Chapter 4
Many of the children in the alley were only seven or eight years old. When they saw them coming, they quickly ran to the wall and whispered, "Brother Kui, Sister Yuanyuan and the others are here."
The leading boy saw that they had just arrived and jumped down from the wall impatiently: "Why are you so late?"
Seeing him just jump down from the wall, Bai Yuanyuan looked at him with disdain: "Shi Kui, you're peeking into Xianxian Tower again? The beating you got from the thugs last time wasn't painful enough, was it?"
"You can't take a peek without money, right? I'm not looking at you. The girls in Xianxian Tower are all like fairies, how can you?" The man named Shi Kui looked at Bai Yuanyuan with disdain, clicked his tongue a few times, and turned to her and said, "Lin Zhuiyu, I heard that Cao Jiaxu was caught by the Jinwu Guards when he went to your house to cause trouble. Aren't you afraid of retaliation from the Cao family?"
She naturally shrugged it off, crossed her arms, and told him everything that had happened: "The Jinwu Guards were supposed to inspect publications. Who would have thought that Cao Jiaxu would be there at that time and speak so arrogantly? He should have been punished long ago."
After she finished speaking, she saw Shi Kui and Bai Yuanyuan turned to look at her, their expressions very strange, especially Bai Yuanyuan. She was stunned for a while before she tugged at the corner of Jian Xinyi's clothes: "Yu, have you been provoked by Cao Jiaxu recently?"
"No, why do you say that?"
Na Shikui scratched his head and stammered, "It just feels like... you're a little different from before."
Bai Yuanyuan also seemed to remember something and was very excited: "Yeah, come to think of it, Cao Jiaxu bullied you so much, and you didn't cry."
Jian Xinyi was suddenly confused and didn't know what to say for a moment. She was no longer Lin Zhuiyu, so naturally her behavior and personality had changed a lot. If she had known earlier, she would not have come to meet her original friends. Now she had to find a reasonable excuse to cover it up.
"I've figured it out. Instead of being bullied like before, I might as well find a way out for myself." She pondered for a moment, and now she could only blame everything on her nephew, who took advantage of his power to bully others. "In the past, I always thought Cao Jiaxu was from a wealthy family, so I didn't dare to touch him. Now that he's been captured by the Jinwu Guards, I'm naturally relieved."
Seeing her long speech, Shi Kui waved his hand in disdain, turned around and jumped onto the wall again: "Alright, alright, wait for me for a moment, Miss Qianrou is here, don't delay me from seeing her."
Jian Xinyi was speechless. She hadn't met many men in her previous life, but none so eager. This was quite novel. She turned to Bai Yuanyuan and asked, "Is he always like this?"
Bai Yuanyuan sighed, "Yes, he's the biggest guy in North Street, but he's also the most unruly. He even brought Sanbao and the others to a place like this."
Although her tone was serious, there was a particularly hidden sadness in her eyes, which happened to be seen by Jian Xinyi. It seemed that Bai Yuanyuan had some feelings for Shi Kui, but she couldn't tell whether these feelings were good or bad.
People like Jian Xinyi who make otome games spend their days beautifying the love in this world to the greatest extent possible. Sometimes even she herself gets lost in it and cannot distinguish right from wrong.
Bai Yuanyuan looked at Shi Kui on the wall in a daze. Finally, she took the child's hand and said with a little anger, "Sanbao, go back with the sisters. We won't go along with him."
Upon hearing this, Shi Kui sneered, but his figure remained unchanged, still clinging to the top of the wall. "What a joke! Miss Qian Rou is the most popular beauty in Xianxian Tower. Ordinary young men would spend a fortune to see her, but now I can see her without spending a single ounce of silver. Isn't that wonderful?"
"That's nonsense! If I had known you'd come to a place like this today, I wouldn't have brought Sister Yu with me." Bai Yuanyuan wanted to argue with him, but she realized Jian Xinyi was still frozen in place, feeling a little guilty. "Sister Yu, it's all my fault today. You should go back now. Your father would be furious if he knew you came to a place like this with us."
Upon hearing this, Shi Kui nodded and replied, "That's right, that old man Lin, his eyes will definitely pop out of his sockets."
Unexpectedly, this sentence attracted the attention of the people in Xianxian Tower, who shouted, "Who is this lecher who dares to peek over the wall? Hurry and catch him and give him a beating."
Upon hearing this, Shi Kui jumped down the wall and ran away. However, it was not the first time that the thugs from Xianxian Tower had caught him, so they naturally tied him up and took him into the building with ease.
The kid named Sanbao was a little worried and tugged at Bai Yuanyuan's sleeve tightly: "What should we do? Brother Shi Kui has been tied up again."
Bai Yuanyuan glanced at him sideways. "What can we do? He insisted on climbing over the wall to peek at people. He deserves a beating. Beat him hard."
The child next to Sanbao sobbed and looked towards Xianxian Tower, asking, "What if Brother Kui doesn't come back?"
Bai Yuanyuan was upset by these children and walked out without caring: "If you can't come back, then you can't come back."
Jian Xinyi also followed them, but she was thinking about how to explain to Lao Lin if she met him.
Sanbao was still worried after walking so far and saw that no one had caught up with him. He shook Bai Yuanyuan's arm and said, "We should tell Uncle Shi to redeem him."
Before Bai Yuanyuan could say anything, the other kid retorted, "You're crazy! If Brother Shi finds out you secretly told his father, he'll probably give you a beating."
