As the children looked at the koala in the glass, Luo Che noticed that Xiang Zhilan's bag was drooping down her shoulder, as if it were very heavy, so he reached out his hand and said, "Let me help you carry it."
Xiang Zhilan refused, feeling that Luo Che was being nice to her now and that she was taking advantage of Su Yan.
"Why are you acting so strange today? You're not usually this awkward. I just wanted you to carry my bag." Luo Che sensed that Xiang Zhilan was becoming increasingly polite to him. He had initially thought she was trying to avoid suspicion, but she was being overly polite.
He simply took her backpack off his back and carried it himself.
This black backpack doesn't have any feminine features, so it wouldn't seem strange for Luo Che to be carrying it.
"Thank you," Xiang Zhilan said politely, then looked at the animals with the children.
Shen Muzhi watched their harmonious figures from a distance, feeling extremely bitter. He felt that he should have been the one standing in Luo Che's place.
Now, however, he's like a stalker, only able to watch them from afar, sneakily.
After spending two hours at the zoo, the group went to the restaurant inside. Luo Che went to queue up to buy food, while Xiang Zhilan and the children found a seat to wait.
"I like giraffes."
"I like lions; they look the most majestic."
"Tigers are more majestic."
"The lion is the king of the jungle."
The two children chatted excitedly, not looking tired at all. Xiang Zhilan smiled and wiped their hands. Seeing how happy they were, she was also happy and glad that she had brought them to play today. She was even more grateful to Luo Che.
After wiping their hands, Xiang Zhilan looked for hand cream in her bag. She searched for a while before finding it, but accidentally dropped it on the ground. It rolled a few times, and she got up to pick it up. When she looked up, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the glass mirror.
Before she could get a good look, the figure had vanished. She turned around, but there was no one at the doorway.
Xiang Zhilan frowned. Was it just her imagination? She thought she saw Shen Muzhi.
However, upon closer reflection, how could it possibly be Shen Muzhi? He even broke his promise to the children. If he were here, how could he not come to be with the children?
"What's wrong?" Luo Che asked as he brought over the food and saw Xiang Zhilan looking at something.
Xiang Zhilan snapped out of her daze, shook her head, sat down, and ate her meal with them.
In the afternoon, they went to the aquarium in the zoo. The aquarium had an arched ocean tunnel with dim lighting, surrounded by schools of fish on three sides, making it feel like being underwater.
Hengheng and Xiaokui really liked it and didn't want to leave, so they stayed a little longer.
Xiang Zhilan still felt that someone was watching them, and the feeling grew stronger, so she made an excuse to go to the toilet and asked Luo Che to take care of the two children first.
Taking advantage of the darkness and the large crowd, she quietly slipped outside.
Shen Muzhi had a stomachache, so he looked down and covered his stomach. When he looked up again, he saw Xiang Zhilan very close to him.
He quickly pulled his hat brim down and hurried outside.
"Shen Muzhi, you stop right there!" Xiang Zhilan saw a figure rushing out and knew it was him. She walked over quickly.
Shen Muzhi pretended not to hear and quickened his pace.
The two chased each other out of the underwater tunnel and into the bright outside. Shen Muzhi hid behind a huge map on the wall. The space inside was very narrow, with only two people standing in a row between the two walls.
It's truly shameful that he's ever been so afraid of people that he's hiding from them.
Her voice rang out very close by, and though he missed her so much, he didn't even dare to approach her.
