Chapter 1222 Entering the Inner Chamber

Shen Muzhi looked at Xiang Zhilan and Luo Che. They stood together, each holding a child, looking like a close family.

Xiang Zhilan, however, thanked him politely, as if he were just the children's neighbor uncle.

He had no room to accuse her, because for the past two years, she and this man had probably raised the child together, and their intimacy was undeniable.

Xiang Zhilan opened the door, carried Hengheng into the house, and Luo Che followed her in. When he closed the door, he saw Shen Muzhi still standing at the door. He nodded politely to him and then closed the door.

Shen Mu gritted his teeth, his throat moved slightly, and the veins on his neck bulged slightly.

The man took his place, entered the house, and became close to his children and loving towards his woman.

"Mommy, I'm hungry," Xiao Kui said softly to Xiang Zhilan.

Uncle De was overjoyed to see them return and quickly brought out the food that had been kept warm.

Luo Che carried Xiao Kui to the dining table for dinner. Xiang Zhilan put Hengheng down, took his hand, and placed him in the high chair.

Hengheng sat up straight and properly.

Xiang Zhilan served the rice and handed it to them one by one.

Xiao Kui needs Luo Che to feed her, while Heng Heng prefers to eat by himself.

But this time Hengheng didn't pick up the spoon. Xiang Zhilan bent down, patted his little head, and asked softly, "Hengheng, what's wrong?"

Hengheng looked up at Xiang Zhilan, puzzled, "Why doesn't Daddy come in and eat with us?"

Xiang Zhilan was stunned for a moment, feeling a mix of emotions. Hengheng was more mature than Xiao Kui and had always found it difficult to get close to strangers, yet he liked Shen Muzhi so much on their first meeting.

"Dad has something to do today, let's have dinner together another day, okay?" Xiang Zhilan saw that she hadn't cooked enough for one more person today, and it would be awkward to call Shen Muzhi in, so she coaxed Hengheng.

Hengheng nodded reluctantly, his expression not very happy. He held his spoon and quietly lowered his head to eat.

The mischievous Hengheng suddenly became quiet, which made Xiang Zhilan feel a little uneasy.

He probably really, really likes Shen Muzhi and wants to be with her.

Xiang Zhilan sighed inwardly and changed the subject: "Hengheng, Xiaokui, shall we go to Grandpa and Grandma's house tomorrow?"

Hengheng had heard long ago that he would be coming back to see his maternal grandparents, and he immediately perked up: "I want to go, I want to go!"

"I'm going," Xiao Kui repeated the last two words of Heng Heng.

"Okay, let's eat our meals properly first." Xiang Zhilan put an egg on everyone's plate.

The cheerful atmosphere at the dinner table returned, and Luo Che smiled, but his smile suddenly froze.

The smile on his lips slowly faded as he noticed a purplish-red hickey peeking out from under her turtleneck sweater on her neck.

When he came back, he heard Uncle De say that she had been across the street for about half an hour.

He went to ring the bell and saw that Shen Muzhi's lip was chapped and his shirt was wrinkled.

Now that we see Xiang Zhilan's lips are swollen and there are hickeys on her neck, we can guess what they did in there without even having to say it.

Was Zhi Lan's participation voluntary or forced?

She didn't seem unhappy, so it's highly likely she did it voluntarily.

Last night, she rejected him so earnestly again, so she must still have feelings for her ex-husband.

"What's wrong?" Xiang Zhilan looked up and saw that he was staring at her, which she found a little strange.

Luo Che looked away, shook his head, and continued to feed Xiao Kui.
