Chapter 1553, Side Story 063: The Knee Injury

Xu Ziyu was helpless; his mother would probably nag him about this for the rest of her life.

Since then, she has treated him more and more like a child.

"Okay, I won't disturb your rest anymore. Go to sleep early." Ni Sitian patted her son's shoulder.

Xu Ziyu nodded and got up to see her off, but she pressed him back down, so he could only watch her leave.

After the door closed, he turned his gaze to his left knee and smiled bitterly. He had actually reached the point where even taking a plane would worry his mother.

Should I stop trying to get close to her?

Xu Ziyu leaned against the headboard and closed her eyes, trying to ignore the slight pain in her left knee, while the image of her playing the violin on the bridge flashed into her mind again.

The next morning, when he went downstairs, his parents were already having breakfast in the dining room. He went over, greeted them, and sat down.

Ni Sitian busied herself pouring him milk and putting a lot of food on his plate.

Xu Tingchuan put down his newspaper, looked up at his son, and said, "These few days are the National Day holiday, so you should rest and adjust first. We'll make arrangements for you when you go to the company on the 8th."

"Mm," Xu Ziyu replied, then lowered his head to eat his breakfast.

Ni Sitian glared at Xu Tingchuan and kicked him under the table, clearly displeased with what he and her son had said.

After finishing breakfast, Xu Ziyu said he wanted to take a walk in the yard, so he went out.

Ni Sitian immediately glared at Xu Tingchuan and accused him, "Xiao Yu just got back, can't you let him adjust for a while longer? What kind of father are you? Don't you feel sorry for him?"

Xu Tingchuan held his wife's hand, feeling heartbroken to see her eyes slightly red. He whispered, "Wife, it's not that I don't care about Ziyu, it's just that you're making it too obvious. You know how proud he is. You're being too special. How can he feel good about that?"

Ni Sitian knew her husband was right, but how could she not feel heartache and concern for her son who had suffered so much?

"Do you still resent me for sending him to Germany back then?" Xu Tingchuan sighed softly.

“What are you saying? I’ve already explained. I was just too anxious and that’s why I complained. I don’t mean it anymore.” Ni Sitian remembered what happened four years ago. When she rushed to Germany and saw her son lying pale in a hospital bed, she and Xu Tingchuan had the most serious argument they’d ever had.

But afterwards she realized that accidents are not something everyone can foresee, and that going to study in Germany was something Xiao Yu had agreed to, so she no longer held a grudge against him.

“Sitian, so much time has passed since this happened, and even Xiaoyu has recovered. Your unusual behavior is just reminding him, and that’s what hurts him. Do you understand?” Xu Tingchuan said slowly, embracing his wife.

Ni Sitian lowered her eyes, let out a soft breath, and nodded: "I'll try my best to be careful."

Xu Ziyu walked slowly around the courtyard, then stopped under the swing set and gently stroked the swing ropes.

He still clearly remembers that Luo Xikui really liked the swing in his house and always asked him to push her from behind, to push her high.

Once, he pushed her too high and she almost fell off. He rushed to catch her, but she fell heavily on him. She was fine, but he suffered a minor wrist fracture.

He didn't cry afterwards, but she cried her eyes out.

Thinking back on this now, I can't even remember how old I was.

He probably can't catch her so nimbly anymore.
