Li Shaoan clutched his stomach, his face contorted in pain.
Ni Sitian felt he deserved it. Ni Tianzhen was her uncle and aunt's only daughter, and she had grown up in a loving and doting environment. It was no wonder her parents were angry that he had hurt her like this.
However, when her uncle was about to hit Li Shaoan again, she stopped him slightly. Ni Tianzhen still needed someone to take care of her, and if Li Shaoan was seriously injured, she was afraid her uncle would be held responsible.
Fortunately, my uncle was a man who would listen to advice. Even though he was so angry that his chest was heaving, he still stopped punching.
Ni Sitian offered a few words of comfort and persuaded him to return to his ward.
Turning back to Li Shaoan, he said coldly, "No one here will welcome you for now. If you don't want to be crippled, I advise you to leave first."
Li Shaoan could barely stand upright even with the support of the wall, but he knew that his current pain was less than a tenth of the damage Ni Tianzhen had suffered. He felt he deserved it and had no complaints.
"I'll come see her again tomorrow," he said to Ni Sitian, his face pale with pain.
Ni Sitian didn't want to talk to him anymore, so she turned her head away and didn't say anything more.
After Li Shaoan walked away while supporting himself against the wall, Ni Sitian wanted to go in and check on Ni Tianzhen when her phone rang.
Without even glancing at the caller ID, she answered the call and leaned wearily against the wall: "Hello."
"Have you had dinner yet?" Xu Tingchuan had just come out of the conference room and was about to go home when he couldn't help but call Ni Sitian first.
Upon hearing Xu Tingchuan's voice, Ni Sitian's eyes reddened, and she choked out, "Not yet."
Xu Tingchuan keenly sensed something was wrong with her voice and asked urgently, "What's wrong? Where are you?"
“I’m on the third floor of the inpatient department at Friendship Hospital…” Ni Sitian sniffled, her voice choked with sobs, and tears streamed down her face.
Xu Tingchuan was startled, thinking that something had happened to her, and rushed to the elevator.
Before Ni Sitian could finish speaking, she heard Xu Tingchuan say, "I'm coming right away!"
The phone call ended as soon as he finished speaking.
Ni Sitian slowly stopped crying and sat on a bench in the hospital.
For some reason, she remembered many things from the past. Back then, she was a freshman in high school and was often bullied by the mother and daughter in her family. She often stayed overnight at her uncle and aunt's house and squeezed into a bed with Ni Tianzhen.
When a young, innocent girl has her first crush, they will share little secrets with each other.
Ni Tianzhen was much braver than her; upon realizing she liked Li Shaoan from the next class, she immediately confessed her feelings.
She, on the other hand, was much more timid and cautious. She had a crush on Qin Mubei for two years but had never intended to confess. It was Ni Tianzhen who encouraged her.
Although her first love ended tragically, seeing Ni Tianzhen and Li Shaoan finally become a couple, she never lost hope in love.
But now, she is shocked by the destructive power that love can bring.
When Xu Tingchuan arrived, he saw Ni Sitian huddled up on a bench.
He hurried over, squatted down in front of Ni Sitian, and asked anxiously, "Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
Ni Sitian looked up at the sound, and when she saw Xu Tingchuan, the tears that had stopped started flowing again. She hugged Xu Tingchuan's neck and sobbed.
Xu Tingchuan gently patted her back. From her intermittent narration, he roughly understood what had happened today, but comforting her was probably useless. He quietly held her and let her vent all her resentment and fear.
