Chapter 25: Extortion (2)

That's it.

The second sister said that there was a torn cotton-padded jacket at home, and she would go back and wash it, then bring the cotton over to Lin Lan to use to sew the quilt.

Tang Hehua didn't join in the fun, and even if she had any, she would not give it away.

Wang Lianying was able to take out half a pound of new flowers, which were distributed during the Chinese New Year. She had never been willing to use them, saying that she would use them to sew a new shirt for her man.

"Fourth Aunt has just separated from the family, so she must be short of something. Take it back and make a blouse for Xiaowang."

When Mrs. Lin saw her daughter-in-law's statement, she took out three pounds of old cotton and threw it on the kang. "It's the quilt you gave me before. I took apart and washed two quilts and put them together for one quilt. I still have these left."

Lin Lan originally wanted to vent her anger, but she didn't expect everyone to do something beyond her expectations, which made her eyes moist.

Mrs. Lin asked her eldest daughter-in-law to find a piece of rag to tie up the cotton. "Let her carry it back. Leave the basket. It's prettier than the one your father made."

Lin Mei couldn't help but say, "Mother, why didn't the fourth child bring back the things? You didn't chase her away, but let her pretend. The sun is rising from the west...

She leaned her hands on the awning and looked west.

Old Mrs. Lin picked up the kang broom and hit her, "Don't behave like this and make your sister-in-law laugh at you. Is our Lin family relying on your little stuff to survive?"

Lin Mei immediately exaggerated: "Oh, don't count on it, elder sister and second sister, you don't have to bring anything in the future..."

"Okay, Dad and the others should be back soon, let's get ready for dinner." Sister Lin tried to smooth things over, "Third and Fourth Aunts, stop being so mean, you'll end up in trouble if you make the old lady angry."

She is the eldest sister-in-law and is about the same age as her two eldest and two younger sisters. They get along well with each other. Although the two younger sisters have been quarreling since they were young, they respect her and she is more easy-going with them.

After the men come back, I chat and give them some instructions. After dinner, they have to go back to work.

Lin Lan carried the cotton and two big steamed buns home. Lin Mei walked three miles with her and helped her carry Xiaowang for a while.

The cotton was given by my mother's family, the big steamed bun was given by my third sister, and the other two were naturally given to the old lady.

When she was leaving, the old lady couldn't help but scold her, "Don't be so lazy all day long. The child's father is back, so just live a good life." In fact, the old lady had said this before, but the original owner didn't take it seriously.

Lin Lan nodded, "Okay, I'll come see you guys later."

When they reached the intersection, Lin Mei was still carrying Xiao Wang on her back, so Lin Lan asked her to put him down.

Lin Mei carried Xiao Wang for a while before putting him down. "As if I really want to walk with you, I really want Xiao Wang."

She took out a roll of Mao Zedong notes from her pocket and said, "My mother gave it to you secretly, so I also gave you a piece..."

Lin Lan was stunned for a moment, "I don't want money, I have money."

She has a lot more money than them.

"Don't talk nonsense. You have never listened to me since you were a child. Live a good life after the separation. You should do everything now in one go. You will be reluctant to give it up after a while." She stuffed the money into Lin Lan's hand, touched Xiaowang, turned around and left.

Lin Lan took the money and suddenly felt her eyes and nose sore and her vision blurred. She wiped her eyes and put the money in her pocket.

"Xiao Wang, don't think your grandmother and third aunt are fierce, they are good people."

Xiao Wang nodded, "Let's be nice to them too."

Lin Lan wanted to carry Xiao Wang on her back, but he refused, so she carried the cotton and the big steamed buns and took him home.

When I got home, I found the door was hung and no one was home. I guess they all went to work.

She opened the door and went home. Xiaowang took the flute and went to play with the little duck. Lin Lan was tidying up the cotton, but found a telegram on the table.

It was sent to Han Qingsong by the army: Come back soon.
