Chapter 326: Posthumous Affairs

Guo'er walked back and forth outside the house, worried that something might happen to Molan in the house.

Li'er stuck to the door, listening to the noises in the house.

More than half an hour later, the second-class maid came over and whispered, "The second young master of the Marquis of Xinyang is here."

Guo'er narrowed her eyes and said, "Let him wait outside the house and don't let him in."

The second-class maid bowed, accepted the gesture, and stepped back.

Li'er was clinging to the door when she heard Molan's voice from inside the room: "Someone come."

Li'er breathed a sigh of relief, then quickly opened the door and went into the house, followed closely by Guo'er.

After entering the room, she saw Molan sitting in front of the dressing table. Li'er walked over cautiously, while Guo'er went to fetch some hot water as usual.

Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Molan ordered with a slightly hoarse voice, "Send the person in after an hour."

Li'er glanced at Guo'er, who nodded slightly and leaned forward to respond, "Yes."

After washing up, Molan changed into pure white mourning clothes, with her hair tied up with a wooden hairpin. She wore no makeup at all, looking so plain that she hardly looked like herself.

When she saw Lin Qinshuang's husband, Molan looked at the man kneeling on the ground and there was actually a hint of smile in her eyes.

A quarter of an hour later, Molan raised her hand and said, "Get up."

Lin Qinshuang's husband, who had been kneeling to pay his respects, finally stood up. However, after standing up, he didn't dare to take a seat. He bowed and explained his purpose: "Princess, it would be better for my eldest lady's funeral to be handled at the Xinyang Marquis' Mansion."

Molan waved to Guoer, and Guoer came over with a cup of tea.

After watching Lin Qinshuang's husband drink the tea in his cup, Molan finally spoke: "When you proposed to me, you said we were inseparable. Now don't worry about those empty formalities. Let's do what needs to be done at the Xinyang Marquis' Mansion. As for her, let her stay at the Prince Wen's Mansion. I will send her there on the day of the funeral."

Lin Qinshuang's funeral took place seven days after her death. The weather was extremely cold that day. Molan, draped in a snow-white fur coat, arrived at the Xinyang Marquis's residence, covered in snow.

Lin Qinshuang's husband came out to greet her. After paying his respects, he looked behind Molan. Not seeing any coffin or other objects holding people behind her, he asked, "Princess, where is my eldest wife?"

Guo'er, who was standing to Molan's right, scolded loudly, "Why don't you take the princess to the warm room quickly? How dare you question the princess here in such a cold weather?"

Lin Qinshuang's husband was scolded by a maid. He glared at Guo'er in dissatisfaction, bowed his head and apologized quickly: "Princess, please forgive me for my hasty words. Please come in."

Soon they entered a warm room where the wife of the Marquis of Xinyang, the eldest son of the Marquis of Xinyang, and his wife were all present. There was also a woman, Ruofeng Fuliu, sitting limply on a chair.

After entering the room, looking at the people bowing and greeting, Molan nodded with satisfaction, thinking to herself: Everyone is here.

After being helped by Guo'er to sit in the right seat, Molan glanced at Li'er, then raised her hand and said, "Everyone, stand up and take a seat."

After everyone stood up, Molan continued, "Today's funeral reminds me of when I first brought my adopted sister to the capital. She was very afraid of the cold when she first arrived, so I specially found some Hu tea. Now that she is leaving, why don't you all join me in drinking some Hu tea to see her off."

Lin Qinshuang's husband tilted his head awkwardly. The woman who was holding Ruofeng Fuliu snorted softly, and lowered her head after being glared at by the man.
