Lin Qinshuang, the young lady Molan mentioned, was still just a little kid. Lin's mother had been friends with Xu Wen, the eldest lady of the Sheng family's second branch, but they lost contact after Xu Wen married into the capital.
Lin Qinshuang is no longer as competitive as she was later. Although Lin's father and mother only have her as their daughter, they have a very harmonious relationship.
Taking advantage of her drunkenness, Molan left the banquet early. After returning to her inner room, she left behind a personal maid and sent everyone else away.
Molan, leaning on the soft couch, took the honey water brought by the maid, squinted her eyes and said, "I am not thirsty, I will give it to you as a reward."
The maid bowed to thank him, then turned sideways and drank the honey water in one gulp.
After watching the maid finish drinking, Molan stood up and sat in front of the dressing table, instructing the maid to take off her headdress.
The maid fell to the ground with a thud as she was halfway through taking off her headdress. Molan glanced at the person on the ground, took off her headdress herself, and quickly tied up the double bun that the maid had done.
He took out a roll of banknotes from the small box and hid it in his underwear.
Then, Molan squatted down and stripped the maid's clothes off, and put them on herself. After Molan put on her clothes, she changed her clothes on the maid. Finally, she helped the maid to the bed, covered her with a quilt, and loosened her hair.
After mustering up her courage, she heard the clanging sound of cups being smashed from the inner room. A quarter of an hour later, Molan rushed out of the inner room, covering her face with a handkerchief, crying as she ran, and trotted all the way to the lower room where the maids lived.
During this period, Molan broke many cups, all for today. No matter what happened in her room, no one was allowed to enter the room without her order.
It was the time when the other maids were on duty, so even if they saw the maid running out, they would not ask too many questions, which also made it convenient for Molan.
She stayed in the servants' room until dusk, then took advantage of the darkness to move to another room. As soon as she crouched under the bed, she heard a commotion outside, the sounds of people running and screaming.
Not long after, there was a loud kick at the door of the maid's quarters. Molan covered her mouth and held her breath, nervously looking out the door from under the bed.
I could vaguely hear someone rummaging through the beds and cabinets next door, and then I heard someone shouting, "Search all the rooms!"
After hearing this, Molan felt a chill all over her body and her heart was pounding.
Seeing the torch coming through the crack in the door and reaching the door, Molan thought for a moment and prepared to crawl out from under the bed. It's not like she hasn't died before, so what's there to be afraid of?
Just as he crawled out from under the bed, he heard the voice shouting, "Who is that? Stop!" After a pause, he shouted, "Chase him!"
Suddenly, footsteps sounded everywhere, and soon the torches in front of the door disappeared. Mo Lan stood up and posed. If she were born in modern times, three black lines would surely hang down her forehead.
A moment later, Molan slowly walked to the door, leaning against it to listen for any noises. After a while, with a creak, Molan pushed the door open and walked out of the servants' quarters. She looked around but didn't see a single person.
After standing there for a while, Molan returned to the servants' room. After returning to her room, Molan poured a glass of cold water and drank it slowly.
Thinking of the time when she and her sisters competed for tea leaves, Molan smiled and said to herself, "I always thought that life was hard, and I always wanted to stand out, but now I understand that life is never easy for people like that."
After a long sigh, Molan drank the last sip of cold water.
