Chapter 8 Rekindling the Fighting Spirit

Chapter 8 Rekindling the Fighting Spirit

That stack of papers is Lin Xu's resume.

The computer was not turned off and the page remained on the recruitment website.

Zhou Yan sat down on the edge of the sofa and looked through his resume.

Lin Xu went to a very good university, majoring in horticultural design, and won many awards during his time at school.

Zhou Yan seemed to be able to see the scene when Lin Xu was in high spirits when he won the competition.

But the work experience column is blank.

He has been unemployed since the year he graduated?

Zhou Yan discovered the problem after reading his recruitment information.

No wonder he ran around for so many days and even got heatstroke but still couldn't find a suitable job.

Just as I was thinking about it, there was suddenly movement behind me.

Lin Xu turned over in his sleep and almost fell off the sofa.

Fortunately, Zhou Yan was sitting next to the sofa, blocking him.

Lin Xu threw his leg directly onto Zhou Yan's shoulder.

Zhou Yan laughed angrily and slapped Lin Xu on the butt: "Wake up, don't sleep anymore."

Lin Xu opened his eyes in a daze and saw that his legs were draped over Zhou Yan in a bad posture, and he woke up instantly.

"You...you're back." Lin Xu retracted his legs and sat up.

Zhou Yan was still wearing the sportswear he had worn when he left, and he looked a few years younger than his usual suit and tie look.

If someone like him were in college, he would at least be considered the most handsome boy in the department.

Lin Xu blinked, but his eyes did not move away from Zhou Yan's face.

Zhou Yan first pointed to the sofa towel hanging on the balcony and said, "Didn't I tell you to have a good rest? Why are you washing it?"

Lin Xu is not an unreasonable person. He can't pretend not to hear what Zhou Yan said to him that day.

When two people live together, they must respect each other.

In fact, it was like this when I lived in the dormitory before.

So after Zhou Yan left, Lin Xu did some housework within his ability.

"You don't have to let me wash it. I just put it in the washing machine. It's okay." Lin Xu scratched his messy hair.

Zhou Yan has always felt guilty about scolding Lin Xu for the hygiene issue that day.

Only he himself knew that, in addition to the dirt and mess, the main reason was that he had been busy and stressed out at work recently, and he used Lin Xu as an outlet for his emotions.

Otherwise, he would have discovered earlier that Lin Xu was unwell.

Seeing that Lin Xu had changed because of his words, Zhou Yan felt a little relieved and a little apologetic.

Lin Xu is a good boy. Even if he really did something wrong, we can talk to him nicely.

"Thank you for your hard work." Zhou Yan raised his hand and rubbed Lin Xu's hair.

Lin Xu quietly tightened his hands on his knees.

He didn't know why Zhou Yan loved to rub his head so much, like stroking a dog.

However, this action, which may not mean anything to Zhou Yan, is really ambiguous to Lin Xu.

Lin Xu could only keep reminding himself that Zhou Yan was a straight man, so don’t think too much about it.

Zhou Yan didn't notice Lin Xu's inner struggle at all. He picked up one of Lin Xu's resumes and said, "I'm sorry for looking at your resume without your permission. Would you like to hear some advice from me, someone with some work experience? I might know why you weren't successful in your application."

When Lin Xu heard him say that, he immediately raised his head and said, "Of course I am willing."

Seeing that he didn't mind his meddling in other people's business, Zhou Yan leaned on the sofa with his hands and sat up from the floor.

"The school part of your resume is so beautifully written." Zhou Yan pointed out the problem directly.

Lin Xu was puzzled: "What's the problem with this? These are all my achievements and proof of my ability."

"If you have work experience, then of course there's no problem with including this. But since your work experience section is blank and you're not a recent graduate, the HR department will certainly think twice before seeing this resume."

Lin Xu pursed his lips.

He also scoffed at his past of being obsessed with love, but no job meant no job, and he couldn't make up stories.

People in this line of work basically know each other, and they can find out whether you are lying by asking around, and you will be exposed sooner or later.

"I'm not asking you to write randomly. But think about it, fresh graduates have little experience and are very adaptable, so you're not competitive in this regard. Veterans are also very experienced, so you're also not competitive. And you've listed so many past awards, so HR will think you're difficult to deal with."

"If we give you the treatment of a fresh graduate, you will definitely not be satisfied with your award-winning record. If we give you the treatment of a veteran, people will not be happy either."

"Also, I imagine you were very confident during the interview. Although I'm not very familiar with your field, our company operates event venues, which does have some connection to the arts. This industry can't be separated from current trends. You haven't done related work in a year. Are you sure you can still maintain a keen sense of current trends?"

After Zhou Yan finished speaking, Lin Xu fell silent.

Because what Zhou Yan said makes a lot of sense.

He was indeed too conceited, just as Zhou Yan said.

In order to cover up the shortcoming of having no work experience, he deliberately emphasized his previous achievements.

But that was all in the past. Gardening design styles must keep pace with the times, and past awards cannot represent current aesthetics.

Zhou Yan didn't rush him, waiting for him to digest his words.

Lin Xu lowered his big eyes to look at his feet, frowned and thought for a while, then suddenly became discouraged.

"I admit, you're right. But if I don't write this, and I have no work experience, won't they be even less likely to hire me?"

Zhou Yan chuckled. "You can keep one or two prestigious competitions, and then write in your work experience that you spent the year studying. It's the weekend, so you'd better use these two days to research the current trends in garden design so you can perform well during the interview."

Lin Xu nodded: "If I do this, there may be job opportunities, but they will definitely lower the base salary."

"That depends on your own abilities. If your designs are mediocre, even if you're offered a high base salary now, it will decrease in the future. If your designs are exceptional, your salary will definitely increase. If your boss doesn't give you a raise, it will be much easier to change jobs now that you have work experience."

Zhou Yan patiently helped Lin Xu analyze the pros and cons and taught him how to deal with the situation, and Lin Xu suddenly became enlightened.

The dim eyes brightened up again: "Okay, I'll try!"

Zhou Yan handed the resume back to him: "Then you can revise it. I'll go cook."

"Brother Zhou."

Lin Xu suddenly raised his hand and grabbed the hem of Zhou Yan's clothes as he stood up.

"What's wrong?" Zhou Yan looked down at him and asked.

"Thank you so much." Lin Xu said sincerely and seriously.

Zhou Yan reached out his hand to the top of Lin Xu's head again: "Alright, it's just an opinion. Thank me when you get the right job."

"good!"

Lin Xu, who had been depressed for many days, was full of energy again after Zhou Yan's guidance.

Revise your resume and check out recent award-winning gardening designs and popular trends in flowers and plants.

It was as if I had returned to the state of full confidence before participating in competitions when I was in school.
