Chapter 144 Charity Gala

Ni Sitian rushed out the door and forgot to take her coat. The weather had already turned cool, and it would be a bit cold at night without a coat.

I glanced at my watch; if I went back upstairs to get my clothes, I'd be in a bit of a rush.

She pursed her lips, decided to give up on getting it, and quickly walked out of the residential area to hail a taxi.

Jinjiang Hotel is the most famous luxury hotel in Yihai City. It has a history of more than 50 years and is located on Yihai Bay Beach, offering panoramic sea views.

At night, the sea breeze was biting, and there were far fewer people strolling on the beach than in the summer.

As soon as Ni Sitian got out of the car, the strong wind gave her goosebumps. She rubbed her arms and quickly walked into the hotel.

The interior architecture of Jinjiang Hotel still retains the European style of that era, understated luxury, calm and rustic.

She went up to the 29th floor, walked to the banquet hall, handed over the invitation, and went inside somewhat uneasily.

This was a world she had never experienced before. Seeing everyone dressed in gorgeous clothes, smiling and raising their glasses to greet each other, she felt like a sparrow who had mistakenly entered a phoenix's nest.

Many of them were business tycoons, celebrities, and government officials she had seen in her own magazine yesterday; this place is probably a microcosm of Yihai City's high society.

Ni Sitian was a little nervous. She took a light breath and stepped inside.

Once inside, the first thing she did was search for Xiao Ya. She didn't even know who she was supposed to interview today; she was like a headless fly.

After walking around the dance floor without seeing Xiao Ya, he found a conspicuous spot, thinking that if Xiao Ya came in, she would see him.

She hadn't been standing there long when someone she didn't want to see arrived.

"Sisi." Qin Mubei smiled, held a wine glass, and walked closer, gently calling her name, seemingly pleasantly surprised by her appearance.

Ni Sitian turned her gaze elsewhere and did not respond to him.

She was very grateful that the woman took her to the hospital in time yesterday, but she still hoped that their paths would cross again.

"Did you come here alone?" Qin Mubei ignored her coldness and stood beside her.

“Mr. Qin, I’m here to work, please don’t disturb me.” Ni Sitian gave him a cold look and tried to walk past him to another place.

"Sisi, I might be getting engaged," Qin Mubei suddenly said, his voice tinged with weariness and exhaustion.

Ni Sitian was stunned for a moment. He had only been back in China for a short time and didn't seem to have a girlfriend.

"It was a choice made by my family." Qin Mubei's lips twitched bitterly. To outsiders, he always seemed so glamorous and glorious, but in reality, he had many things he couldn't do without.

From childhood to adulthood, what books to read, which schools to attend, and which friends to make are all planned according to the parents' wishes.

He lived a very proper life, with only two exceptions.

First, he secretly dated Ni Sitian without telling his family; second, he slept with Ni Ziqi.

However, the final result was always tragic: he broke up with Ni Sitian and was forcibly sent abroad by his father to cover up the scandal.

Now things are back on track, and he has to follow his parents' arrangements to marry a woman he has only met twice.

Ni Sitian turned around and watched Qin Mubei tilt his head back and drink a large glass of red wine. Not knowing what to say, she finally said dryly, "Congratulations."

Qin Mubei looked down at her and saw that she was calm and did not seem to be affected at all, which made him feel very unwilling.

When he learned that she had gotten married, he was shocked, saddened, and disappointed—a complex mix of emotions.

And now she just casually congratulated him?!
