"Ahem, so you two remarried like that?" Ni Sitian choked in surprise upon hearing Xiang Zhilan's words.
"What else can I do? I've already agreed to everything." Xiang Zhilan sipped Ni Sitian's Da Hong Pao tea.
"No matter what, it's good that he didn't get that disease." Ni Sitian raised her teacup and smiled, "Then I'll toast you with tea instead of wine."
Xiang Zhilan smiled, gently clinked her teacups together, and said, "Shall we go pick up the kids together later?"
Ni Sitian glanced at the time; there was still about half an hour left before the early education class ended.
Today is the first day of formal classes for my child, and she is actually a little uneasy, worried about whether Tuantuan can adapt to the group.
"Let's go now." Ni Sitian stood up, much less composed than Xiang Zhilan.
The two left without warning, with Xiang Zhilan driving.
The early childhood education center is not far from the Huxinting Villa, about a ten-minute drive away.
When they arrived, get out of class had not yet ended, so they stood outside the window and looked at the children inside.
Ni Sitian saw Tuantuan sitting in the corner, head down, quietly doing something.
While the other children were listening to the teacher and looking at the blackboard, Tuantuan seemed to have her own little world.
He really is starting to look more and more like Xu Tingchuan when he was a child; in Jia Yue's words, he's practically an upgraded version of Xu Tingchuan.
"Xu Ziyu, pay attention to what the teacher is saying," the teacher reminded him, then clapped his hands and said, "Everyone, use the tangram pieces you have to create the shape of a house, based on what the teacher just said."
"How do we do this? Can a two-year-old understand?" Xiang Zhilan said to Ni Sitian, then she looked at her two children. Hengheng had pieced together a square, while Xiao Kui had made a mess of it.
Ni Sitian sighed softly, and Xiang Zhilan followed her gaze to Tuantuan. Tuantuan looked as if she had already finished assembling the puzzle, and then silently took another set of tangrams and assembled it into a crab pattern.
The other children gathered around and asked Tuantuan to use her tangram pieces to create other ones.
The teacher went over to take a look, and as a result, Tuantuan put together seven or eight different patterns in one go.
"That's great!" The teacher had thought she had taken on an introverted and difficult child, but she was surprised to find that the child was so smart and had even pieced together a pattern that she hadn't taught her before. The child was so young yet already had the ability to apply what she had learned to other situations.
Tuan Tuan suddenly became the focus of the classroom, with everyone surrounding him to see how many patterns he could piece together.
"Why are you sighing? Tuantuan did a great job, didn't she?" Xiang Zhilan looked at Tuantuan, then at her own children, who were a few months older than Tuantuan.
“He spelled very well, but haven’t you noticed that he hasn’t said a single word yet?” Ni Sitian was envious when she saw Hengheng and Xiaokui chatting and laughing with the other children.
“You’re worrying too much. There’s really no need for that. Look at Shen Muzhi, he’s even quieter than Xu Tingchuan, but he’s grown up just fine. Besides, he doesn’t even have Xu Tingchuan’s intelligence,” Xiang Zhilan comforted Ni Sitian.
Ni Sitian chuckled. "Who talks about their husband like that?"
As she spoke, she turned to look at Zhi Lan, only to find Shen Muzhi and Xu Tingchuan approaching.
“I’m telling the truth. Look how smart Tuantuan is. It’s obviously genetic. You’ll have an easier time from now on, at least you won’t have to worry about her studies. I’m going to be in big trouble.” Xiang Zhilan continued, not noticing Ni Sitian’s wink, and asked, “What’s wrong with your eyes?”
