"Pei Yang, do you remember that time we were together and you got really drunk?" Qin Yun changed the subject.
Pei Yang's pupils contracted. Wasn't her statement implying that the child was his?
“I was very happy that day because you opened up to me a side of yourself you had never shown before, and I saw your vulnerability.” Qin Yun slowly recalled, then her eyes suddenly darkened, and she said, “But that night, I was also very sad. Do you know why?”
Pei Yang didn't respond to her. He stared straight at her expression, trying to find any clues that she was lying.
“Because when you entered me, you kept calling out Jia Yue, Xu Jia Yue.” Qin Yun smiled bitterly and said, “Do you know how I felt at that time? I was actually thinking that if you were willing, I would be a substitute for life.”
Pei Yang didn't remember this part of what she said. That night was the first time Xu Jiayue had called him after she went abroad. He remembered Xu Jiayue telling him to keep an eye on Gu Chen and not let other women get close to him.
It was his birthday that day, and her phone call revolved entirely around Gu Chen. When she finally hung up, she didn't even say "Happy Birthday" to him.
He then went drinking with Qin Yun. He rarely let himself get truly drunk in his life, and that day was one of those rare occasions. So, he himself was not quite sure what he did or said while drunk.
All he remembered was the clothes thrown under the bed the next day, the messy sheets, and Qin Yun sleeping next to him.
"It seems you still have some recollection." Qin Yun stared at Pei Yang, who had finished recalling, and said, "The Jia Yue you keep mentioning, is this Miss Xu? Well, congratulations on finally marrying the one you love. But do you remember the reason you gave me for breaking up? You said I was too serious, you said you couldn't give me your true feelings, you said you were against marriage, but what are you doing now? You're happily getting married."

"Yes, you don't need me to love you. All you've ever wanted is for Miss Xu to love you. Only she deserves to love you." Qin Yun forced a bitter smile.
“You’re wrong. It’s never about whether she deserves to love me, but whether I deserve to love her,” Pei Yang said earnestly.
"You love her so humbly, it's not like you at all." Qin Yun picked up his coffee cup and took a sip.
Pei Yang didn't want to say anything more to her, and only said, "Can you tell me about that child now?"
Qin Yun lowered his brows, not raising his eyes, "Isn't it as you see it?"
Pei Yang looked at the child playing in the distance, his brow furrowing. Could it really be his child?
“When we met by chance last month, you didn’t mention this child at all, and you even took my gloves. Then you specifically asked Jia Yue to come out today. What’s the point of all this?” Pei Yang said with a sullen face, his eyes slowly narrowing, revealing a hint of danger.
"Actually, it doesn't really matter. I just heard you're getting married the day after tomorrow, and I'm a little unwilling to accept it." Qin Yun put down his cup and continued, "What's wrong? Does Miss Xu think you're not worthy of loving this child? Even if Pengpeng is your son, that's all in the past. Is she really that petty?"
