Chapter 69 Back to the Modern Times

"Zhou Shuyan?" a gentle male voice called out. Queen Jing'an touched her slightly cold arm and opened her eyes to look towards the source of the voice. "Have you arranged your business trip plans for the morning after tomorrow?" the man asked.

Queen Jing'an looked at the man in front of her, wearing glasses and obviously dressed like a modern person, and her eyes began to look around involuntarily. Then she looked at the man in front of her who looked familiar, frowned and thought for a while, but still couldn't remember him.

Seeing that she didn't answer, the man asked again, "Aren't you ready? This project is a collaboration with the Song Group, so we can't be careless. Xiao Jiang, come here."

Then a woman in her thirties walked over. Queen Jing'an looked at her and suddenly remembered Sister Jiang, the one with the bob haircut and a penchant for wearing Barbie-pink lipstick. The man who spoke was none other than Manager Wang from their project department.

Is she back? After living in ancient times for thirty-seven years, she once again returned to the modern era. She is no longer Fang Ting, the legitimate daughter of the Rongyang Wang family, nor is she Queen Jing'an in the palace, but Zhou Shuyan in the modern era.

Zhou Shuyan's heart was pounding with excitement, and she didn't hear the other two people's whispers at all. It wasn't until Manager Wang asked them to return to their workstations that Zhou Shuyan was pulled out by Sister Jiang and came to her senses.

Sister Jiang gently said to Zhou Shuyan, "Xiaoyan, don't be afraid. City S, where the Song Group is located, is only a hundred kilometers away from us. We can go back and forth on the same day. You don't need to pack your luggage specially. Just take your notebook and documents with you."

Zhou Shuyan nodded. She had prepared for this in her previous life, but she hadn't even reached City S when she went back to the ancient times. Returning to her workstation, Zhou Shuyan picked up her phone from the table and walked out, stopping only in the corridor.

Zhou Shuyan dialed number 1 on her phone and waited quietly for two seconds before the other end of the line answered: "Hello, my dear daughter, what's wrong?"

Listening to the gentle female voice on the other side, Zhou Shuyan's heart ached and tears flowed out: "Mom, I want to eat braised pork tonight."

Zhou's mother smiled and said, "Okay, I'll go to the market to buy some vegetables after get off work, and ask your dad to make you some braised pork." Then she paused and asked, "What's wrong with Yanyan? Why doesn't your voice sound right?"

Zhou Shuyan wiped her tears and replied, "It's okay, maybe I choked on some water just now."

The two mother and daughter chatted for a while, and then someone from Zhou's mother's side called her, so she hung up the phone. Zhou Shuyan dialed number 2 again, and the ringing lasted for a while before the call was connected: "Hello, Yanyan, Dad was in a meeting just now, what's wrong? My dear daughter."

Zhou Shuyan couldn't cry anymore. She smiled and said, "Dad, let's have braised pork tonight. I haven't had it for a week. I want to eat it."

A hearty laugh came from the other end: "Oh, no problem, Dad will show you his skills tonight."

Hearing Zhou's father's laughter, Zhou Shuyan's face also unconsciously put on a big smile. The two chatted for two minutes before hanging up the phone. Zhou Shuyan went to the bathroom, wiped her face with a warm towel, and then returned to her workstation.

Zhou Shuyan works for a medical company with a 9-to-5 schedule and two days off, rarely requiring overtime. Their project department rarely travels, taking only one or two trips a year. Her daily duties consist of preparing project materials and occasionally collaborating with the Commerce Department on bids. While the daily workload isn't hectic, it does require a certain level of professionalism. Zhou Shuyan has adapted well to the company after just over a year.

At 5:50, everyone at the next workstation started getting ready to leave. Sister Jiang came over and talked to Zhou Shuyan about the project. At 6:00, everyone was ready to leave their workstations and punch in.

When Zhou Shuyan got on the elevator, the long-lost feeling of weightlessness as the elevator descended finally cleared her confused mind.
