Chapter 232 Becoming the Eighth Princess

After accepting her current body, Molan thought about the Sheng family again. After she became a princess, she would one day be able to take revenge on the entire Sheng family.

However, this Eighth Princess must have made some mistake. It's well known that the people of Sichuan and Yunnan are tough and host to many foreigners. To marry a princess to such a place means she's either completely underdog or has made a grave mistake. If she wants revenge on the Sheng family, she'll need to think long and hard.

Also, she must have been killed in the Marquis of Xiangyang's mansion. Who killed her?

After finishing her sweet soup, Molan gestured for the palace servants to bring her a brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. Afraid that the palace servants would notice the difference in their handwriting, Molan wrote a line of crooked characters with shaking arms.

She had always heard that Empress Jing'an was kind-hearted and soft-hearted, so she didn't believe that Empress Jing'an wouldn't show any mercy to her given her condition.

The older maid, who could recognize some words, didn't say much when she saw the words on it. She nodded and said, "Princess, please rest assured. I will definitely give this note to the Empress for her review."

Molan nodded with joy, eagerly anticipating Empress Jing'an's arrival. Unbeknownst to her, the Emperor had already ordered, even during her confinement, that no news of her should be leaked, even if she died in the palace. Thus, the written note was tossed by the older maid under the medicine stove, where it instantly burned to ash.

After waiting for nearly an hour, the older maid put down her teacup and slowly walked towards Molan's room. Once inside, she hobbled and bowed, saying, "Princess, I knelt for a long time in Fengyang Palace before being driven out. The Empress was busy, so the maid only accepted the note from me and didn't pass it on."

Hearing this, Molan suddenly sat up from the bed. She was so shocked that her vision was full of stars. She leaned over the bed, holding her head, and tried to say something, but her throat was aching. After a while, she took the paper and wrote with a smile: "Get up."

The older maid stood up and thanked him, "Thank you, Princess, for not blaming me."

Then he walked over to Molan and put a cloak on her. He asked her, "Princess, would you like to have something easily digestible tonight?"

Molan nodded and motioned for the older maid to sit on the embroidery stool. Then she took a piece of paper and wrote: "Let them go. I have something to ask you."

After the older maid read the paper, she said to the two younger maids, "You two go down and wait. I'll call you if anything happens."

After the two bowed and withdrew, the older maid respectfully said to Molan, "Princess, please feel free to ask anything you want to know. I will tell you everything I know."

Molan thought for a while and wrote on the paper: Let me tell you about what happened recently in the palace.

The Eighth Princess had never cared about palace affairs before, but now that she'd died, she'd finally remembered to care about them. The older maid lowered her head and replied, "Princess, the palace held a plum blossom viewing banquet a few days ago. All the daughters of officials of the third rank and above in the capital were invited to attend. I heard they were selecting the Crown Princess."

Seeing Molan's interest, the older maid continued, "Today, the Empress summoned Madam Bo to the palace. Everyone speculates that the Bo family will produce a Crown Princess."

Molan nodded, motioning for the older maid to continue. The older maid thought for a moment, and since there was nothing important to say, she continued, "I heard that Princess Jinyi will be back in the capital in the next two days."

Princess Jinyi returned to the palace? Even if the Crown Princess was chosen, the marriage wouldn't take at least a year. Was she returning to the capital now because she missed Empress Jing'an, or was there something else going on? Unable to figure it out, Molan let the matter go.

She had wanted to ask something else, but thinking of her past lives, she silently put the idea aside. When she could speak again, she would have the opportunity to find out everything about her.
