Luo Xikui was so nervous that she held her breath, and her eyes slowly closed.
Then she only felt his fingertips lightly brush against her cheek, and then she heard him say, "Why are you closing your eyes?"
She suddenly opened her eyes and saw that one of her eyelashes was on his index finger.
So that's what it was all about. She got all excited for nothing.
Xu Ziyu blew away the eyelash and picked up her exam paper with a normal expression.
Disappointed, Luo Xikui sat back down in her seat, propped her arms up, and watched him as he corrected and explained.
After finishing discussing the chemistry exam, Ni Sitian called the two of them downstairs for dinner.
After dinner, there was nothing particularly important to do. Luo Xikui was working on the extra math and physics problems that Xu Ziyu had given her, and inevitably her mind wandered a little.
After Aunt Ni brought out the after-dinner fruit, Luo Xikui took the opportunity to talk to him, casually chatting: "You said my brother isn't interested in girls, but what about you? So many girls send you love letters, you don't feel anything at all, do you?"
Xu Ziyu forked a piece of apple, his eyes shifting from the book to her face. She really wasn't good at hiding her emotions; they were all written on her face.
"I have a feeling about it." He turned his gaze back to the book and uttered two words indifferently: "It's annoying."
Luo Xikui chuckled, then a smile involuntarily crept onto her lips. She coughed lightly, suppressed her smile, and said, "If you keep acting like this, you'll be destined to be single forever."
Xu Ziyu turned a page of his book, his tone flat: "Isn't there still you?"
These words caused Luo Xikui to accidentally choke on a peach pit, her face changing drastically as she leaned over the trash can, choking.
Xu Ziyu frowned and hurried over to pat her back, but she still managed to spit out the fruit pit.
By this time, her face was flushed, tears were welling up in her eyes, and she looked utterly disheveled.
After wiping herself with a tissue, she looked up at Xu Ziyu, nervously pursing her lips: "What did that sentence mean?"
Xu Ziyu sat back down, lowered his eyes to read again, and said indifferently, "It's nothing."
Luo Xikui hated that fruit pit; it had interrupted her momentum!
He pouted in dissatisfaction and continued writing his questions with his head down.
Xu Ziyu looked up at her back. When he was patting her back earlier, he seemed to have noticed something different. The outline of the back button on her white school uniform shirt, which was stretched taut because she was bending over, seemed to be...
He thought for a moment, then frowned slightly. He wanted her to wear a vest underneath her clothes from now on, but he couldn't bring himself to say it, so he was quite troubled.
Luo Xikui had no idea what Xu Ziyu was thinking; she was biting her pen, still troubled by the problem at hand.
When it was 8:30, she felt it was about time to go home.
While packing her schoolbag, she said to Xu Ziyu with a flushed face, "Since you're not going to explain, I'll take your words as what I meant."
"What did you interpret it as?" Xu Ziyu put down his book and looked up at her with interest.
"I..." Luo Xikui found this difficult to explain, and after thinking about it for a while, she was unable to express it.
In a moment of panic, she leaned down and kissed him on the cheek. "That's exactly what I mean."
As soon as she finished speaking, she grabbed her schoolbag and ran off in a panic. Xu Ziyu was still stunned, finding it hard to believe her audacity. He couldn't help but raise his hand and touch the spot where her lips had just lightly touched.
After a while, a smile suddenly appeared on his lips, a smile that was both helpless and happy.
The smile lasted until he went to sleep that night, and in his dream it was as if a feather brushed against his face.
