With less than four weeks left until her due date, Ni Sitian has recently started having inexplicable restlessness at night, often waking up from nightmares.
Xu Tingchuan, lying next to her, naturally felt it. He would wake up every night to comfort Ni Sitian, massage her cramped legs, help her get out of bed to the bathroom, and also serve her tea and water.
Seeing that Xu Tingchuan had worked so hard during the day and was still unable to sleep well at night because of her, Ni Sitian advised him to go to another room, but he insisted on staying with her.
She didn't know why, but as the days became increasingly tight, she always felt a sense of panic.
"Sister-in-law, this is called prenatal depression. Many mothers worry about their baby's health as they approach delivery, so they overthink things. As long as the baby is born, everything will be fine." Xu Jiayue was home on Sunday, which was rare for her. With only a month left until the wedding, she had been busy preparing for the wedding. At least the baby should be healthy, right? She could feel him being quite active in her belly lately. He should be a lively child.
Neither she nor Xu Tingchuan considered getting a gender test, because they felt it was more like a gift from heaven. Of course, the happiest moment is when you find out the gift the moment you open it. Anyway, they didn't care about gender; health was their top priority.
Seeing that Ni Sitian still seemed a little uneasy and worried, Xu Jiayue wanted to divert her attention, so she smiled and said, "Sitian, would you like to see more photos of my brother when he was a child?"
Ni Sitian had seen photos of Xu Tingchuan from childhood to adulthood in this room, but the album only contained one photo per year. She thought Xu Tingchuan didn't like taking pictures, so he only took one as a memento.
"Where?" Ni Sitian was very curious. He wanted to see more of what he looked like, so that the baby would look more like him.
"Wait a moment, I'll go get it." Xu Jiayue got up and walked quickly out, heading upstairs to Xu Haicheng's study.
Ni Sitian felt as if the baby in her belly was stretching out its arms and legs. She looked down and touched it, smiling slightly, "So eager to come out?"
Xu Jiayue carried down a huge photo album, spread it out on the table, and showed it to Ni Sitian, saying, "Most of these are photos of everyone together, but Mom wasn't too keen on taking them. It seems like only two or three are real family photos. Oh, and Grandpa is in one of them too."
Ni Sitian opened the heavy hard cover of the photo album and looked down. The first picture was of Xu Haicheng holding a baby; the photo was yellowed and old. Xu Haicheng looked very young, no less handsome than Xu Tingchuan now, and even more spirited.
Then the treasure in his hand must be Xu Tingchuan. Ni Sitian couldn't help but smile. Xu Tingchuan was so young, yet he had such a serious and upright face.
"You keep an eye on this, I'll go downstairs and get some tea and snacks." Xu Jiayue saw that this book was so thick, it would keep them flipping through it for a long time, so she ran downstairs to get some tea and snacks.
Ni Sitian nodded casually, her eyes still fixed on the photo album as she continued flipping through it.
