Ni Sitian ran back to the car and took Tuantuan back from Xu Tingchuan's arms.
Xu Tingchuan started the car and said with a faint smile, "Didn't you say you would never forgive Mu Zhi no matter what?"
“Who said I forgave him? What he did to Zhi Lan is never forgivable.” Ni Sitian retorted, then pursed her lips to defend her actions: “I didn’t forgive him. I gave him the photo because I felt sorry for him and because I took care of Tuantuan for a whole night.”
She got the photo from her mother; she originally intended to put it in her photo album.
“Mu Zhi,” Xu Tingchuan paused, then sighed softly, “has had a difficult year.”
If it were before, Ni Sitian would have gone back to Xu Tingchuan, and he deserved his misfortune.
But Ni Sitian wouldn't say that now. She's a mother herself and has experienced separation from her child. She understands all too well the heart-wrenching pain of separation from one's own flesh and blood. And he probably loved Zhi Lan, but it was just too late.
“Fate also depends on timing, and their timing was clearly wrong.” Ni Sitian didn’t say anything more, and lowered her head to hug Tuantuan tightly.
Xu Tingchuan drove into the traffic without discussing the topic.
Back home, after giving Tuantuan a bath, Ni Sitian went to take a shower herself.
She came out after taking a shower, but didn't see Tuantuan in the room, while Xu Tingchuan returned from outside.
"Where's Tuantuan?" Ni Sitian asked.
"I'm sleeping with Mom," Xu Tingchuan said as he went into the bathroom to wash up.
Ni Sitian was even more puzzled: "Why are you suddenly sleeping with Mom?"
“We’re moving back to our own place after the Spring Festival, so let’s let Tuantuan and Grandma get to know each other better,” Xu Tingchuan said while brushing his teeth.
Ni Sitian nodded knowingly; that was indeed the way it should be.
She's back and can take care of Tuantuan now. It would be better for them to go back to live there. Although they have a good relationship with their parents-in-law and sister-in-law, it's never as comfortable as living alone as the three of them.
"I haven't been back for so long, I wonder if those flowers on the balcony have withered." Ni Sitian felt a pang of heartache when she thought of this, after all, she had worked so hard to plant them for so long.
"Don't worry, I've watered it all." He had kept the house in good condition to ensure she would return, but recently he had been thinking of making some changes.
Relieved by this, Ni Sitian walked to the window and pulled down the curtains. Just as she was about to turn around, she was hugged from behind and her neck was gently sucked and bitten, making her shrink back because it was a little itchy.
"What are you doing?" She tilted her head to look at him shyly, her hands resting on his arms that were tightly wrapped around her waist.
"Is it clean?" Xu Tingchuan asked in a low, husky voice, slowly kissing her neck down to her ear.
Ni Sitian didn't understand for a moment and hummed in confusion.
"It's been six days already, it should be over by now." Xu Tingchuan deeply inhaled the fragrance emanating from her.
Ni Sitian's face flushed instantly. She realized he was asking about her period. No wonder he sent Tuantuan to her mother-in-law. It turned out he had another purpose. If Tuantuan was there, he wouldn't be able to do his job properly.
"Hmm?" Seeing that she didn't respond, Xu Tingchuan reached down with his hand.
Ni Sitian grabbed his hand. It was even more embarrassing to be seen through his pants than to be completely naked. She pursed her lips and whispered, "It's clean."
Xu Tingchuan smirked, picked her up by the waist, and placed her on the large bed. Before she could react, he covered her with his body.
Ni Sitian wanted to speak, but he silenced her with a sharp retort, and they engaged in a fierce verbal battle.
