“Yes, you don’t go to bed after three days, you go to bed on the same day.” Xu Jiayue was used to arguing with him, so she said it naturally.
Pei Yang's face darkened, and he wanted to defend himself, but Xu Jiayue waved her hand and said, "Alright, I'm tired, you can go back now."
She turned around, opened the car door, sat directly in the driver's seat, and drove towards the gate.
Pei Yang rubbed his temples helplessly. He was just not that virtuous, and it would be hard to change his image anytime soon.
After watching her car drive away, he turned back into his own car. The insulated lunchbox was still on his passenger seat. He reached out and placed his hand on it, tapping it lightly with his fingers, a smile playing on his lips.
When Xu Jiayue entered the house, everyone had gone back to their rooms to sleep. She quietly walked into her own room.
As soon as the light was turned on, the phone rang; it was Pei Yang calling.
Xu Jiayue frowned. This was too clingy; they were already calling each other after just separating.
"Don't make a phone call while driving," she said as she answered the phone, walking towards the window to pull down the curtains.
“I wasn’t driving.” Pei Yang leaned against the car, looking up at her window in the distance.
Xu Jiayue also saw that he was still standing there. Because the gate was far from the main house, she couldn't see his face clearly, but it seemed that he was looking up at her.
"It's late, you should go home now," she said to him from the window.
"Mm," Pei Yang replied, but did not move.
"Don't just pay lip service, hurry back," Xu Jiayue urged as she saw snow starting to fall.
“Okay.” Pei Yang smiled, as if he could see the expression on her face as she said these words.
"If you don't get in the car now, I'm going to get angry." Xu Jiayue grabbed the curtain and slammed it shut. She felt that if she didn't close it, he would keep watching her and wouldn't leave.
"Well then, goodnight." Pei Yang looked away and opened the car door.
"Okay, goodnight." Xu Jiayue said as she heard him get into the car, "Drive carefully."
After saying that, she hung up the phone, then quietly pulled open a small gap in the curtains and watched him drive away.
She sighed, turned around, walked back to the bedside, sat down, and untied her scarf.
Come to think of it, this scarf looks familiar; it seems to be a Christmas gift she gave to Gu Chen one year.
Of course, she was rejected without hesitation. That day, she went to a bar, cried, and threw away the gift. Later, when the bar closed, Pei Yang came to pick her up.
Could this scarf be that one...?
Xu Jiayue looked at it carefully with suspicion. It was a limited edition from B brand with a very special design. It was only released that year. Could it be that Pei Yang also happened to buy this?
But did he like her back then? That was more than ten years ago, and he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would accept gifts she gave to other men, does he?
Never mind, I'll ask tomorrow.
That doesn't seem like a good idea either. Asking would be awkward, and whether it's true or not, it would bring up her past infatuation with Gu Chen.
They're only just starting out, so they should probably avoid this awkward situation.
Xu Jiayue realized that she had indeed become strange. In the past, she and Pei Yang had never been so particular about these things; they could say whatever they wanted.
I don't know if turning him into my boyfriend is the right or wrong thing to do; something so simple has become complicated.
Ugh, so annoying!
Xu Jiayue threw the scarf onto the sofa, rolled around on the bed a few times, and then went to sleep.