Sanbao was still worried, his face wrinkled. "What should I do? Brother Shi Kui hasn't come out yet. What if he really gets beaten..."
"Okay, I'll go back and take a look."
After saying that, Bai Yuanyuan turned around and walked back. Jian Xinyi had no choice but to follow her back.
As the sky gradually darkened, the streets became sparsely populated, with only some hurried travelers and drunk diners. When Jian Xinyi saw these drunks, she pinched her nose and walked sideways, which attracted a lot of stares.
Unlike the desolate streets, Xianxian Building is bustling with people. Big red lanterns were hung high on the eaves early in the morning, and the scene was filled with elegantly dressed people toasting each other.
Bai Yuanyuan and Jian Xinyi were both girls, and Sanbao and the others were all children. They looked at each other, not knowing how to enter the Xianxian Tower.
San Bao showed a maturity that was different from his peers at this time and was the first to speak: "How about we climb over the wall and get in?"
After hearing this, Bai Yuanyuan turned around and asked Jian Xinyi, "Can you?"
Jian Xinyi shook her head and asked the question again: "Can you?"
A sudden silence fell.
Just as the group of people were getting anxious and worried, Jian Xinyi spotted the patrolling Jinwu Guards on the opposite side. She immediately had an idea in her mind, "Wait here, I'll go get them."
"Why."
She walked towards the patrolling Jinwu Guards, searching for the cold man she had seen during the day. However, the Jinwu Guards were very uncooperative when they saw her behaving strangely, and even stopped her directly: "The Jinwu Guards are patrolling the capital, no one is allowed to disturb us."
Jian Xinyi was about to explain when she saw that familiar face. Without caring about who was in front of her, she shouted, "Hey, it's you. Didn't we meet this morning?"
When the indifferent man heard the voice, he turned his head, and when he saw it was her, he quickly turned his face away.
Seeing that she was still acting as she pleased, the Jinwu Guard raised his sword and threatened, "If you scream again, I will arrest you for disturbing the peace."
Jian Xinyi looked at the iron sword at her neck and took a few steps back. She quickly explained to them, "That's not the case, sir. My friend is trapped in Xianxian Tower, and they won't let us in. I have no other help, so I came to bother you."
The group of Jinwu Guards were very puzzled and asked doubtfully, "Since this happened in Xianxian Tower, why are you looking for the Jinwu Guards?"
Jian Xinyi was also at a loss for a moment. She couldn't really force her way into Xianxian Tower with the child. Her face became even more anxious. She clasped her hands together and begged the indifferent man, "Sir, please, just let us into Xianxian Tower to rescue them. We won't delay your patrol."
The indifferent man narrowed his eyes slightly and slowly stepped out from the patrolling Jinwu Guards. His face was expressionless, but he still agreed to Jian Xinyi's request: "Let me do it."
The Jinwu Guards were surprised to see him step forward, but they didn't know what to say and could only continue patrolling.
Seeing that this man still had some conscience, Jian Xinyi put on a cheerful and enthusiastic look, her eyes sparkling and bright. She raised her head and said a lot in a burst of words: "Thank you so much, it's such a coincidence that we've met twice today. I didn't even know your name. My name is Lin Zhuiyu, what's yours?"
"Qian Yuan."
"So it's Master Qian. Master Qian is truly kind-hearted."
"Go save people first."
Young Master Qian was just like he was in her game, very taciturn. Jian Xinyi was very satisfied. This living character template was hard to come by, so she began to look up and quickly analyze this person's personality and likes and dislikes.
He has a cold personality and is an ancient policeman. He is helpful and always has a light woody scent on him.
The character setting is okay.
Arriving at the gate of Xianxian Tower, the cold-hearted man took out his badge and said in a stern tone, "The Jinwu Guards are on routine patrol. We're calling you, the madam of Xianxian Tower, out. Someone has complained about you abusing civilians and lynching them."
The woman at the door saw the man's face was livid and he was a member of the Jinwu Guard, so she knew there was no time to waste. "How could this be? I'll call my mother out right away."
After saying this, he ran into the building.
When Jian Xinyi saw the women going back, she winked at Bai Yuanyuan and told them to go back first.
After a while, a beautiful woman slowly walked out of Xianxian Tower. She was wearing a crimson, gold-threaded, muslin-like skirt, revealing her fair complexion. She was not shy when she saw Young Master Qian, and asked in a gentle voice, "Master Jinwuwei, why don't you come to our Xianxian Tower and sit down when you have time?"
But Master Qian still looked inhumane. "No need to say anything more. Let their friends go."
The madam immediately understood what was going on and said with a smile, "Sir, you don't know. Their friend climbed over the wall to spy on the girls in the building. He was caught and refused to admit it. He was beaten and passed out. He is now in the woodshed."
Jian Xinyi and Qian Yuan looked at each other, then followed the madam towards the woodshed.
As they walked through the lobby of Xianxian Tower, they could hear the sounds of teasing and toasting. Jian Xinyi felt a little embarrassed, her face flushed, and she felt very uncomfortable. But she saw that Qian Yuan didn't even look at her, and just treated it as a routine matter. She was very unhappy, and secretly calmed herself down and strode in.
After leaving the hall and walking a few steps along the courtyard, the madam pointed to the dark side room in the distance and said, "This is it."
The two men opened the woodshed door together, only to find it all dark. The madam stepped forward and raised the lantern, intending to let them see the scene clearly. However, she was frightened by the sight and screamed, "Ahhhhh! Someone's dead!"
