first time she had seen him so humble.
It looks like a little dog begging for mercy.
Completely different from the arrogant Lu Yanzhi of the past.
She said, "Lu Yanzhi, there's a life between us."
Her gaze shifted to his hand holding hers, and she whispered, "Let go."
"It ended a long time ago."
But Lu Yanzhi shook his head.
He racked his brains trying to come up with something, but having never bowed his head before, how could he find the right words?
Even though he was absolutely sincere at that moment and wanted to do everything he could to win her back.
She was covered in blood, and there was her lost child...
She was right; between the two of them was their child's life.
"We..." After a long while, Lu Yanzhi finally spoke again. His voice was terribly hoarse as he whispered, "A-Nian, we... can make up for the past. Let's have a third child, okay?"
Shi Nian's nose tingled slightly, and her eyes reddened.
Lu Yanzhi said, "Let's start over. This time, let me love you properly. I will be good to you and to our child. I swear on everything I have."
A breeze blew in through the window, gently caressing the two of them.
The wind blew Shi Nian's hair, causing it to fall slightly, and the white hairs that Huo Yanmo had hidden inside also fell down with it.
A few strands of white hair amidst the black hair swayed gently in the breeze.
“You…” Lu Yanzhi looked at her white hair in surprise, and felt a pang of pain in his heart.
He reached out his other hand and tried to touch her white hair.
"Lu Yanzhi, I don't want to have children with you anymore." She stopped his hand.
“A-Nian…” His voice trembled.
"Don't think about these things anymore," Shi Nian said compassionately. "Wish me and him well, okay?"
"Just like when I let go and wished you and Han Wei well."
"Lu Yanzhi, what I can do, you can do too."
"I can't!" Lu Yanzhi said, tears streaming down his face. "A-Nian, I can't do it."
As if remembering something, he said, "A-Nian, do you still remember what we were like back then?"
"Our Seven Years".
“We used to be very close. You once said, ‘A-Zhi, I will stay with you’…”
"But you haven't called me that in a long time."
"Could you call me one more time?"
Shi Nian looked at Lu Yanzhi.
Seven years.
How many seven-year periods does one have in a lifetime?
But she had already made her decision.
She didn't want to go back to the same old path.
"No," Shi Nian said softly. "Lu Yanzhi, I once loved you and once wanted to spend my whole life with you."
"But that was then."
Lu Yanzhi moved forward: "It can be the past or the future, as long as we start over, love can come back, we can still have children, we..."
"No." Shi Nian interrupted Lu Yanzhi.
She took a deep breath.
“Even if there are children, they won’t be with you,” Shi Nian said.
Lu Yanzhi was at a loss for words for a moment.
The next moment, Shi Nian said, "I did it with him."
"What?" Lu Yanzhi couldn't understand the meaning of her words.
Don't believe me?
Shi Nian lowered her eyes slightly and tugged at her collar with her other hand.
She saw the kiss marks Huo Yanmo had left on her body during their passionate night together.
Lu Yanzhi stared at the marks, his eyes bloodshot.
Shi Nian loosened her collar and lifted her hem to show him the marks on her waist.
“Do you see that?” she said.
Lu Yanzhi gritted his teeth, unable to speak.
He could only watch her, his emotions collapsing.
He wanted to tell her that she was lying to him.
But he knew in his heart that what she said was true.
In fact, he had known all along that this day would come sooner or later.
He couldn't let go.
It's something he doesn't want to think about.
Lu Yanzhi's eyes were horribly red, and Shi Nian looked on with pity.
"Lu Yanzhi, you can find someone better later. Move on."
She said, "I will move forward with him, and you... should also look forward."
"I'm already tired, and I don't want to think about the past anymore."
Shi Nian pulled her hand away from his.
Looking at his pitiful appearance.
She said, "Yanzhi, he is very good to me."
"It's really good."
After saying that, Shi Nian turned her back and walked towards Huo Yanmo.
Huo Yanmo watched Shi Nian walk over, then he carefully put the tea leaves back on the shelf.
Recite this as you stand up to greet them.
"Are you done talking?" Huo Yanmo asked gently.
He actually heard everything, even though they were a little distance apart, they were still in the same space.
But he planned to pretend he didn't hear it.
If we can treat everything as a thing of the past, then what's wrong with pretending to be deaf for a while?
"Mm." Shi Nian nodded.
Looking at his gentle demeanor, she reached out and took his hand.
“Let’s go back,” she said.
"Okay," Huo Yanmo said, reaching out his other hand to tidy her hair.
He smiled at her.
