Ni Sitian had a thousand questions to ask Xiang Zhilan, but she felt that the hospital corridor was crowded with people and not a convenient place to talk.
Xiang Zhilan also had so many questions for Ni Sitian. She knew nothing about what had happened back then, what the funeral was all about, and what the reasons were. She wanted to know everything.
For a moment, neither of them knew where to begin. Just as they figured it out, they both spoke at the same time.
They didn't say anything more, just smiled at each other, their tacit understanding as best friends was on full display.
"Are you leaving again this time?" Ni Sitian held Xiang Zhilan's hand; her hand was soft and warm.
Xiang Zhilan shook her head: "I'm not leaving."
In fact, she had been considering returning to China since Luo Zhenxian passed away in June.
Later, she had a great opportunity to participate in an international photography competition, which took her another six months. It wasn't until she won the award recently that she decided to return to China.
In the two years that followed, she matured a bit and realized that she couldn't avoid Shen Muzhi forever. She still had her parents and friends in Yihai, and she would eventually have to come back.
When Ni Sitian heard Xiang Zhilan say she wasn't leaving, she happily squeezed her hand.
Then another question came to mind, and I hesitated, unsure whether I should ask it.
Finally, she pursed her lips and asked, "Did you come back because you heard that Shen Muzhi is getting engaged?"
"Huh? He's getting engaged?" Xiang Zhilan was taken aback; she really didn't know.
Suddenly I remembered that Uncle De had seemed hesitant to speak a while ago. Could it be that he wanted to say this, but in the end he held back because he was afraid she would mind?
"You don't know? Then why did you suddenly decide to come back?" Ni Sitian asked, noticing that she seemed completely unaware.
Upon hearing this, Xiang Zhilan laughed and said, "Why are you making it sound like I'm rushing back to attend his wedding?"
"You know perfectly well that's not what I meant." Ni Sitian glared at her irritably, but seeing that she seemed genuinely unconcerned, she sighed inwardly, thinking that Shen Muzhi had wasted the last two years of waiting.
"That's fine too. Speaking of which, if he really invites me to his wedding and doesn't want a red envelope, I could just go and freeload." Xiang Zhilan smiled insincerely.
Ni Sitian was helpless and had to admit defeat.
It's been more than two years since I last saw her, and her personality has become even more carefree.
"Okay, let's not talk about such pointless things. When can I meet your Tuantuan?" Xiang Zhilan was always particularly happy when she talked about her child.
"You know Tuantuan?" Ni Sitian was slightly taken aback, thinking that she knew nothing about Yihai.
"Yes, I know more than just Tuantuan." Xiang Zhilan's smile faded slightly. She grasped Ni Sitian's hand and said softly, "I'm sorry, I learned some things too late."
Ni Sitian instantly understood what Xiang Zhilan was referring to, and smiled, "It's all in the past. Anyway, the ending was beautiful. A few twists and turns in the process will also become a memory in the future."
"No wonder you're a screenwriter, you speak so clearly." Xiang Zhilan teased with a smile.
"Stop making fun of me."
"I'm not trying to embarrass you at all. I've watched your show more than ten times. Don't forget your loyal fan when you become a famous screenwriter!"
"Okay, do you want me to sign your autograph now? My new drama is about to premiere in a few days." Ni Sitian followed up with an advertisement.
The two chatted comfortably on the benches in the corridor. As it gradually got dark, Xu Tingchuan called.
