In the afternoon, Ni Sitian carried her suitcase and went up to the 18th floor to report for duty.
The office environment of the financial magazine is much better than downstairs. It is more spacious, bright, and decorated in a simple and elegant style. There is an entire wall with bookshelves displaying the magazines published since its inception, which looks very impressive.
"Is this Ni Sitian?" Editor-in-Chief Ma was a bald, bespectacled, fair-skinned middle-aged man who smiled very kindly.
Ni Sitian nodded and handed over her resume with both hands.
Editor-in-Chief Ma took the resume, didn't even glance at it, put it down, and smiled, "It was recommended by Editor-in-Chief Li, so of course I trust it."
“I have no prior experience in finance, and I’m worried…” Ni Sitian was completely unfamiliar with this field, so she was somewhat uneasy.
"Don't worry about that. Everyone starts from scratch, and we won't let you start writing articles right away." Editor-in-Chief Ma picked up his teacup, took a sip, and smiled. "I'll have Editor-in-Chief Xiao mentor you, starting with learning how to conduct interviews. I'm sure you'll be able to learn quickly with your intelligence."
Ni Sitian felt something was off. Today was the first day she met this editor-in-chief, and his attitude towards her was a little too kind. There was something wrong with her.
"I am very willing to give young people opportunities." Editor-in-Chief Ma realized that he had made it too obvious, so he laughed twice to defuse the situation.
"I will work hard." Ni Sitian smiled politely, pursing her lips.
Editor-in-Chief Ma picked up his teacup and took another small sip.
Ni Sitian thought he was alright and was about to leave when he suddenly asked, "Are you very familiar with President Qin of the Sixteenth Floor Technology Company?"
She frowned slightly, her voice devoid of emotion: "We're not close. He's just my senior from university."
"Hehe, that's a connection too. We interview financial celebrities and industry upstarts in this line of work. Having connections is a good thing; it makes things much easier." Editor-in-Chief Ma smiled and added, "Although Qin Mubei's tech company isn't very big yet, with his abilities, he'll eventually gain a foothold in the industry. Besides, his father has a good chance of running for the next mayor of Yihai. If you can make good use of this connection, you'll have a much easier time in any circle in the future."
Ni Sitian's face gradually darkened; she finally understood why she had been transferred here.
“I’m really not that familiar with him. If the editor-in-chief hopes that I can get in touch with him, I’m afraid it will disappoint you,” she said earnestly.
Editor-in-Chief Ma's smile froze for a moment, but he quickly recovered and said with a laugh, "That's not what I meant, don't take it to heart."
“If you have nothing else, I’ll head out now,” Ni Sitian asked.
Editor-in-Chief Ma nodded and said to Ni Sitian, "Go find Editor-in-Chief Xiao; she will arrange your work."
Ni Sitian bowed slightly and left the editor-in-chief's office.
The assistant editor led her to Editor-in-Chief Xiao, who was on the phone, and she stood quietly waiting.
The editor-in-chief, Xiao Ya, was a young woman who surprised her. She looked to be no more than twenty-five or twenty-six years old, and she was very beautiful with big, red, wavy hair. She was flamboyant and gorgeous, like a fashion magazine model.
After about ten minutes, Xiao Ya raised her head and nodded with her chin, indicating that she should sit down.
"I don't care what connections you had that made Editor-in-Chief Ma ask me to personally mentor you. Under me, only ability matters, not personal relationships." Xiao Ya immediately gave Ni Sitian a hard time.
