After saying "long time no see," Luo Xikui turned her gaze away, biting her lip to restrain herself from looking at him again.
Xu Ziyu continued to stare at her intently, from her eyebrows, nose, and pink lips to every strand of hair. It had been a very long time since he had seen her at such close range.
He was a little unaccustomed to her being so quiet. He thought she would question why they hadn't contacted each other before. He thought she would rush up to him like before, grabbing his clothes and sobbing. He thought she would have a lot to say to him and would chatter away like before.
To my utter surprise, she was so quiet, as if he didn't exist.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" he spoke first.
Upon hearing Xu Ziyu's question, Luo Xikui also felt the atmosphere in the car was too stuffy, so she said dryly, "Weren't you supposed to be back next week? Why are you here today..."
"I just happened to have a flight ticket, so I came early." Xu Ziyu had originally planned to come back the day before yesterday. He knew her concert was yesterday, but things in Germany delayed him, and he missed her first concert.
But she actually inquired about his return next week; was she looking forward to it?
Thinking about it this way, Xu Ziyu felt much better and said, "I didn't expect to see you so coincidentally."
"Yes, what a coincidence." Luo Xikui chuckled dryly, then fell silent again, wondering if Xin Chun had come back with him. Judging from the looks of it, she probably hadn't.
Xu Ziyu stared at her and noticed that she had been keeping her head down the whole time, showing no intention of looking at him or saying anything. She was completely different from the woman she was six years ago. Was it because they hadn't seen each other for so long that they had become estranged?
"The airplane food today was terrible," he suddenly said.
Luo Xikui didn't quite understand what he meant, so she remained silent.
Not receiving the expected reply, Xu Ziyu added, "My parents are attending a banquet tonight, so they probably haven't come home yet."
Luo Xikui was completely confused, not understanding why he suddenly brought up Uncle Xu and Aunt Ni. She felt that if she didn't respond, it would be really awkward, so she replied, "Their relationship is still so good."
Xu Ziyu frowned slightly. Did she really not understand what he meant, or was she deliberately ignoring him?
He was more direct and asked, "Have you eaten dinner?"
Luo Xikui was afraid that the longer she spent with him, the less she could control her feelings, so she just lowered her head and said, "I've already eaten..."
But before she could finish speaking, her stomach started growling loudly, almost like a roar, which was particularly loud in the enclosed carriage.
Her ears instantly turned red, and she bit her lip in annoyance. She hadn't eaten anything since having lunch with Yuan Cheng and the others at noon, and it was already eight o'clock, so it was normal to be hungry. She just didn't expect her stomach to expose her lie right in front of her.
"Looks like you haven't eaten much." Xu Ziyu didn't call her out on it, and added, "I haven't had dinner either, let's go eat together."
"I have something to do... I have to go..." Luo Xikui stammered, trying to find an excuse.
Xu Ziyu's expression darkened slightly. Even now, he could still see that she was intentionally refusing him. This situation couldn't be explained by unfamiliarity; it was far too abnormal.
"What's wrong? Doesn't the great musician even have time to have dinner with a friend who just returned from abroad?" His voice also turned somber.
Luo Xikui sensed the sarcasm in his words and frowned.
