He led her side by side as they skated toward the center of the venue. With him by her side, she felt more at ease and less cautious, and she skated even better.
She turned her head to look at him, and he showed her with his actions that even if there were forks in the road ahead, they would still walk together in the end.
After spending two hours at the ice rink, sweating and crying to her heart's content, she felt much better when she came out.
By the time he took her home, night had fallen. The row of streetlights outside her house were so bright that she couldn't even try to look demure.
"Go in." Xu Ziyu glanced at the slowly opening iron gate of the Shen family.
Luo Xikui stopped and faced him directly. She lowered her head and kicked a non-existent pebble, looking unusually shy and bashful: "You still haven't given me your answer. What do you think of me?"
Xu Ziyu chuckled silently, not understanding why she was so insistent on this answer. Wasn't it obvious what he thought of her?
He looked at her quietly for a while, and when she finally couldn't help but look up and was about to urge him, he said in a soft, low voice, "You are very good."
Luo Xikui was clearly not satisfied with this ambiguous answer. What was so good about it? Why couldn't he just praise her?
"Just stay like this." He stroked her hair.
Luo Xikui felt that he was acting strangely today; there seemed to be something hidden in his dark eyes.
Before she could even ask, he had already gotten back into the taxi.
She watched the car drive away until it was out of sight before turning her gaze away and walking towards the gate.
When she got home, no one mentioned the exam that day; everyone seemed to be concerned about her feelings.
After a couple of days of feeling down, she cheered herself up again because there were new things to keep her busy.
She was the class's arts and culture representative, so after the exams, she naturally had to organize a graduation dinner for the class with the class monitor and other key members.
They were all still fifteen or sixteen-year-old students, so there wasn't much to do. They just had a meal together and sang some songs, and that was it.
However, everyone was still crying their eyes out when the show ended.
In fact, most of Yuhua's students can get into No. 1 Middle School, so only a small number of them will be separated.
Luo Xikui felt that she was in this small part, and that night she hugged her close female classmate and cried a lot, until her eyes were swollen.
"Ugly," Xu Ziyu said with disdain as he took a tissue to wipe her face.
Luo Xikui cried uncontrollably. Although she had accepted his comforting words that day, which suggested they had reached the same goal, the thought of not being able to attend the same school anymore made her extremely sad. She even considered asking her parents to pull strings at the school.
However, the number of students admitted to No. 1 High School each year is fixed. If she used connections, she would squeeze out a spot for someone who actually passed the exam. Her pride ultimately wouldn't allow her to get in through such a despicable means.
"We can't be high school classmates anymore, can't you say something nice?" Luo Xikui wiped away her tears and glared at him.
Xu Ziyu raised his hand and flicked her forehead. Seeing her pout, he couldn't help but smile faintly.
He preferred to see her so energetic; a little chatter was fine, since he was quiet enough.
When we came out after the farewell dinner, the sky was full of stars.
Xu Ziyu had originally planned to tell her about that today, but Xin Chun suddenly came over and asked Luo Xikui if they could go home together.
Having discovered the secret, Luo Xikui had been avoiding Xin Chun lately. After thinking it over, she realized she had to face it eventually, so she waved goodbye to Xu Ziyu and walked away with Xin Chun.
