Chapter 9 The fragrance is intoxicating

"..." Grandma Liu rolled her eyes, but a smile involuntarily crept onto her face.

"Come on, drink up!"

Grandpa Liu quickly used his key to cut open the plastic packaging of Wahaha, inserted a straw, and handed it to Grandma Liu.

"Hmph, you're smart to know what's good for you." Grandma Liu took it and started gulping it down.

"Drink slowly, I'll buy you more tomorrow when you finish it." Grandpa Liu looked at her happily.

Speaking of Grandpa Liu and Grandma Liu, they had just had a fight not long ago.

It all started one day when Grandma Liu suddenly had a whimsical idea: she wanted to eat jelly and asked Grandpa Liu, who was out for a walk, to buy it for her.

Grandpa Liu agreed.

As a result, I forgot about it after I came back from the walk.

When Grandma Liu asked, he said, "How old are you? Still eating jelly? How childish!"

Because of this, Grandma Liu was extremely angry.

She first argued with Grandpa Liu, and the argument lasted for a full half hour.

Immediately afterwards, they stopped even cooking for Grandpa Liu.

She ignored Grandpa Liu when he spoke.

In a fit of anger, Grandpa Liu left home.

"Fine, I'll leave then," he said, angrily calling his daughter to complain.

They say that as the old woman gets older, her temper gets worse.

"I'm practically half-buried in the ground, why am I acting like a young girl, eating jelly?"

Things like "the older they get, the more dramatic they become."

He thought his daughter would stand by him and join him in condemning the old woman.

As a result, his daughter's set of questions stumped him.

"Dad, do you think Mom can't afford a bag of jelly with her retirement pension?"

"She's angry not because she didn't get to eat the jelly, but because you promised her something and didn't keep your promise."

"She wanted to eat jelly and asked you for it. You agreed, and at that moment she was full of anticipation for you."

"And what happened? You let people down and then accused them of being naive."

"How could my mom not be angry?"

"She doesn't even think you're childish yet."

“Take our Guoguo for example. If you promise her something one day and don’t do it the next day, she can cry for a whole day.”

"Don't think that just because my mom is old she has to tone down her temper and tolerate your mistakes. Why should she?"

"My mom is a person with emotions and desires too."

"If you don't agree to this, she won't even bother to be angry with you."

To put it bluntly, she's just more concerned about how much you care about her.

"Besides, Dad, I remember you taught us when we were little that we should keep our word, right? What are you now?"

“My mom is old and has high blood pressure, but even so… she still makes you your favorite foods every day.”

"You're still not satisfied with this?"

"If you go along with my mom, can you smash it? It won't hurt you."

"At most, I just make sure I keep my promises to her, and when I go out and come home, I buy her little things from time to time."

"Anything will do, like jelly, mung bean cake, oranges, or even a lollipop that costs 50 cents."

"It's not expensive, but it'll make my mom happy."

"If my mom is happy, you can eat whatever you want, right?"

"It's so nice that I don't have to sulk with my mom."

"Besides, you're a grown man, are you going to keep arguing with my mom forever?"

Those words, delivered one after another, left Grandpa Liu completely bewildered.

Could it be that he was really wrong?

Upon closer reflection, it seems that the daughter had clearly promised them the day before that she would bring her granddaughter back to visit.

They happily prepared for most of the day.

The next day, her daughter didn't come.

When they called to ask, their daughter was very unhappy and said that they were making trouble for no reason and that it was affecting her taking care of the child.

How disappointed they must be when they hear that!

Oh, thinking about it that way, it seems he was indeed in the wrong.

It's because they are people I care about that I get angry when something like this happens.

In other words, the old woman loved him her whole life, and she still loves him now.

With that thought in mind, Grandpa Liu immediately felt refreshed and went home.

Before leaving, I didn't forget to buy two big bags of jelly to take back with me.

Sure enough, after he returned and apologized, the old woman immediately stopped being angry.

I also made his favorite vegetable-filled pancakes.

After that, Grandpa Liu understood.

For example, right now, the old woman is clearly angry.

But when he pulled out the unexpected Wahaha drink, the old woman suddenly stopped being angry.

Hehe, doesn't that mean his wild garlic pancakes have a chance?

As Grandpa Liu was pondering this, he heard Grandma Liu speak.

"Forget it, I can't be bothered to argue with you."

"Since we've already bought it, we can't let it go to waste."

"Go watch TV for a while, I'll make you some pancakes."

After saying that, Grandma Liu took out a quarter of Wahaha and handed it to Grandpa Liu.

"Alright, all set!"

"Just call me if you need any help later!" Grandpa Liu was also very happy.

Hey, I never expected that he would have a stake in Wahaha.

Hehehe.

Grandma Liu cooks very well and very quickly.

Grandpa Liu was engrossed in watching CCTV-13 when he suddenly felt an extremely strong fragrance wafting into his nose.

The fragrance was so enticing that it made him dizzy with its sweetness.

"Old woman, what are you making? It smells so good!"

Grandpa Liu stopped watching TV and went straight to the kitchen.

"I must say, old man, the wild garlic you bought is really good." Grandma Liu clicked her tongue as she flipped the pancakes in the electric griddle.

It wasn't the first time she'd made wild garlic pancakes, but had they ever smelled this good?
